What to get

As a Developer wanting to market a property that has been cabled for Sonos and includes In-ceiling speakers, I want to show off the Sonos music system to potential purchases but will not be investing in a Broadband contract as that will be left to the eventual purchaser. I wish to connect 2 pairs of speakers to 1 Connect AMP and play music from my phone. I tried installing a router for this purpose but the set up on Sonos no-longer allows me to do this as it did in previous years. Can you advise please? Jo

I didn't do enough homework on our new construction project. I have New wired speakers in 6 areas - but just removed a wired 5.1 set up in the great big room with 22ft ceilings. My plan now is to get a few connect amps for the wired speakers and I'm looking at a Playbar, sub, and Play 3's for the 5.1 system... and maybe supplement with a play 5 later... I know if I set it up right I'll be able to play specific music in specific zones. My question is - will it all sound good if I play the same music in ALL the zones? Including the 5.1 set up?

Hi. I've been on the fence regarding jumping into the Sonos ecosystem. I generally have apple products but have a couple google homes and a few(4) chrome cast audios to hack together whole house music. Controlling it through the google music/home app kinda sucks to be honest and doesn't pass the wife reliability test. I have at least 3 existing speaker systems that I need to drive separately from whatever smart(ish) speaker a system has but that should integrate for a whole house experience. In addition to that need 3(ish) separate speakers for Kitchen/Dining Room/Bedroom/ and 1 or 2 places more maybe(ish). I would lie if I said I wasn't waiting to see how HomePod shook out. Then my dad got me a Sonos 1 last week as a birthday gift. Its cool and I might take advantage of the $350 for 2 more Sonos One deal but here is my dilemma. I bought my Dad a play bar for Christmas/birthday/fathers day. He loves it. It is the first piece to replace his old, terribly outdated and terrible surround sound system. He hooked it up with no issues. But......he has his cable box, Xbox and dvd player to hook up to it. How do you control the volume of the Xbox or any other device? I was looking to get him a simple receiver to plug into for all of his HDMI devices and then have the optical out of the receiver to the sound bar. He does not want all of the cables hanging from the back of his TV because its mounted on the wall. He just purchased the sub and wanted to get Play 1s for the rear to round out his "theater". What are your suggestions on getting all of this together in the most cost effective way to have any source come through the Sonos system?

I have 2 play 3 speakers and wonder whether it will be worth getting a connect, amp or play5? I will most probably use them in seperate rooms as i have a home cinema system that i am looking to connect in the loop

I'm currently thinking of buying a Sonos speaker mainly for streaming music from my old Macbook Pro 2009. I don't have an iPhone and/or use any sort of music streaming stuff such as Spotify or Apple Music as I'm still quite old fashioned. So the setup is quite easy. I have all my mp3's on my computer which I play through either iTunes or VLC. My question is, if it is possible to play the music on my computer and listen to it on the Sonos, without having to use their app. I don't need to control it (increasing volume, skipping song, etc.) using Sonos. All I really do need it is to have sound coming out of the wireless speaker without any extra app. Is that possible or does it always needs the fancy Sonos app? Thanks

We are looking to get a sonos system in our office space. Our office is one large room 1600 sq ft approx with 20 ft high ceilings and a mezzanine. We are looking at wall mounting speakers. We need advice on - How many speakers do we require - Which speakers are best for a 1600sq ft / 20ft ceiling height space with a mezzanine - How to achieve an even distribution of sound Thanks

Ok I have 2 play 1s and a Sub setup for my music. I find this great apart from i'm missing mid to top range when playing music. I was thinking of adding a playbar to the setup and was wondering if this would make any difference (worthwhile) to the sound. I'm not really worried about TV since it would be just for music.

Have a room a little bit larger than 25x25, say 700+ sq ft and 8’ ceilings. In one quadrant I’ll be purchasing a Playbase for the TV. I set a $600 budget to spend for supporting Sonos speakers so that we can use the room for occasional parties and thus party music with some bass. Assuming the Playbase handles the bass, this budget surrounded itself cause it’s about what it would take to purchase these options: 1 Play 5 2 Play 3’s 4 Play 1’s Thanks ahead of time for your input.

Hi, I'm thinking of getting a Sonos system starting with a Sonos Play 1 or Sonos One. One thing we'd want to do is leave music playing though the day to help keep the dog happy and therefore I think we need some sort of media server or NAS as I'll have my phone with me. Getting a NAS (even a cheap one) or a WD My Book type device basically doubles the price of the system so I'm wondering if I can use some of the gear I already have. What would be the pros and cons of these options with regards to effectiveness, ease and electricity use?! 1) PS3 2) Laptop 3) Old mobile phone Our router doesn't have a USB so I can't just slap a hard drive into that unfortunately. I'm playing on buying two Ones. I know for home theater, adding a Playbar and Sub will provide 5.1 sound but I'm wondering how much better music will sound by adding the 5.1 package. That an extra $1,400. Is it worth it? Or asking a different way, if the music will truly be much better with the 5.1 package, would two Play:5s be better choice than the 5.1 package? Thanks

Hi all, I'm new to getting stereo/AV equipment and was looking into which Sonos products should fit my need before making the purchase and some advice on how to setup. Currently I have a Pioneer VSX-820 receiver with surround sound speakers already hooked up to front, rear, and second room/outside channels. I'm looking to have the ability to stream music through the receiver while playing a separate input on the TV. Is it possible to do this with my receiver? From what I understand, Sonos: Connect and/or Connect AMP should do the trick? Not sure what would best fit my needs. From this setup and my current receiver, do I also need the bridge? So they come out with Sonos One which has the Alexa app on it, but you can't pair it to an existing Sonos Play 1. Extremely disappointed! After investing over $3,000 on this system and Sonos pull this crap, I will immediately stop telling people to purchase this product which I previously strongly recommended.

I currently have a 20+ year old system, including 2 Bose Accoustimass 5 speakers wired into the ceiling and subwoofer in one room and a pair of wired speakers in another, with an receiver and CD player. I'd like to wirelessly stream music but don't want to rip out my ceiling speakers, but can upgrade the rest of the system. I don't know anything about this stuff - is there a set up that can work with the current Bose?

TV and DVD Players compatible with my Playbar. SONY BDPS6700 DVD PLAYER: Converts DTS and everything else I've tested to Dolby Digital 5.1 BUT remember not all TV'S will pass it through. The DVD player also has it's own audio delay setting. VIZIO E55-E2: Will take in Dolby Digital 5.1 from all sources, including a Samsung and Sony DVD players I tested, and pass it to the PlayBar. The VIZIO can also adjust the audio delay but it is global, not per channel like the LG below. SONY XBR55X800E: Will take in Dolby Digital 5.1 from all sources, including DVD players, and pass it to the PlayBar. BUT it does not have an audio delay feature, and so the audio on the play bar was very delayed compared to the TV. If all your devices can adjust the delay than this may not be an issue. LG 55UJ6300: Will take in Dolby Digital 5.1 passed from some sources like my Fire TV, but for some reason not from two different DVD Players (Samsung and Sony) that worked fine on the Vizio a

Hi I have a full wireless sonos system at home using my wifi. I also have a wireless waterproof speaker that I'd like to have outside on the terrace. Can this be added to my sonos system without using cables? I have purchased a sonos zp90 to use my sonos system with a tv, but I don't know if this also can be used to add a non-sonos speaker without using cables?

I am new to Sonos but about to buy. I have read a lot but don't know the technology or the Sonos App so would appreciate clarifying the following. I plan to get a Playbase for TV. I am also thinking 2 Play:1 or 2 Play :3. These would be used either as part of a 5.1 setting, or in kitchen and dining room when we have guests or long dinners. Is it easy to move the speakers from being stereo in surround sound setting to single speakers in different rooms? Or does it require major reconfiguration each time they move? We are liable to end up with them in 1 place and maybe extend the system, but want to start with something that is viable for both configurations and see how that goes. The reason for Play:3 vs Play:1 is thinking they could be used as individual speakers. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks, Jim

Which product would you recommend? I'm sure this has been asked plenty of times before but is there a way to setup a pair of these with a smart tv or will there be a way in the future potentially with tech advancements (airplay)? I'd love to stereo pair and wall mount them next to my TV. It's mind boggling how there isn't a line in on all their products as I'm sure plenty of ppl are looking to do the same as me. $700 for a playbase is just out of my budget.

We bought a house with a Denon receiver and 5 BOSE Built-INvisible amplifiers - we're familiar with the SONOS world and I kept our CONNECT:AMP because I thought it may be helpful here... I'm wondering if I can connect 5 Connects or Connect:AMPs to these wired speakers and rock and roll, there are 14 different sets of BOSE speakers running off of individual volume knobs in various rooms and outdoor spaces... I would hire a specialist, but we live in a small place and there is no one like that for over 100 miles. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi all, We are about to build a new house and will be finalizing the electrical plan soon. I currently only have a Play 1 but am planning to add to it over the next few months and want to ensure I consider what wiring is required for the house build. I can't just go out and buy everything as am on a budget so wondering if you could advise what sort of a setup I could achieve for under $1000. I'm building a double storey house, living downstairs with open plan and outdoor entertaining area with pool. The downstairs living area is the main area I'm interested in linking with Sonos. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
