So I am trying to connect my sonos beam to my projector. However the projector only has the red, white, yellow, etc outlets and the beam has the digital optical cable. I bought the adapter but I have tried every possible way to get it to work however the sonos alway says it doesn’t detect any sound coming from the “tv” (projector). The projector work as we hve our PlayStation hooked up to it and it is playing that sound but not through the speaker. What else do I try..?
So your projector just has stereo output. In order to get surround sound I wouldn't attach the Beam then to the projector. I would attach the beam direct to the source of the video (optical output of the PlayStation) … using the supplied HDMI to Optical adapter that came with the beam.

What adapter did you buy?

The other option would be an HDMI ARC extractor between the TV and the Projector.

or one of these to pull optical out of the HDMI vs. cabling back to the playstation.

So your projector clearly has stereo output. So that you can get surround sound I wouldn't connect the Beam then to the projector. I might join the beam direction to the source of the video please look it - https://projectoreviews.com/dbpower-t22/
