So - I've got a pair of Play 1s in my bedroom. I want to put a single play 1 in each of my kids' bedrooms (2 other bedrooms). Currently the Play 1s are ceiling mounted in corners of my bedroom and it's lovely and I use them to listen to music or watch tv (about 50/50). I'm thinking of either replacing the ones in my bedroom with 2 play 3's and moving the play 1s to the kids rooms. I think this gets me a little more bass and the play 3's still seem small enough to put in the corners of my ceiling? Alternately, I'm thinking of getting a subwoofer for the mbr and just getting 2 new play 1s for the other rooms. This has the advantage of the least amount of work. :) Any thoughts on these solutions? Or other ones I haven't thought of?
We are looking at purchasing a Sonos system for our office but we have a few specific requirements. I think we would probably get several Play 1 speakers and a Connect base station. These will all be on a wired Ethernet network. 1) Can we disable the volume controls on the speakers? We have problems when staff have control over the volume level. 2) Can we reduce the bass frequencies to an absolute minimum? We have one team who usually listen to music on a closed Macbook Air and they don't want a full frequency response speaker. 3) Can the volume of all speakers be controlled centrally? 4) Is there a client available for Macs and PCs that will enable playback of the streamed content using the computer's built-in speakers? Thanks
Hello, I am wanting to enter the wireless world and free up some real estate and clean up our old ,but trusty multizone home theatre.I am looking at purchasing a Playbar, Sub, 2 Play 5's for rears and a connect amp to power my weather rated outdoor speakers. I like to have the ability to listen to music outside in stereo, while the wife or kids are watching tv or a movie in surround inside. We also enjoy watching movies or tv outside in the hot summer months through our big window where we see the tv...while hangin out in the pool...just in stereo is fine with just the two outdoor speakers. Is this possible with the sonos? With my yamaha rxv 2500..I just hit watch tv outside and with harmony remote it would switch automatically and voila! Just wondering if it would do it and if its not to encumbersome to do so before I make this awefully large purchase...cheers and thank you for any help.
Hi everyone… my first post here… (apologies it’s a long one)! I’m sure I’m not alone in having to juggle with integrating Sonos and historic AV equipment.... In the last year or so I have bought two Play 3’s - for the kitchen and dining room. They’ve done the job brilliantly. In my lounge I have the following setup: an old 42” Panasonic plasma TV connected to a Denon AVR-2312 - with B&W left, right and centre speakers. This setup works perfectly when watching TV - the sound when watching movies etc is amazing, even without a sub. The problem I have is when I want to listen to music. My Denon AVR no longer connects to my router - so I can’t stream music directly from my iPhone or Mac. The USB connection on the front of the AVR is also now not working! Research tells me these issues are not uncommon with Denon AVRs. At the moment, I connect an old Apple TV to my AVR and use Airplay. This works - but isn’t as slick as it should be! Yesterday, I decided to experiment and
I'm looking to buy a pair of Play 5s and a connect. I need the connect because I want to use headphones. I own an Arcam Alpha CD player and Arcam A85 amp and a pair of Sennheisser HD 540 wired headphones. My wired speakers are old and no longer working. I really need to use headphones and my wife is desperate to keep the CD player( and yes I know I can stream the music and don't need it but my Wife wants to be able to play CDs as she hates apps of any sort). So my questions/options are: 1. Can i buy Sennheisser RS 185 Wireless headphones and use these with the connect and play 5s and plug my Arcam Cd player into the connect so my wife can use autoplay to play Cds through the Play 5s? 2. Can I use the Arcam A85 and Arcam CD player with the connect and Play 5s and use the headphone socket on the Arcam A85 with my old Sennheisser HD540 wired headphones as an alternative. Please remember that in each case no conventional wired speakers will be attached to the Arcam amp. Sorry to be l
Just trialling a Play 5 and a pair of Play 1s, and as per title I am wondering why anyone would pay £100 more for 1 Play 5 when they could get 2x Play 1s and have, what seems to my battered old ears at any rate, a better sound with greater stereo image?
Hello, We already own a play 5, and are looking to build to create a fuller sound in our living room and bedroom. Living room is L shaped (with a poor acoustics layout) with our Play 5 currently residing under our TV on the exterior corner of the short L and visible from most anywhere in the room (where I would like to stay), but as the room is 12' x 22' in extreme measurements I find that the Play 5 doesn't fill the space as well as I'd like, would adding a Play 1 in the middle of the long section of the room on the exterior wall help comeplete the fullness or should I knock it up to a Play 3. The bedroom is 9' x 20' would a Play 3 be sufficient in the middle of one of the short walls or should I do a Play 3 and Play 1 combo... Please don't respond with Play bars or anything to pricey, I'm trying to keep this wallet friendly.
I know that this question has been asked before in other post, but I want to ask for my case specifically. I'm trying to figure out if Sonos is right for me. On the surface it seems like the perfect solution but I'm not sure yet. I have a Pioneer VSX-930 setup with Dali Concept 10 front speaking and a Dali Concept center speaking. The rear speakers are of a cheaper kind and the sub is a also of different make (but I've actually used the system without the sub a year now). I have my PC, PS4 and Xbox One connected to the receiver via HDMI and the receiver is connected to the TV via HDMI (LG 65UF860V). Now, I know that I won't get the same sound quality with the Sonos 5.1 system but I think the benefits will outweigh the negatives, which are streaming, possibility of adding other units to the house, fewer cables and more compact units. The idea is to connect PC, PS4 and Xbox One to the TV via HDMI and connect the TV to the Playbar via optical cable (this is the setup I hear peop
Currently renovating my house, while the drywall is off, I figure it's a good time to install some ceiling speakers on the main floor (kitchen, living room, etc.). Trying to decide between 6.5" and 8" speakers, e.g.: https://www.polkaudio.com/products/mc60 https://www.polkaudio.com/products/mc80 Any opinions on the subject? For example, in the living room I was thinking of installing two 6.5" speakers (more diffuse sound), but maybe a single 8" speaker would sound better. Thoughts? ...René
I want to buy a Sonos Play 5 for our home to start a multi room audio network which I also want to use for music at my forthcoming wedding in Poland. However, there is no wifi availability at the wedding venue. Will I be able to take the Sonos Play 5 to use with an Itunes wedding playlist and will I need any other equipment to get this to work? Or will I have to get another system with bluetooth connectivity?
What is best way to add (4 rooms) wireless polk audio speakers (or similar) to existing system? We have several P5 with bridge and love the ability to control separate volumes/music from the app. Its ok if we have just one music selection for these 4 (spa rooms), but I would like to control sound in each. Thanks!
I am considering a Sonos soundbar and have some concerns/questions: Does Optical cabling provide Dolby Digital 5.1? I have an LG OLED B6 55 Inch. Will I have problems with audio drop out when watching TV? I've read about this issue in a variety of threads. Will I hear static/popping sounds when changing channels? With my Denon HEOS this is a very annoying issue that Denon claims is normal behavior? Can I power on/off the Sonos bar using my TIVO remote? Thanks.
New to Sonos but wife wants to buy me a setup after experiencing a friends. What is a good setup to stream from an iPhone to outdoor garden speakers in a summerhouse for BBQ and the music in the main house in the kitchen? Is it a case of buying wired waterproof speakers for the summer house connected to a connect amp with a pair of play 1's in the kitchen.
Ok so I have a 7.1 receiver, 4k TV, left, right and center channel currently. My sub died and I may buy another wired one, but have considered buying a Sonos sub. I was also considering buying sonos for rear speakers. How would I connect that to my existing system? Second, Sonos speakers require a 110 power source correct?
Hi there. My parents' sound system has just died, and they were never fans - it was an iPod dock, and they found the screen on the iPod too small, and nothing worked how they expected. They listen to MP3s ripped from their CD collection, and the radio. I need a simple set up for them. I am thinking of getting them a SONOS 1, an Amazon Fire 7 Tablet and a USB stick. I *think* I can put all their MP3s on the USB stick and plug it into their wifi router. Then I understand that they will be able to access those songs on the SONOS without any problems. They can then use the tablet as a remote control. Does this all sound correct, and are there any problems I'm missing?
I have some cash burning a hole in my pocket and i need help making the right decision!! I have a playbar in the lounge with tv and wonder whether to go for the subwoofer or 2 x play 1's. Really interested to hear peoples thoughts as my local independent arent always glowing in terms of support for Sonos.....thanks in advance.
