Advanced setups

HiI am facing strange issue with DHCP. In my network i have two piholes running as DNS and DHCP server. All clients seems to be ok with this setup except sonos devices (arc, sub and 2 ikeas symfonisk)Devices simply refuses to accept offered ip address. Hi there was a post a few years ago about issues linking X14 and Sonos. There was a solution but it was noted on any of the relies.Can any one remember what the solution was as I’m having the same issues with the X14. X10 was never a problem but upgraded as X10 is at the end of its life.Thanks.

Hi Everyone,  working with a friend of mine to find a solution for him. Currently he’s using a Denon Receiver with which have inputs of an Apple TV, Cable Box and DVD Player then a single output to the TV through HDMI.  Then when he wants to use the headphones he plugs the audio cable into the front of the receiver to push audio to the Headphones.  The Denon is beginning to have some audio issues so we’re coming up with another solution… Remove the Denon and the DVD player since it’s never used.  Apple TV and Cable Box run through separate HDMI to the TV with eARC from the Samsung TV out to the Sonos ARC.   The TV has an Optical out which we could run to the base of the Sennheiser RS175.   What would be the best way to hook this up?  He doesn’t want audio to come out of both ARC and Headphones, but have the option to choose one or the other. Thank you!

I got my karaoke setup to work well, but I don’t want to keep unplugging the input into the Beam whenever I’m switching between watching tv vs. singing karaoke.Regular TV Setup: SmartTv => Beam via HDMI eARCKaraoke setup: SmartTv => Mixer via HDMI eARC; Mixer => Beam via Optical&HDMI adapterIs there a way to keep these both set up simultaneously by using two switches to flip between the signals? For example:SmartTv=>switch=>Beam or Mixer… then I’d need another switch just before the Beam to flip between the SmartTV signal (that passes through first switch) or the Mixer signal.

Bit of confusion regarding SonosNet - I currently have several Sonos speakers and a Port connected via Ethernet for max stability and to minimize latency, and I have a few (two Sonos Ones and a Roam) that are showing up as WM:1 in About My System. I was under the impression that WM:1 means they’re in wireless mode (e.g. connected to my ASUS router, not SonosNet), but I also have read that as soon as you wire at least 1 speaker to Ethernet, SonosNet is created and all speakers (except possibly the Roam) should show WM:0 to indicate SonosNet is active. What gives? I don’t actually mind the speakers using the ASUS router’s wifi, but I have to finally give in and update the firmware to use some new AIMesh features and based on reading around the forum it seems like the newer firmware is still causing Sonos speakers to drop off the network. Thinking if I can get them on SonosNet instead that should avoid the issue. Thanks!

I’ve just installed BT full fibre with their Smart Hub 2 router, and initially, it could not connect to my Sonos Arc. (The sonos app could not see the network). I read all the suggestions online, that all seem to date from about a year ago, and nothing worked - I unplugged the digital voice adapter for the phone, I turned off 5 ghz, but it still didn’t work.I then switched the router to ‘mode 3’, and it connected fine, and is now working fine. Looking at BT’s advice, it seems that ‘mode 3’ means the router is working in ‘b/g and a’ mode, rather than ‘g/n and a/n/ac’, which is apparently better. I’m wondering what the differences are between these modes, and if, now that the Sonos has recognised and connected to the network, I can try switching it back to the better mode?  

I am trying to get an audio input signal into my system for watching TV on our patio outside of our MBR (Master Bedroom).  On this MBR patio, I already have a pair of outdoor speakers fed by a Connect:Amp labeled “Patio” that I would like the ability to listen to while watching the MBR’s Television. Currently we watch the MBR TV through a typical 5.1 home theatre style AVR system, an older Onkyo HT-RC160 and do not use the TV’s audio at all.  The TV (Sony XBR-85X900H) is only used for Video which is fed from the AVR through an HDMI.  When outside on the patio with the doors shut during hot or cold weather we have to crank up the (non Sonos) AVR which is a little annoying to others in the house.  I would really like to use the current Patio outdoor speakers which are right there already installed.The Onkyo AVR has HDMI inputs from multiple sources, a Dish Network STB, a PC, a PS4 and an older Connect labeled “MBR”In my home, I have several of the older style Sonos’ Connect:Amps, Connect

I have recently swapped from Virgin to BT broadband with a smart hub 2.  I can’t get my Play3 to connect to the new router.  I have read multiple threads on here and the firmware is up to date. I have tried disabling the 5ghz channel on the router but it makes no difference.  I get an error message each time.  Any advice greatly appreciated.

Når det så er oprettet og jeg prøver at få den koblet på wifi så lykkedes det ikke. Når konfigurationen når til punktet hvor højttaleren skal forbindes til det midlertidige wifi “SONOS” så forsøger den men skriver at det mislykkedes. Jeg har aktiveret wifi i indstillingerne for Play:5 i Sonos appen.  Jeg investerede i en Boost i håb om at den kunne redde det, men det kunne den ikke. Hvad kan der være galt siden wifi ikke virker i højttaleren?

I have moved into a new house that has 2 outdoor in-cieling speakers (6 ohm) and 2 external speakers (8 ohm) are already in place and wired back to a central point. I am not sure what the last guy used to power but I would like to use the Sonos AMP.Can I wire a 6 and 8 ohm speakers in parallel? Same total impedance on left and right?    

I am about to build a garden room remote from my main house.  I will run 2 Cat6 cables from the house router to the room (as a contingency) but am wondering if I could connect one directly to my new Sonos amp while using the second cable to connect directly to a wireless access point to establish my wi-fi.  Any downsides to this and any recommendations for a new access point would be appreciated.  I assume if one of the Cat6 cables fail in the future that I could use a simple ethernet switch upstream of both the access point and Sonos Amp? 

Hi team, what is the policy at Sonos regarding new Sonos ONE speakers and S1 app?I just bought my 5th speaker (Sept 2022) a Sonos ONE Gen 2 and when adding it, it says it works only with S2.Is this a way to force your first customers to move to S2 and replace a perfectly working old amp which requires the S1 app?PLEASE do not answer you are sorry about this, just provide a clear answer. Thanks

I’ve had a few discussions with people here.  We concluded that I had the wrong channels selected on my WiFi/Sonos system.  Changing those helped a lot.  Now I’m having issues with the three installation options.  One solves the issues I have, but creates other ones.  I have an Orbi AC3000 with 3 satellites.  I have 21 Sonos Nodes powering 24 speakers (one is Amp with L/R/S).  Three are BT capable (so no SonosNet).My gold standard is being able to stream HDMI audio sources or a streaming song everywhere, hearing the first chord, and experiencing no drop outs.The three options are:Amp plugged into Orbi Satellite Ethernet with WiFi on, generating SonosNet for all my speakers that are wireless.  Several are plugged into Orbi (base or satellite) with wifi off.  Audio plays 99% perfectly.  Starts instantly, is smooth, adjustments are fast (volume, pause, seek).  But, I see like 30% of my network requests fail.  It’s like a request goes down a Sonos node and then just hang.  So apps/stuff ju

Recently, have purchased Sonos Move via the official Sonos app with the following concerns -1. There is no voice assistant in India except Sonos Voice control. When shall we have this in place?2. It's challenging to press the mode button sometimes as it doesn't detect the pressing of it.3. It takes a very long time to switch to Bluetooth and to connect the already paired or searching device/new device.4. Bangalore, India's support team is not efficient.5. Any solution to switch off the Sonos move via Mobile App since the app doesn't have any advanced features it works with the basic ideology that doesn't even detect incoming calls. Sonos Move should at least detect the incoming calls and take necessary steps such as pausing the music.6. The sound quality and clarity have gone after the last update.7. When are we planning to launch advanced features such as audio quality and its type(eq) etc?8. Whenever I connect it with Tv, the sound lags and hang midway, killing the audio vibes and sp

Forgive me if this has been discussed where I missed it, but…I’ve read a lot about the difficulty with should lag when playing from Sonos Connect, Port or similar through an AV receiver using DSP, assuming I want synced music from both the Sonos zones and the AVR’s wired speakers.  From what I gather, setting speaker output on the AVR to 2-channel/direct is the only workaround (and still dependent on the AVR model) as it reduces the DSP time to more closely sync with the Sonos.What about a scenario where instead of the Port or Connect originating the source music and running line into the AVR, the AVR originates the source signal and sends line out to the Connect?  It looks like many AVRs now support various streaming services.Thanks for any thoughts. 

Hi,I have 19x Sonos Play 1, - and music playing throughout the house. However, when they are not playing and I am sleeping they still consume 3.7W each, (~70W combined) to no use at all. They are therefore configured to all by on the same electrical circuit on which I have a kill switch, so that they all go offline. This was originally thought of as a way to kills my teenage kids playing music too late or just when we left the house for a few days. But now it seems silly/lack of respect for finite resources, not to use this each night when I know they will not play. However, - I then run into the regrouping issue. Before I can start playing music, manually or automatically, - I need to fiddle with the Sonos App to regroup all the speakers.  A feature, where on restart a speaker goes back into its default group would be great. This allows greater convenience, and allows me and others to turn the whole thing off at night and save electricity - for our individual and collective benefit. I

I’ve moved to a new house and wanting to set up multi room music streaming by integrating my NAIM hi-fi (Uniti Core music server and XP5 XS2 streamer, plus amps and speakers) with my Sonos system (Arc and two Play:1’s acting as surround sound for my LG television) and adding a couple of extra Sonos speakers for kitchen and patio.  Problem is that the Sonos system does not show the Core as either a uPnP source or as a music server.  After reading some posts that perhaps my ASUS Zen mesh network was the problem, I’ve added a switch and now everything is hardwired to either the switch (Core, XS2, LG-TV and Arc) or to the router (Both Play:1’s and obviously the switch is hardwired back to the router).  The LG tv can “see” the Core and play music from it via the LG media app. The Sonos can play from other music sources (eg Amazon Music). The NAIM streamer is very happy to play music off the NAIM core. Any suggestions why Sonos can’t see the NAIM core as a uPnP source?  

Hi all, Really hoping someone can help. I’ve had 4 speakers hard wired into the ceilings with good quality speaker cable. 2x left and 2x right.The cables are too thick to fit 2 into a single banana plug that came with the amp. I purchased some stackable banana plugs instead which the cables fit into fine BUT the actual “plug” bit is too big for the holes in the back of the amp?! They fit fine in my Blue Sound amp. Please help :(

I recently purchased the Sonos Port and the Project T1 SB turntable so I could connect it to a set of move speakers and listen to vinyl.  Overall I’m happy with the sound quality, the stereo effect is quite good and it has the expected warmth and depth that comes with vinyl. There are however two things I’m trying to understand better to see if it’s worth adding.  connecting either a Bluetooth transmitter so I can use my Sony XM4 headphones with it, or buying a headphone pre-amp and wired set adding a DAC pre-ampOn number 1, I believe I can just connect this to the line out plugs on the port and either power a wired set or connect my Sony headphones to it, is that correct? Has anyone done this?On number 2, I’m not sure there’s any point in adding an external pre-amp or DAC component if I’m not connecting it to analog speakers, since it’s the port that streams to the Sonos Moves. Is my understanding right? Appreciate any guidance as I’m new to this type of stuff  

I have a large local flac library that is too big for the Sonos indexing system (about 70 000 songs). To be able to play all music via my Sonos system, I've simply attached my laptop to one of my play 5’s via the 3.5mm jack. Music is played on my windows laptop by a separate player (Winamp, I'm old school).However I feel that the quality of the flac files is not fully appreciated using this setup. Is there a better solution available?

Hi all,Listening to music on the Beam/Ones/Sub setup is not great. I really enjoy the HT experience, but even when setting the “Surround Audio > Music Playback” to “Full” it’s just not as good as the 2.1 setup of Ones as left & right plus the sub.However switching between the two modes requires breaking the HT config, creating a stereo paring, and, then breaking that go back to HT -- but even worse it loses the True Play which has a huge impact in our room (a combined kitchen / living space).It’s frustrating, and I am looking at other non-Sonos options for music listing in the same space, just so as to leave the Sonos HT config alone.Does anyone know how things are going on the Sonos software features side that could allow for this?Have they announced anything? Is there at least beta testing underway?

Please add two wifi switches.  One for 2.4GHz SonosNet/data and one for 5GHz used during ad-hoc surround/sub usage.  I want incoming data handled over Ethernet but still need the 5GHz for bonded speakers.
