Hi all. I have my Sonos Beam connected to a Sony 55x850d through it’s single HDMI ARC port. The Beam is connected to two Sonos One, running 5.0 surround sound (no SUB). I am able to get Dolby Digital 5.1 through certain apps (Netflix) running directly through the TV, but not through my XBox One X. The XBox only transmits stereo, whether I am running games or playing movies. I have the audio settings on the Xbox set to transmit 5.1 uncompressed. Do I have a setting wrong? How do I get 5.1 from the Xbox to work?

Guys I’m after some advice. I’m planning on having a projector for movies etc. But I’m struggling with how I can get to use sonos as the surround sound. My problem is I don’t want a playbar, I would like to use a play 5 at the front and 2 play 1’s at the rear. The tv source will be in a different room and the projector in the ceiling.

I am a college student and I live with 4 other roommates. I have 3 play 1's, a playbar and a sub. I do not want any of my roommates to have access to my system. Sonos please make it so you have to log into your system when you download the controller!!!! This is extremely frustrating because I have spend a lot of money on these and I do not want them to have access to my speakers.

Wondering if someone can please explain what I need to do to get Dolby digital setting on my samsung tv. The Dolby digital option is greyed out and won’t let me change to anything only thing it allows me to select is pcm. I’m using a beam and 2x play ones in the about my sonos section of the app it says my audio input is stereo. There doesn’t seem to be a way for me to change my tv settings, when I try and change them on my Xbox it says to make sure my receiver is able to support (5.1 uncompressed) and when I change my sky a settings to Dolby digital the sound from the soundbar stops. I seem to only be able to receive stereo with this beam and it’s very frustrating

Would you consider adding a delay option to the Sonos One? My ZP90 hooked up to my Sony STR-DN1080 receiver outputs sound around 10-20ms behind the Sonos One. I understand that this is likely due to some processing in my receiver, but I can't get rid of it, even on direct or pure modes. Thus, there is no solution except getting a new receiver, or having Sonos enable a delay option under the advanced settings on the Sonos One so that I can delay its output slightly. Therefore, please add a delay option to Sonos One Room Settings/Advanced Room. Very few people will dig that far into the app and mess things up unless they need to tweak it, which I assume is your concern and why you don't give us the option. Thank you.

I have tried many different fixes to get my Sonos system to play correctly and it seems like nothing is working. I have 3 Sonos Connect: Amps and one Sonos Connect. All 4 are in my media cabinet and hardwired to an unmanaged network switch that is directly downstream of my main AP (Google Wifi). Because the Sonos systems are all hardwired into the network, I have WiFi for them turned off. Currently my network is set-up as follows: Fiber D-Mark ISP Provided Router/ Modem with Wifi turned off Google Wifi Main AP Unmanaged Switch Sonos Connect: Amp x3 + Sonos Connect I keep losing connection to the Sonos and getting the "Unable to Connect To Sonos Player" message as well as "Unable to add song to queue" messages while streaming from Spotify. Sometimes it will lose a room entirely, I've even had it lose 3 out of the 4 rooms. I have gone through and assigned static IP's on the Google Wifi so it doesn't assign a used IP address. Hi, I'm considering upgrading my receiver and was thinking about one of the new Works with Sonos receivers by Onkyo or Pioneer. What I'd like to know is some details (if there are any): - will the volume in the Sonos app control the volume of the receiver, or will it just adjust the volume coming from the Sonos Connect (so that would be why the settings videos state to set a default volume on startup - essentially an upper bound, or...?) - does optical work or there's a reason it needs to be RCA inputs? - when you stop playing, will it auto-switch back the input? - what would you do if you have a universal remote like a Harmony Hub, and the receiver auto-turned on for the Sonos Connect? The Harmony would be out of sync unless there's some way to get around this? - any other details we should be aware of?

Would it work to drive a pair of Play5s with Yamaha MusicCast pre-amp WXC-50?

I've seen the numerous requests for password/access control of Sonos devices... I understand this is not a feature and likely not planned to be included. Not a big deal... However, I run the IT department of a business and want to install Sonos here. I've already hooked up the Sonos: Connect and it works great. However, I would like to block all access to the Sonos (via App/Program/etc...) in a firewall to keep random customers/visitors/etc... from changing the audio to whatever they want. I've tried blocking access between devices on the network and the IP address of the Connect, but apps and desktops can still connect without issues. Does anyone know how devices connect to the Sonos and how I could look into blocking this access? I am not looking for firewall-specific instructions (I can handle configuration)... but I'm at a loss on the communication between apps and the Sonos itself... Maybe the apps connect to Sonos servers then bounce back to the device? Any help woul

Has anyone connected their Sonos system from an office location to their home? I'd like to know what I need to check to ensure that things work. I have a VPN connection between the office and the home. I am able to remote desktop without issue, but I can not seem to get the Sonos system to connect to the home network. Does the Sonos need to be able to access the server with the music directly? Can it be streamed? etc. Thanks, Ed

When I go to https://www.sonos.com/myaccount/mydata/ I do not see anything. I have never been able to see anything, despite having (I think) the settings turned on. When I look at what that page is calling (using Chrome's built-in tools) I see some successful API requests like: https://wsapi.sonos.com/api/users/:id/usage/playhours?groupBy=lifetime&pivot=aggregate and https://wsapi.sonos.com/api/users/:id/usage/playhours?groupBy=dayofweek&pivot=average,flattenedByHour But then I also see some 404 responses from APIs like: https://wsapi.sonos.com/api/users/:id/usage/playhours?groupBy=hour&pivot=aggregate and https://wsapi.sonos.com/api/users/:id/usage/playhours?groupBy=percentage&pivot=roomGroups Any thoughts on if I'm doing something wrong?

Hi Guys I've installed 15 Sonos speakers and a bridge two days ago. Two connected buildings two storey over basement, old, lots of granite walls. Bridge in comms room and a selection of speakers throughout the building Play 5, Play 3 and mostly play 1. No more than 20-30 feet between any speaker. On Sunday when I installed, everything worked perfectly and updated nicely. Speakers were all in a group, playing radio fine. Yesterday got a bit patchy after we installed spotify with speakers stuttering then stopping completely. Today nothing, in the Sonos App on a PC server I can only see four speakers and sometimes one or two will pop in and out. Really frustrating as the MD spent €2,500 on my recommendation. If I were to wire the speakers using the ethernet port at the back of the speakers, would this allow wired networking as opposed to wireless which may be patchy? I'm doing a renovation at the cottage, and added 3 Sonos:CONNECT to drive in-ceiling, porch and wall speakers. Initially I hard wired a PLAY-1 to the back of the router, and that enabled the Sonos network to the rest. It worked, but sometimes dropped sync between them. I finally got around to hard wiring the new Sonos:CONNECT. I daisy chained 2 CONNECT to the router, and initially let the other CONNECT and PLAY-1 use the sonos wireless network. I then ran a new Cat6 line to the 3rd CONNECT that isn't located with the other 2, and tested the line. The hardwire line worked great with the computer, but as soon as I plugged in the 3rd CONNECT, the whole network crashed. No WiFi or internet anywhere. After lots of trial and error, I discovered that if I connected this new Cat6 network as a daisy chain from the basement CONNECT, and NOT directly from a port on the router, it worked again (after rebooting the router). What is going on? May best guess is that the Sonos:CONNECT have a

Hi, is there any setting to allow for volume half steps on playbar? I have as audio for my TV and is either too low or too loud with one step in either direction..... Any thoughts are appreciated.

I'd like to add my PC (WMP) as a zone player so I can "Link Zone" with my PC and have that play what's playing on the other controllers. Does anybody have any idea if this has already been done, or if there are resources that would allow me to do it? 🆒

Hi, Have been noticing synchronization issues and dropouts between my various rooms when playing the same content everywhere. I have 5 stereo pairs in different rooms and 2 full 5.1 setups. Two of the stereo pairs were just added and that is when I started noticing these issues. It’s only happening when playing the same content in many rooms at once (seems like 4 or more is the threashold). I have a pretty robust Ubiquiti WI-FI system setup with 5 APs and great coverage. Figured it should be able to handle the load, but maybe not? Is this what the Boost is for?? Would it help? Thanks in advance!! Joe

I would just like to play the music from my media server over my Sonos speakers without having to have a connection to the internet. Is that such a hard thing to ask Sonos to provide ?

Hello community, This question probably has been asked before, but I can't seem to find it on the forums: Currently I own a sonos Playbar and Sub. I'm thinking about expanding it to a 5.1 surround setup with 2 play one's. However, I also want to listen to music every now and then with a play one in another room. I'm not planning on buying 3 of them, but I want to move a single play one between rooms. Is it easy to move one of the play one's to the study room and just listen to the music on that speaker? Is it also easy to move the speaker back to the living room whenever I want to watch a movie, or does it require setting up the room every single time? Thanks in advance for the answers!

My Sonos works terribly in my home. There’s got to be a way. Long story long. I’m not a techie. I barely function in 2018. The facts: I have a large stone house built in 1885 with 3 floors and horse hair plaster walls. Every floor has lots of rooms - no open concepts anywhere. I have received a total of 3x Sonos Play1 speakers as gifts over the last 3 years. My Sonos is so frustrating and I’d rather not even use it. I have major trouble connecting and controlling the music outside of 1 specific room - kitchen - where there is 1 of the 3 speakers and a router extender. My internet provider has serviced my house several times to make internet signal available and strong everywhere. 2 WiFi signals on the same network; a 5.0MGHz and a 2.4 MGHz The setup: 1st floor Living Room - 1x Play1 speaker; primary modem/ router Dining Room - nada Kitchen - 1x Play1 speaker; router extender 2nd Floor 3 Bedrooms - 1x WiFi extender Bathroom - nada

I have a large Kitchen/Cafe area in my house that's really all one room. I have three Sonos One's spread throughout that long area. Forcing me to create a "Kitchen" with a stereo pair and a "Kitchen 2" with the third (middle) speaker is ridiculous. I never want to play 1 or 2 of them without playing all 3. They're all one room. Grouping is great when you're talking about different areas, but it is a poor substitute for recognizing that people might want/need more than just two speakers in a room. My last house was just as bad, as it had a massive "great room" that included kitchen, cafe, living, and dining areas into one large room. Only the bedrooms and bathrooms were their own separate walled areas. Again, if I'm going to play speakers in a room I'd rather just assign them all to the same room and have them always play together. Why is this so hard to understand? Doesn't Sonos WANT to sell more than two speakers per room, if the customer's rooms are that large? Or do they prefer

Hello Community, I have a question on the new Sonos Amp. I have three sets of B&W speakers; 2 in-ceiling (CCM80) and 1 outdoor (WM6). They're all rated to handle up to 130W at 8ohms. They're connected to a single home run with each having their own Niles volume control (VCS100K) in their respective rooms. I would like just to have one amp since I have impedance matching volume controls for each speaker already in place. Here are my three scenarios: Scenario 1. If I run three 8ohm speakers on one channel with a 2x multiplier for the VCs, the total impedance is 5.3. I calculated the power output for 5.3ohms to be 188W. Assuming that calculation is correct, that's 63W/channel. That's really not too bad, but I'm looking to get more out of this amp since it's rated at 125W at 8ohms. This is the most likely and safest scenario. Scenario 2. If I adjust the Sonos Amp max volume to be around 80-90%, do I need to set the VC switch multiplier to 2x for each VC or will it be okay with it

G'day Sonos Fans. Please bare with me whilst I explain my scenario. ISP Router: 192.168.1.254 (static/DHCP) Wireless Bridge (Asus): 192.168.1.253 (static) 24 Port POE Switch (Dummy) 14 other Devices connected. Recently added sonos beam + sub, no issues worked flawlessly. Yesterday I added a Sonos Amp (x2) and Sonos Boost; It worked for a couple of hours; and at about the 4 hour mark my internet had shut off and ever since I've been playing with gremlins. I originally had the configuration as follows: ISP Router > Switch > Boost > AMP. After it broke I changed the AMP and BOOST to connect directly to the switch - I have not tried a different ethernet cable. I changed the Wireless Bridge to Auto channel and Sonos Boost to Channel 6 - No change in issue. Internally wireless connects, though cannot get to Google for example - sonos music unavailable etc. Externally my CCTV (LAN) + Solar inverter (Wireless) - I can connect to both outside of house network - ISP R

We have been long time users of Sonos equipment and it has worked flawlessly behind all of our previous routers at our locations. We have recently implemented Meraki MX90 and MX80 firewalls/routers at our main location and branch locations. After doing so we are no longer able to use the Sonos equipment. I can see the device on the network but can not connect to it and it doesn't connect out to the internet. I have enabled all the required ports, have whitelisted the device in the Meraki, and we still get nothing. Surely in all the Sonos world someone has come across a Meraki frontend...Any help would be appreciated.
