Downloaded the Alexa android app, linked to Sonos account but won't find devices. The app wants to link to my Amazon.com account. I have an Amazon.co.uk account. Any suggestions?

Amazon Alexa: Backwards compatible with existing Sonos speakers

When it was first mentioned last year that Sonos was going to team up with Amazon to allow Alexa your music, it was stated that it would be backwards compatible with existing Sonos speakers. This was also re-iterated when there was a sale of Sonos speakers earlier in the year. So could someone advise me on how I upgrade my existing speakers to understand Alexa's commands. Thanks

Play 5 and Echo dot volume issues

After the latest update, the volume on my play 5 has changed with my echo dot. It use to be too loud when the dot was turned up all the way, my line in was boosted to 10, and I was half way up on the sonos volume. Now the audio from the dot is noticeably quieter, and changes randomly, quieter, then back to set volume. Has anyone else had a similar issue here? Diagnostic 7926558 submitted.

echo dot / alexa with sonos lounge setup including playbar - pro/con for others thinking of using this setup

I took the plunge to move Alexa out of the kitchen and into the living room - so purchased an additional Dot. I have playbar, 2x Play 3 and Sub setup in a 5.1 surround group. And a Connect that I was using with Record Deck. I've tried Echo Dot setup two ways. They both seem to have the same fatal flaw - namely that the TV sound does not restart when you stop music or in the case of using Sonos speakers to hear Alexa, every time you ask Alexa something. I've documented what I see the Pro/Cons are, both are quite unideal TBH - I wonder if anyone has some smart workarounds. Also bit disappointed Spotify isnt working "yet" although apparently promised. 1. Firstly standalone. Sound only comes from Echo Dot. Sonos connected via Alexa skills only. Pros - doesnt mess with Sonos as much. -you can ask Alexa to play "artist" in "room name on Sonos". Mute, pause etc all work well. Radio stations work well too. Cons - you may not hear the little Dot speaking above your music/tv

Drop the room name

I like the alexa integration. There needs to be a way to associate Alexa devices and sonos devices in the Alexa app. The room name should only need to be specificed if you want to control the bedroom sonos from the living room.

Assign Amazon Echo (Alexa) devices to Sonos zone(s)

I'm excited about the release of the Sonos/Alexa integration. Thank you to the Sonos team for getting this out the door! Setting up the skill was a breeze and it seems to be working very well for me so far. Naturally, I already have some ideas for improvement... :-) I have an Echo device in each room where I also have one or more Sonos zones. For example: - Echo Dot bedroom - Sonos ZP80 bedroom (with a dedicated amp and speakers) - Echo Show kitchen (covers kitchen, dining area, and living area) - Sonos Play:5 kitchen - Sonos Play:1 pair dining area - Sonos Playbar (with sub and surrounds) living area - Echo Dot office - Sonos ZP80 office (with a dedicated amp and speakers) I think it would be great to be able to associate a given Echo device with one or more Sonos zones, so that Echo device would control those zones by default. I would still want the ability to control other Sonos zones by naming them explicitly. For example, if I am talking to my Echo Show in t

Alexa Flashing Green Light after Paired with Sonos

Have paired Alexa with my Sonos system. All seems to work well but now constantly have the light ring on the Alexa slowly flashing green. Anyone else have this? Would like to stop it. Amazon says it could be an incoming call but I donbt have that.

How to add my local library to a streaming service which Alexa and Sonos can use?

Being able to control Sonos via voice commands is convenient but not being able to play from my local library does limit the usefulness. Is there any way to add my library to one of these services easily and cheaply [ie free]?

Problems with Alexa after initial successful set-up

Set up Alexa to my Sonos living room successfully 2 days ago and everything was perfect that day. The next day, and each day since, Alexa says she is playing in the living room but nothing happens. I can play music manually through the Sonos app and Alexa will stop and start but if I ask her to play a playlist for example, she will lower the volume, say she is playing the playlist on living room but the music doesn’t change I’ve reset and unplugged everything but no success. Any ideas anyone ?

Pandora Group on Alexa bug report

I have 3 rooms that I like to group together. I did this in the Alexa app and called them "Everything". If I say "Alexa play Tom Petty on Everything" it plays Amazon music great but if I say "Alexa play Tom Petty radio from Pandora on Everything" it only plays on the Echo and not the Sonos.

Sonos Connect Amp name conflicts with Amazon Echo Dot

I have echo dots and echo show's sprinkled around my home. My Echo Dots / Echo Shows have names that are concise to make it easy to use Alexa commands like "Alexa, drop in on the Kitchen", or "Alexa, call the Master Bedroom". However, I also have similarly named Sonos Connect Amps tied to the built-in speakers in each room. For example, in Sonos, my Sonos Connect Amp that drives my master bedroom is simply called "Master Bedroom". I also have rooms that have in-ceiling speakers powered by a Sonos Connect amp that does not share the name of the Echo Dot/Show. "Dining Room" and "Piano Room" all have speakers/connect amp but no corresponding Echo Dot/Show. This has resulted in Amazon Alexa app recognizing the Sonos Connect Amps that have names that do not conflict with existing Echo Dot/Show devices. If there is a name conflict (e.g. Echo Dot named 'Master Bedroom' and Sonos Connect Amp named 'Master Bedroom') then the Sonos Connect Amp is not detected nor displayed in the list

D/A in Echo DOT versus Play 5 Gen 2.

I have been a Sonos user for only about a month. I had an Echo dot so used the line-in config. with Spotify. When the announcement came out on the 4th, I switched over to the networked Sonos set-up. I wanted to see if there is an audible difference between the D/A convertor in the Echo Dot versus the Play 5's D/A. I then found out that Spotify is not yet supported by Sonos, and the bit rate of Amazon Music is less than Spotify, so I could not compare Apples to Apples, or should I say Dot D/A versus Sonos Play 5 D/A. I'll have to wait for Spotify to compare. Does anybody have an opinion as to whether the same bit rate source sounds better through the networked Play 5 Gen 2 versus the line-in from the Echo Dot? After being an audiophile for many years, I worry about these things, although given that the source is ~300k MP3 files, I probably shouldn't. I also have a small FLAC library of my ripped CD's so that would be the best test I suppose. I would guess that there is no

Forget a Sonos device on the Alexa app

How do get the Alexa app to permanently forget a device. One echo is hardwired to the sonos connect amp but it keeps rediscovering it.

I have multiple cases where I say "Play TuneIn in the Kitchen" the Echo confirms saying something like "getting last station played.... Playing Today FM in the Kitchen" and then nothing happens. Have other people had this?

Echo Plus integration - smart home automation

I had a thought regarding how the sonos integration may factor into the Echo Plus. The Plus is supposed to boast to have a smart home hub built in, so you don't have to have a separate phillips hub (for example) as well. There hasn't been much said but it's supposed to boast Alexa features built in to your smart home scenes. In other words you can script commands to turn on a light AND play a radio station, for example. I would assume then, since Alexa now has a lot of control over sonos, that a sonos zone can be included in these smart home scripts. Is there any confirmation on that? BTW, I know that you can do this with other third party hubs already, just seems like it might be more integrated with the Alexa smart home since Alexa is more aware of the 'state' of the sonos zones. Also, I've heard little about the Echo Plus capabilities. Not much on supported devices, scheduling capabilities, or any conditional logic.

Disable "listening" services like Alexa?

I hope Sonos provides some way to completely disable Alexa or any other listening-servie on its hardware and software if they are going the voice-command route. I'm extremely security and privacy conscious, and have to be in my work. I can't understand why anyone would want a device "listening" to everything said in the home or office setting. Trusting devices like that suggests a lot more faith and trust in companies and government than I have, despite assurances that it only listens for the key phrase to activate. It's a sure bet there's either a back door in it, or someone will hack it to eavesdrop on everything.

now that Alexa public beta is here, can sonos be accessed / controlled remotely outside its wifi network range using the alexa app? only reason i want this is we have a multi room set up with 5 sonos zones in our vacation rental home and would like to be able to control remotely thx
