Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

After downloading and installing today’s new app release, every time I launch the app it asks me to turn on Bluetooth to access accessories, but I don’t understand why since none of my Sonos speakers have Bluetooth. If I turn it on the banner goes away in future launches, but if I turn off Bluetooth, it again asks for me to turn it on during launch. This is annoying and I don’t know why it needs Bluetooth turned on, does anyone know why this is happening? Btw the version is 11.1
My iPad and iPhone auto upgraded to S1 Controller and went to play music and no speakers found. Tried to rejoin system and got repeated message system not found. Reset Play:1 device and tried to join to the system, no luck. On hard reset Play:1 went through setup for network, but then failed on making a system at the chime, even though it joined the network fine. All speakers still on the same network and data transmits are going back and forth. Just cant get any of them to join a new or existing system. I don’t want to go resetting my sound bar etc in case I cant get it back. Any ideas appreciated.
Updated entire system to S2. All went very smoothly as usual with Sonos. Should I now uninstall the redundant S1 controller?
I have a vintage Bridge and a Play:5 (Gen 1), neither of which are S2 compatible. My Play:5 (Gen 1) is trade-up eligible. Is the trade-up to a Play:5 (Gen 2)? I can't trade-up my Bridge. And I don't see a "Gen 2 Bridge" in the S2 compatible products list. What would I purchase to replace my Bridge with? Can I get a new bridge or equivalent (fresh purchase) and a new Play:5 (via 'trade-up') and still keep my old/original gear and set up two systems, one vintage and one new? Or am I required to send the Play:5 (Gen 1) back to you?
With S2 out in the wild, I was wondering if anyone can test if local control with UPNP still works before I take the plunge (since I am unsure if I can rollback). I use Sonos with my home automation setup and it relies on the UPNP API not the cloud API.
I have a number of Sonos devices, some legacy some ‘modern’. with the introduction of S2, can I select which of my newer devices to move over to the S2 app? I have a legacy connect that I usually group with an S2 compatible Play3 - To enable me to continue to group these I want to keep both on S1, while moving the other kit over to S2.
EDIT: My indexing has just finished with an error saying there’s not enough space. So I guess that question has been answered. A real shame, as backwards-compatibility was often the reason given for not increasing the index size. OK, S2 has now hit the streets and the question that’s been on everyone’s lips (well, mine and and maybe a couple of other people!) is… Has the 65K track limit been increased now? Ever since Sonos removed the http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1400/status/tracks_summary screen it’s been impossible for users to see their index size without going through support. I’m currently reindexing mine to see, but it’s kinda tricky to spot missing tracks when the collection is that large!
I’m wondering if there will be desktop controller versions (macOS, Windows) of the S2 app, or just mobile controllers. Has any information been released about this?
Hi, just curious if anyone knows of a way to control the Sonos speaker (e.g. Play 5) volume with a physical hardware volume knob. Like if I am using the Sonos App on my computer, is there any way to control the Sonos volume with a USB device like this: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B06XPH7FFJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Thanks in advance for any feedback or suggestions!
Anyone else finding the iOS app consistently needing to be killed and restarted just to stay connected?
The Berlin Philharmonic has made its Digital Concert Hall free for the next thirty days because their concert hall is closed due to coronavirus. It would be great if Sonos could add this as a source!
I keep seeing the crossfade option when messing around the settings on the Sonos App. What exactly does it do and when do I use it?
All of a sudden I’m no longer able to rearrange the songs in queue from my iPhone or iPad. I’m able to add songs from my library and select “add to end of queue” or “play next”, but once they are added, I’m unable to adjust the order. Normally I can tap and hold a song and move it up or down in the queue, that option is gone - all I can do is delete songs. :( My Sonos and iOS software are both up to date. I am still able to rearrange songs on my Mac but it was so convenient to be able to do it from my phone - this was one of my favorite features of the Sonos app. Am I missing something?
Hi. I froze my Sonos system at 8.4 in order to preserve my CR100’s. I am about to buy 2 second hand ZP120’s to add to the system. I suspect that I can only link them if my entire system is running the same firmware, and the ones I am going to purchase are running the latest firmware. I’ve read that I need to do a factory reset on the new units then add them as new units. I also know that updating the existing units will brick the CR100s. The question is: What will happen to my Sonos playlists during the update process - will they be preserved?
I’d like to connect an internet music service live stream on my Macbook Pro laptop to my Sonos system. While Sonos does provide access to many internet streaming services, I have a subscription to Hearts of Space and so am not limited by predefined music that the service chooses to air through the Sonos arrangement. I can select anything from their entire library. Is is possible therefore to get the audio ouput from my Macbook Pro streamed to my Sonos system? Any help much appreciated!
I have an Apple TV. I want to purchase a Sonos speaker and debating between the Five and Arc. Can I connect my Apple TV to the Five via Airplay to output audio?
This sounds intriguing and my Tidal trial will still be active when I receive my Sonos Arc... I hope. With all the fuss over getting Atmos signals from Arc and eArc I wonder how is it effected when streaming music. Can the art output Atmos music via a stream?
I play the drums and found a way to use the beam as my speaker, but the 75 ms delay is very annoying. How can I bypass this delay?
I would like to be able to search for other Spotify profiles or public playlists. It would make sense to me if there was a users tab to search just like artist or song. I would like to search for friends playlists by searching for their username first. I would also like to see a followed tab to sort by friends who I follow. if this is possible using the Sonos app please point me in the right direction. If not possible I would like to request this feature.
Android Galaxy S10+. App version 11.1. The notification “Stopping the service may affect Sonos homescreen widgets” shows constantly regardless of the status of Sonos system or what actions I am taking. I have read the post made about six months ago. Sonos rep stated they would look into it. I have turned off background process notifications but I suspect I am not seeing other notifications. When will this be fixed?
I just purchased two (2) Sonos moves and paired them together as one speaker. Moving the volume control on my iPhone does not affect the volume at all. I can only change the volume manually on the actual speakers.
Hi there, I currently have two Play:1 devices and I’ve found it increasingly annoying that I can’t play BBC Sounds radio shows without going through the Sonos app (plus not all the Sounds content is available through Radio by TuneIn). So my question is this: if I buy a One SL (I’m not interested in voice control), could I use AirPlay 2 (I’ve got an iPhone XR) to listen to whatever is playing on my phone through the One SL, then group that with my Play:1 devices if I so wished? In addition, I have a lot of songs in the Music Library on my phone (I don’t use Apple Music, these are mostly songs I’ve bought through iTunes ages ago or even copied to my laptop from actual CDs) which at the moment I can’t listen to through my Sonos speakers unless I have the laptop switched on. Would AirPlay 2 solve this problem too? Thanks very much in advance! :) Sarah
I couldn’t find clear answers for setting up Sonos with Amazon Music Unlimited HD Family Plan and Alexa. So, wanted to share what we did in case it is helpful for others. Our system is: Sonos One in the office Sonos One in my daughter’s room Stereo pair of Sonos One SLs with Sonos Subwoofer in the living room One phone with Sonos app and Alexa app to control everything (daughter doesn’t have a phone) Our goal: Connect Sonos to our Family Plan Play music from separate accounts in the Family Plan for myself and my daughter Have Alexa recognize our voices and by default play from the correct account in the Family Plan Required steps: Create the Family Plan on Amazon (in our case, we were upgrading an existing account to a Family Plan) Invite family members to join the account on Amazon. As far as I can figure out, these accounts must be adult accounts. Teen accounts cannot be added in later steps to the Sonos system. When you are in the Sonos app and try to “Add a Service” using a Teen
I understand that we can tweak the speakers after setting up TruePlay using the EQ and SUB levels, but does “pure” TruePlay assume that Loudness is turned on or off? Put another way, if we toggle Loudness after TruePlay setup does it change the outcome?
Looking for some help if possible please - some tracks in Spotify won’t play via the Sonos app or direct to Sonos via devices available in Spotify - the playlist are being accessed via Sonos, the songs are greyed out, despite them being a able to be played via the Spotify app on all of my mobile devices, IOS and Android.
