I have in ceiling sonance c6r speakers (max 85watt, 8 ohm) in my house. My main room is set up for 5.1 with a speaker above my TV but are currently connected to a Sonos amp which I have recently connected to my TV. The center speaker is not currently added to the amp.Is it possible to add the center speaker to this amp without breaking it?
I’ve recently transffered my music to a 1 TB external SSD.I’m using a Mac Studio (Ventura 13.2.1). The Music app on the Mac is setup to use the external drive as its library. All works OK on the Mac.If I add the Library to my Sonos (I add in as an External Drive and point it to the Music folder) it initailly recognises the folder and says it is starting to Index. Nothing happens. Normally I would see the ...Indexing next to the ‘Music Library’ on the Music Sources list, but nothing is there. If I run the ‘Update Music Library Now’, the Indexing can appear for a second or two and then disappears (or most of the time it just freezes the Sonos app and I have to Force Quit).Using Finder I can see that Sonos has a ‘Custom’ Sharing Privilege permission on the drive (generated when I first setup the Library in Sonos). It appears to have rights to access the folder, but the Library Indexing always fails.Any advice would be welcome.
OK, I had been running two Sonos connect units for a few years. Both were set up as wired units as I do not wish to rely on wifi). Long story short either unit will play STREAMING music just fine, but with files from my .flac library this pausing occurs, and appears to be totally random. There was a time when if I started a playlist / album both units would play just fine. However it seems that once you try to control the sonos app via an android phone, that’s when the trouble starts. I’ve got a galaxy S20 and my girlfriend a galaxy 5. We’ve tried running the S1 app via each phone, logged in and not - it makes zero difference. I spent 90 minutes in chat w sonos (they passed me off to three different “associates” in a row, and each time the new associate would ask for “some time to review the case”...I had to repeat things over and over...so frustrating) and in the end nothing was resolved. Even their advice seemed suspect (mostly focusing on wifi despite me having told them that I do n
The original system was the Bose Built Invisible that had the sub woofer and rear speakers built into the wall. It had a separate amp for all the speakers that is no longer working. Want to add an Arc with two amplifiers (one for the rears and one for the sub) for the home theater room. Will the set up in the Amp allow for a stand alone sub woofer only. Trying to do this without having to get a separate power amplifier to use the sub output.
HelloI have recently purchased a Cambridge Audio AXA35 to go with my setup. Setup consists of:2x Sonos One SLsSonos PortSony PS-LX310BT turntable I want to play vinyl on my turntable through my Sonos speakers and be able to control the volume and settings through the Cambridge Audio AXA35. However I cannot figure out the optimum way of connecting all the various components to achieve what I want. I have the phono outputs from the turntable and an analogue RCA cable currently. I am able to get sound by connecting the turntable output to the amplifier phono inputs, with the turntable set to “Phono". And then connecting the REC out to the In ports on the Sonos Port. However even with the line out set to “fixed" in the Sonos app I can still control the volume in the app and the volume controls and settings on the amp don't do anything.I am not the most AV minded so grateful if someone could possibly advise where I'm going wrong… Thanks
My understanding, the Port has no onboard volume control. Is there a way to rig and external knob or something to do so? How to?
My Connect has been remarkably sporadic. I have updated my controllers, and then the app led me through two hardware updates. Yet the Connect drops out after a few minutes. I hit “Stop” and “Play” on the app, and we’re good again… for a few.Yes I’ve rebooted router.Yes I’ve rebooted EVERY Sonos product. It’s a Connect with a direct line-of-sight to the router. Ten feet away. In a 1300 square foot apartment. The router is eight months old. Diagnostic 1493639714
HiAnyone knows hos to wire up an old Connect Gen 1 to a set of BeoLab 2500 Active Loudspeakers. Each speaker can only have a black 5 pin round connecter for input and I don´t know how to get from this to the white and red female single pin connecter socket on the Connect Gen 1.I guess I need some kind of special cable for this and hope someone can help me figure out what I need to buy ?Would this setup even work for streaming music from my Sonos 1 App ?/Lars
Took update now white noise on coax no music build 9316
I have an entirely new Sonos system throughout my home and have the black Sonos amps in one room I want to use my old S1 subwoofer would these two be compatible?
Hi, please can you help me, I have recently installed ceiling speakers and they sounded incredible, until I asked the decorator to paint them to match the room.. they now sound terrible and like they are under water, Anyone have any suggestions please? (they are paintable) Thank you
Hi Guys, My traditional AV Receiver has kicked the bucket so I decided to dip my toe into the world of Sonos . all new to me so apologies in advance for any dumb questions! I have purchased a second hand Amp ZP100 Gen 1 to replace the AV Receiver which currently runs 4 x Monitor audio CT180 in ceiling speakers. They are rated at 6 ohms. I wanted to connect simply connect 2 speakers to the left channel and 2 speakers to the right channel of the Sonos amp. However on reading it looks like doing this means the rating lowers to 3 Ohms which will cause issues with the sonos Amp causing it to shut down for protection. Is my understanding correct and im better of just using 2 speakers not 4?Thanks in advance
I have 4 Connects powering third party (in ceiling) speakers in four zones via a third party multi-zone amplifier. I also have a Playbar, Sub and Play:3. All are running on the S1 app.My third party multi-zone amplifier died and I am upgrading from the Connects to Amps, and then to run the Amps, Playbar, Sub and Play:3 on the S2 app.I have the Amps and I’m looking for guidance/instructions on the process for executing the upgrades, i.e. removing the Connects, installing the Amps, and getting them all running (along with the Playbar, Sub and Play:3) on the S2 app.Thanks...
Hi all, I wonder if you can help. I have a planar p1 record deck (into a preamp) and a marantz cd6007 going into an rca splitter, then the output goes to a port and then to all my other sonos speakers. The output from the vinyl sounds great but the output from the cd player sounds ghastly - muffled and distorted. I have swapped the connections over to every different combination but nothing changes. Some of my CD’s sound good but the majority are not up to the job. The CD player is new (the output from the headphone socket on the player is absolutely brilliant, so no problems there). Do you think that I need a separate amplifier in between the CD player and the Port, or is there something darker afoot?
Hi - I’ve just bought a Sonos Port to plug into my Denon AVR S750H receiver -- but I see that the Port seems to have digital cables with RCA-style plugs, and my Denon has an optical cable. Is there some sort of adapter I can purchase that allows me to go into the optical audio-in on the Denon so I don’t have to sacrifice another input? I’m not real knowledgeable about these interfaces, so I’d appreciate any recommendation you might have. Thanks!Steve H.
Hi All, can you help.am I correct in saying a 16 ohm speaker can be used on each side of the amplifier either as a pair or as a 4.for example 2 speakers on the left channel and 2 on the right channel? how ever I cant have 3 due to the imbalance in ohms being around 5 ohms? thanks
If I bought an old Gen 1 sonos connect and connected to the 3.5mm audio out on my epson eh-tw7000, could I then send that audio wirelessly to a Gen 1 sonos beam?
I have a Beam connected to the router via ethernet and I also got 2 Ones and an Arc that is supposedly connected wirelessly via Sonosnet. The Arc and one of the Ones is being report as “Wired” on my router and that is correct. But the other One is being reported as “Wifi 2.4” and that is incorrect. I already removed the wifi credentials on the app, so I don’t how this One is connected via Wifi. And this One would often disconnect and I would get that error (RS+?) on the app.How do I finally get this Sonos One on Sonosnet? Again, it already says WM:0 on the app, but I am pretty sure it is not because it says “Wifi 2.4” on the router and also because this is the only speaker that disconnects occasionally.
Hi All,I have a SONOS port + Cambridge Audio Amplifier (Azur) that doesn’t have any digital output, only RCA’s.SONOS Port works well for:broadcasting Streaming music to Cambridge amplifier and play on my good old passive speakers connecting CD player or other sources (turntables) to SONOS Port and broadcasting on other SONOS products at homeHowever, I had hoped I could use my amplifier as a source to SONOS PORT (via the RCA Record output of the Cambridge Audio amplifier) so that I can use my old audio sources (CD, turntables, tapes, radio, etc) and broadcast to my other SONOS products but that doesn’t seem to work.Any hint/help please? Many thanks!
My question is what should my next purchase be to add to my system with the plan of expanding the system in the future? Currently I have a vintage turntable with a pre amp and a Sonos Beam One. (also a TV) I was planning on adding an AMP next . I am thinking of adding speakers and possibly a third party sub woofer. So my second question what speakers are going to work with the Beam One? Or do I need to upgrade the Beam? Did I mention I’m new to all this?? Thank you
My port is set to Family Room and will only function on ‘fixed volume’. Can’t change the volume in that room. all other rooms work fine. Tried changing to ‘variable’ but it immediately defaults back to ‘fixed volume’ on that port. Any ideas?
I have Three Sonos connect (Gene 2) two have updated successful the remaining one fail to update hence completely fail to connect .When I upgrade it start greet but on finishing setup i get error 30. We are building a new home and are looking for pre-wire and configuration advice. The great room will have a TV in the Media Alcove and we hope to have Surround sound in that room. We also hope to have music in the dining and kitchen areas. We will also have a TV and sound in the Den. I currently own Sonos and have had a it configured using an ARC, One (surrounds), and Sub in one zone, and a pair of Fives in the kitchen in a separate zone. This has worked nicely. For this house we envision the following use - 1. Great Room - Surround for TV and sometimes streaming music 2. Kitchen and Dining - streaming music 3. Den - Surround for TV and sometimes streaming music 4. Outside under covered patio - streaming music Great Room - ARC and two surrounds in ceiling with AMP OR 5 speakers in ceiling configured for 5:1 with no ARC. Understand that we need an AMP for in ceiling speakers. Kitchen and Dining - 2 speakers each, or will one pair suffice for the space For Den, we intend on using exi
I have various Sonos equipment setup in eight rooms in my home and have been using it with a Boost and Amp wired (SonosNet) for a few years. It’s good 99% of the time, but when I try to group more than 5 rooms I get a lot of drop-outs. I have a great Eero mesh system in my home and since the new Era speakers don’t support SonosNet I thought -- why not try it without SonosNet?I used the Sonos App (S2) to add a trusted network, and that process prompted me to unplug the network cable from the Amp. Eventually I got everything switched over to WiFi -- not as smooth as I had hoped, but it got done. I powered down the Boost (completely disconnected and unplugged) and everything is working great -- better than before, I can group all of my rooms with no drop-outs, it’s more responsive, etc. However...in in the Sonos App I still see the Boost! On the Systems “tab” is shows it with the dreaded “blue dot” / Updating message. In Settings it also shows that, and when I do “About My System”
I have one sonos connect unit that is listed online in my Sonos account as being a “Modern” device and capable of S2. However, when I factory reset it and try to add it to my S2 system, the light flashes red and the app reports it as unable to upgrade to S2. Any ideas what’s going on? Thanks
