Advanced setups

Hi,I have a Sonos Arc with Amp in my main room and like how easy the Sonos App makes it to select and play music from my Apple library. I also have a Ambeo Soundbar in another room and miss how easy it is to stream via the Sonos App. My question is, if I connect the Sonos Port to the Ambeo via RCA would this allow me to use the Sonos App to stream music in the same way it does with the Arc?Edit: Also will the steaming quality from the port the same quality as the Arc?Thanks. 

I am trying to run a mixed setup.  I have a Sonos Play 5 and Sonos Connect in my living room that Id like to remain wireless and connected via wifi.  My WIFI router is in the living room as well so there is a very good connection between the router and the 2 Sonos there.  I have another Sonos Connect and a Sonos Play 5 in the bar on the other end of the house.  The ones in the bar are hardwired because the wifi barely reaches there and I have problems when those units are connected via wifi.  The Connect (bar) is wired to the router and the Play 5 (bar) is wired to the other port on the Connect.  My goal is to have the 2 devices in the living room use WIFI, not SonosNet, and leave the Connect and Play 5 in the bar as wired.  I can get it to work a little while that way by setting up the Sonos system to use Wifi and disabling the wifi on the Connect and Play in the bar.  However, either the Connect or Play will turn back on the Wifi on it’s own after awhile.  The 2 Sonos in the living r

I read this post but it isn't clear to me whether one can use two different speaker models in multiroom mode. Can Roam and SL be used together in multiroom mode?

I have a place with an open kitchen. In the main area i have 2 sonos five and a sonos move grouped on an S2 system. In the open kitchen i want to connect my old play 5 gen 1 to play synchronized with the rest. I mainly use streaming audio via airplay. Downgrading the rest to S1 seems like restricting the available options, S1 doesn’t find the new fives, nor the Move. So the play 5 is not in the same system and thus not groupable with the S2 system. Is there any possibility to get this play 5 gen 1 with the rest? If necessary i can connect them with an aux cable, but i dont know if the Five has an aux out or aux in …. 

Hi I have an existing Bose lifestyle cinema surround sound for my tv. I was recommended to buy a port so as I could upgrade my existing system & speakers by adding Sonos, sub & speakers to the existing system for listening to music & enhanced cinema sound.I have managed to link the old & new speakers for music, but I am struggling for TV. 

Google is transitioning Google Drive Backup and Sync users to the new Google Drive for Desktop. I went ahead and made this change, but now I can’t connect Sonos to my music library. I get an error 1002 when attempting to connect to my music folder in the new drive that was mapped when I installed Google Drive for Desktop. Also, I have enabled offline access for this folder. Everything worked fine prior to the switch to the new Google Drive for Desktop.Does any have suggestions for how I can connect Sonos Desktop (for PC) Controller to the G:\Google Drive\Music Library folder? Will there be an update to the Sonos Controller to address this issue?P.S. I contacted Sonos support by phone. They directed me to this article, but otherwise were friendly and unable to advise a solution. Thanks in advance!

I’m designing a new great room and want to accomplish a couple of things:I want to have my turntable setup to play through my SONOS system I’m mounting a TV but don’t want to put my Beam or Arc under it for aesthetic reasons so am thinking of connecting the TV to 2 Sonance wall speakersAm I able to use an AMP to connect my TV and turntable into 2 Sonance wall speakers that would act as the speakers for the TV when it’s on, and the turntable when it’s on?Lastly, I would like to setup 2 outdoor Sonance but am not sure if I could wire them back to the TV/Turntable AMP.Side Note: currently we have a BEAM, MOVE, and 2 SONOS 1, so I’m assuming once I setup the AMP side of things, it can all integrate? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Hello,I currently have quite a few Sonos products for my house.•Arc•Sub•7 One’s•Move•2 Ikea Symfonisk Shelf I just bought a new home that we move into in Sept.  This house has in-ceiling speakers throughout the house, I didnt count, but looking at the photos I think its around 6-8 total.  These speakers are all setup under one zone, so there is no separating them.   I would like to add those speakers to my Sonos system as a zone. I am not sure what the best way to do this though.  The wiring from what the current owner said, is in the living room and setup in the wall, but from what I can tell, its only one channel that they are all on (which is why its only one zone). From what I can see, I can get a Sonos amp, but it says only 4 speakers.   Does anyone have a thought from the brief info that I have.  Once I move in I will be able to tell more, but if it is an easy setup, I would like to buy everything before I move in. Thanks for your help!

Hi to everyone,I need to install systems with multiple Sonos Amp amplifiers.I would like to set up the amplifiers in the office before taking them to the customer.I have created a user for my client on the Sonos app in my office (internet with my router 192.168.33.1) I install Sonos amp in my office I found and added the various amps Then I go to the customer to install the amplifiers (internet with his router 192.168.33.1, same network class) I log into the application using the credentials previously created in the office The amplifiers are already paired in another system and I don’t see them.Why???How can I recreate the customer situation in my office?Do I need to have his router to associate devices with the account?I hope to explain well the situation, I need to configure devices (upgrade device and configure with the new client account that I create) in the office before install them into the house fo client.Thank you so much to everyone who can help me 

I’ve moved all my speakers onto my 3 ap unifi network and I general it’s ok. I was having issues when I had a boost running along side the unifi.  what I’m seeing at the moment, is if I play high quality files from Amazon music, and group a few speakers, then some speakers in the group drop out audio and come back in.  for example, I can see my kitchen speaker is streaming the music from the internet in my unifi console, and the other speakers must be using Sonos connection back to this speaker as they are not using a lot of WiFi bandwidth. The conservatory drops in and out audio wise.  if I play something locally which isn’t as high quality from my nas, then it seems more stable, and even more so if I play the radio from the internet.  im assuming there must be interference between the kitchen and the conservatory. Is there a cut of point where Sonos decides it’s going to use the WiFi instead of one speaker talking to the other directly?

I’m putting in an Arc to go with my new TV setup. It’s my first bit of Sonos kit. I plan to expand to other speakers for that room and others in the house later.  The location also lends itself well to putting my record player there and I would like to connect it to the Arc. Most suggestions I see for this involve buying some other Sonos component—the Play5, Amp, Port, etc. The thing is, I don’t want to add a set of non-Sonos speakers, or a Sonos speaker in that location. A Play5 doesn’t make sense so close to the Arc. It also seems if you go the non-speaker route, you’d have to get a preamp unless your record player already has one. In my reading, it seems that it would be possible to hook up the turntable up via optical (going to use HDMI for the TV). I know that the audiophiles will collectively gasp going analog to digital, but that’s what works for me now. Someday, I’ll have a dedicated room/setup for vinyl, but not now.  Turntables with optical out are both rare and expensive. Tr

I plan to run 3 pairs of Sonos/Sonance in-ceiling speakers off of one (1) Sonos Amp.  I would like to be able to control the volume of each of the pairs independently.  I have been investigating two options:Utilize a speaker selector with volume controls.  I’ve seen several on amazon from Niles, Pyle, Russond, etc. Utilized individual in-wall volume controls.  I’m looking at the Niles VSC100k volume controller.  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007N0TB14/?coliid=I2OEKYW122JM5P&colid=1E2M3IRSRYJHX&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_itDoes anyone have an opinion on the pros and cons of each option?  Is one option a clear choice? Thanks in advance,Todd

I’m a software developer creating a service for SONOS. I used to be able to use the form at http://:1400/customsd.htm to add my test service to the device, but it no longer works (although the form tells me “Success!” when I submit it). Is there still a way to do this? I’ve factory-reset the SONOS several times and uninstalled and reinstalled the app.

Hi,Ive searched the forums and can’t seem to find my question, although I’m sure it is already asked.  I have a Sonos Amp with a REL sub and KEF LS50 META’s as stereo speakers.  Is it possible to set up a the Sonos Ones or Ones SL as surround speakers? Also, given the KEF speakers are quite powerful would they drown out the Ones?Thank you. 

I have two completely different music setups - the first is a Sonos network with 4 S2 speakers and a Roam. The second comprises Radford amp plus Cambridge pre-amp, Linn Selekt, Tannoy Arden speakers. I like to listen to music on the Ardens but often would like to send a song to a Sonos speaker so my wife can hear in her den! Is there any way that I could connect the two systems in this way. I use Qobuz a lot and whilst this is accessible through Sonos or through the Selekt I want them joined! Is this possible? Many thanks.

Can i  directly connect sonos sub woofer to Apple HomeKit room using airplay 2 assuming I have already added a sonos one speaker to this room. (Bypass Sonos app) 

Hello, I understand that a Sonos Roam cannot connect to SonosNet. So, What happens when you have a SonosNet Setup and you want to add a Roam to your system? Do you need to change all your system to WiFi setup, or would the Roam be able to interact somehow with the rest of system that it's using SonosNet? What have been your experiences in this regard? Thanks in advance, Ricardo

Documenting my experiences here in case others run into the same issues.I upgraded my home wifi to a wifi6 mesh network using 3 ASUS RT-AX92U routers.I have a existing sonos system consisting of a PlayBar, a Sub, two Ikea Symfonisk surround  speakers in a home theater setup. Then an additional Ikea Symfonisk speaker in a separate room.At first installation of my routers I immediately upgraded to the latest firmware version, 3.0.0.4.386_41712When I was finished with my wifi setup, using the sams SSID ad password. I saw in the Asus app that my speakers was connected but they would not play anything from the Sonos app. Not from Spotify, nor radio channels.The TV sound worked in all speakers though.I went through the wifi setup procedure in the Sonos app several times with no success.Then I tried to connect my PlayBar with an ethernet cable. Then I could play music from both the Sonos app and the Spotify app.I wasn’t completely satisfied with this setup because my standalone speaker speake

I found a solution to DJing with Sonos. The RCA output of the Dj console goes into bluetooth transmitter 5.0 , can use along with Headphone amplifier unit, and the bluetooth receiver , preferably of the same company, takes the spdif output to playbar. Is it possible to play an audio file on my computer speakers (non-Sonos), and have the same audio be playing seamlessly on a Sonos speaker in another room?

I have an Arc with the Sonos wall mount which is mounted into a brick wall. The amount of sound that goes into the wall and therefore into the room on the other side of the wall is too much.Has anyone tried dampening the sound, such as putting in a sound absorbent panel cut to the shape of the mount in between the wall and the mount? As it is it’s just too loud in the other room.I see Sanus make a different wall mount that extends from the wall and also a mount that attaches to the TV, so perhaps I will have to use a different mounting method if there’s nothing that can be done here with the Sonos wall mount.Thanks for any advice!

I am setting up a new sonos ecosystem in a basement and could use some help.My planned setup is to have two Sonos Amps.  Amp 1 will power 6 in-ceiling Sonos Sonance speakers, and Amp 2 will power two large floor standing Cerwin Vega VS-150 speakers.  I am going to purchase a turn table that will have a pre-amp built in, and I’d like to understand the best way to connect the turn table to both amps.  I expect that most of the time I will want to listen to vinyl through Amp 2, but there may be times when I want to push a record to the entire basement via the ceiling speakers.I’ve read that switch boxes are not the best option, and I am not sure that a simple Y-Cable is going to be sufficient.  What I don’t want to do is need to move the line in from one Amp to the other manually.Really appreciate your input!Mike

Ok, so I’ve seen the posts about people trying to have a single system across two houses, and that’s NOT what I’m trying to do here.  I have two houses, they are connected via a Site to Site VPN to be able to access things like my wireless controller, and network management system.  I have two Sonos systems, one in each house.  Both houses have different WiFi networks and use different subnets. I had Sonos set up and working in House #1 a year ago, and just added it to House #2.  On the device I used to set up Sonos on the new house, all I see is the new house system.  But on any other device logged into the same Sonos account, all they see is the Sonos system in House #1.  I can’t find any way to get the app to see the system in the house that I’m physically in (house #2). The Sonos app is supposed to note that it’s not on House #1’s WiFi network and shift over to the new system on House #2 Wifi, but it doesn’t.  When I go into Manage Networks and I’m at House #2, I still see the WiFi

Newbie here..About to purchase a sub Gen 3 and wonder this placement for vertical position.  This place I propose is just near to corner of wall and furniture. Based on this dimension, after placement for this new sub, I’m expecting both side gaps will be about 70mm.   it is sufficient for a better bass reproduction or what is min limitation should I consider.   

I am installing a new home and will have the sonos amps in recessed low voltage boxes behind the TVs. In one particular box there will be a samsung one connect box, apple TV, and sonos amp. Is there any threat of the sonos amp overheating? The amp gets fairly warm in a rack, just concerned about it being with other items that get warm, especially in an enclosed space with no air movement.
