Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

Hello About a year ago there was a thread about Sonos’ inability to shuffle an Apple Music library. Edward R (Sonos staff) wrote: I am afraid that sending 12,000 tracks to the queue is quite demanding of your home network. The reason GPM may allow this is due to the tracks possibly being of a lower fidelity. What Jeff recommended was for testing purposes. We will be sure to forward this feedback for you, in any case. Many thanks. I am new to Sonos this week. I am having this problem, can I assume that the feedback was forwarded but nothing has been done. Apple Music does not queue the entire library when shuffling songs, so this should not be the issue - Sonos only needs to ask for the next track. I think that Sonos should reasonably expect that some of their users will (a) be using Apple Music and (b) have large libraries.
I’ve read a bunch of “fix-it” docs on here but none really with what I’m seeing. I have no issues with my actual speakers playing music. I have 2 Sonos 5, 3 Sonos 1, and HT system. None have problems connecting or playing music. But the app is horrible lately. Every time I go to access the app, the “Rooms” section shows maybe 2 of my speakers, but when I go into “Settings/System” they’re all showing up. So I know it “sees” them. Or maybe not, is “System” connected to my account and not what it sees on the network? When I’m in “Rooms” it only shows a few of them. Then, it takes forever for the app to connect to all of my music sources (i.e. Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, etc). As I type, right now I can only see 2 speakers in “Rooms”. When I go to “Settings/System” I can see all my speakers. But I can’t pause the music on the app. I don’t believe it’s an issue with my wifi network (Orbi Mesh network). All speakers are connected wirelessly, but as mentioned above don’t have any issue wi
Is it going to be possible to resurrect a Sonos unit that has been put into 'Recycle Mode' considering the latest announcement?
Hey all, I just had a pair of Sonos One SL speakers delivered. Lots of good, I love the look and sound. However, I'm disappointed I cant send PC, TV and Phone audio directly to the One SL, of particular interest is the PC. Ideally, I wish it had Bluetooth or even just a 3.5cm Jack. However, I am sure there is a way to create a streaming service with the UPnP, or some other method I'm not yet aware of. Can anyone recommend a neat solution? I have tried a few searches that recommended apps but with no success yet from any of them. I also don't want to buy more kit so please keep recommendations to this scope. Technical detail is fine, I am willing to code the app myself. I can code in any language or platform.
Hello, It has already been answered and closed but I guess the more people asking for the same feature the more it might get prioritized. I can only agree to below link and request. I would really like to have a default streaming output when there is no history or cache to refer to. Only pressing play on my sonos and always knowing it will play my favourite radio channel or my spotify playlist - IF there is no stored history to resume from. Power surge whatever reason. Also missing in the other post I think… I also would like to have the possibility to reset the history at eg 3AM so that if I want to have a specific radio channel in the morning it will always play that. And not the music playlist I had late the evening before. Another way to solve this would be to long press play or double tap…. on the play button to play a predefined streaming service. https://en.community.sonos.com/controllers-software-228995/default-playlist-when-queue-is-empty-6833731 personally this is a mis
Since a recent app update, when I use my upnp server with my Sonos system, the seek bar no longer works on the Sonos app. The desktop app does not show any seek/time information at all, the iOS and Andriod app show the time of the track, but not the remaining time or the seek information. I have tried several other upnp servers and they all act the same. So I do not believe the issue is with my upnp server. Is anyone aware of a way to resolve this?
My phone connects with no problem to the Move using Bluetooth, my wife’s phone finds the Move with Bluetooth on her phone, BUT...my MacBook Pro doesn’t ever show the Move in Bluetooth, no matter how close my laptop is to the Move. Any ideas as to why?
With S2 coming and the updated groups feature, will you be able to easily have a speaker not only just be in multiple groups, but also move rooms with ease? Here is an example scenario to make sense of the question. You have a Sub and it’s paired with playbar for a TV set up. In the same room you have two Play Ones set up for stereo music. Could you have the Sub easily join with the two Play Ones for a better experience with the stereo sound when the TV playbar is not in use. This way you can utilize the benefits of the sub in both the stereo set up as well as the TV set up without cluttering the small space with a second sub. This comes into play in many open spaces like condos where kitchens and living spaces are side by side. We don’t want to use the playbar for music as the stereo sound and separation is better with Ones or play 5’s but the One’s lack the bass. Since they are in close proximity to the TV set up it would be ideal to have a preset where the sub could join the ot
I wonder if its possible to change this screen to something else? Preferably something more geometric.
The new Sonos Five coming out in a few weeks has no voice control; why not?
I used to have a “Sonos power plan” in Windows for my desktop. Is it no longer available?

iPad using ios 9.3.5 working fine now... don't want to lose it (as I did my desktop running OS 10.6.8 How to stop or block updates that will (UNANNOUNCED) obsolete my hardware? I can not see an off switch on the setting screen in v9.1 controller which INSISTED I UPDATE MY SYSTEM and apparently only updated the SPEAKERS? It was working fine before so why did I need an update?
Hi, After getting a new Apple Macbook I got Catalina OSX. When I installed Sonos Controller for OSX, OSX App cannot find my existing Sonos System. My Sonos System is updated to 11.1, I checked my firewall, added Sonos there but no go. Is there a solution? Regards, Aras
The Sonos app of my Sonos Move does not allow me to play or listen to something I want, from a favorite web site ? Is there a solution or I have to send it back ?
So where is this Sonos Radio that I have been reading about this morning from all the major outlets? Let me have it!!
Hi, I have a Sonos One set up on a standard Comcast XFinity wifi connection. I am unable to see the Sonos One as an option via AirPlay. Sonos One was purchased fall of 2019 new from Best Buy. I have a 2013 and a 2017 MacBook Pro, both of which I would like to use to connect to Sonos One via Airplay. The software on all devices is up to date (Sonos firmware, Sonos software and operating system software). My first thought was that my devices weren’t compatible but I just bought the Sonos One and it’s listed as a compatible devices on your site. When I go into the Music app and click the AirPlay icon only my computer shows up. Many thanks!!
Everytime I open the sonos app on my iphone, it asks me to turn on bluetooth. I don’t use bluetooth and won’t turn it on, how do I turn off this prompt when I open the app? The app works through wireless not bluetooth.
With the new Sonos radio source, can anyone note the quality of the streams? Granted much of this is source dependent (the radio stations that encode their streams), but was wondering if, in relative terms to TuneIn, this would be better quality? Or is the intention that it’s just better integrated than TuneIn and more stable streams? Otherwise, the curation alone is a tough way to distinguish from other services.
A little over a week ago, I started a thread to engage with like minded people here: those that felt the way I did, as explained in my opening post there. That thread was titled: “The Sonos Brexit and pragmatic ways past it” and I intended that to be the last thread I open on this site. A link to that thread: https://en.community.sonos.com/controllers-software-228995/the-sonos-brexit-and-pragmatic-ways-past-it-6836056 That thread has grown beyond expectations. While everyone on it has contributed to keep it profanity free and largely rant free, with an occasional nudge by @Edward R in that effort, just by virtue of its length, it has become unwieldy as all long threads become. And it has many days to run, because the Sonos Brexit event, and the release of detailed information about it by Sonos, are both at least three months away. I therefore thought that it made sense to break my promise to myself - No More Threads - and make just this one exception to it, by opening this thread. It i
I would like to stop using the Sonos app completely with a SONOS 1 that I own. Is it possible for me to overwrite the firmware and use the device with other software to stream audio? I'm thinking of some sort of service running on a separate device that the SONOS can pick up, similar to bluetooth streaming.
So from last night to tonight I open my app to change the music in my bedroom...I go to ROOMS and I see the below screen shot...I click on bedroom and it gives me an option of “Let’s do this” or later...so I pick later but it takes me to the same screen shot below and I cannot access my music. I don’t want to upgrade...I’m happy where my system is...I use it for sound in my house coming from my music collection and nothing more...no alexa, no google, no pandora, nothing but a wireless speaker system..now sonos is forcing me to upgrade and I have no idea if after my upgrade my system will work or not since some of my equipment is 15 years or so. I shouldn’t have to be forced to upgrade. What the hell gives?
I have version 11.0 installed for macOS. It forces me to update it in order to use it. When I give it to look for update it tells me "Updating the driver and then failed to update the driver." Thank you
For years i have enjoyed access to radio all over the world and yet recently I am advised that my access is restricted and I now need to log onto Radio Denon.com to access the radio stations. On so doing, I am requested to pay a fee. Anybody know why this is the case?
Sonos only offers one radio service in the UK, it is called Tune In. Tens of thousands of UK Sonos customers access the Tune In radio service daily via Alexa. BBC has now terminated Tune In/Alexa access to their services. Tune In/Sonos app selection of BBC radio stations is ok, but less convenient than Alexa voice control. Tune In/Alexa on Amazon Echo still works, but we invested in Sonos to enjoy the sound quality. Surely lack of a solution will quickly and directly impact UK Sonos sales? There are several active user threads discussing the issue but no real solutions. What is Sonos doing to restore access to BBC radio services in UK via Alexa?
