Voice control and smart home

We have several Amazon Echo Dots in the house, a pair of Sonos One in stereo and a Beam Mk 2, everything working fine until a couple of days ago. We have the beam in the lounge and the Alexa side is done through a Echo Dot, only reason we did this was the mike on the beam didn't pick up commands without shouting them loudly. Its worked faultlessly until the last couple of days when for some reason when you ask it to play a BBC Radio Station it goes through the motion but the station never starts. I even tried disconnecting the Echo dot and using the Beam mike, same thing happened. I reset the beam and the Dot and it didn't sort it. Its a random issue and has been hit and miss for the last few days. All the other echo dots work fine and so do the Sonos One paired speakers. I have tried to contact Amazon but they are not easy to contact. Its a real puzzle and i just have no idea what the issue is. Hello,I have 2 daughters which both hold a Sonos One in their room. They both want to use the Google Assistant to play their playlist on Spotify.Unfortunately, Google Assistant is using always the same account on both loudspeakers.Is there a way how I can pick and choose the Default Spotify Account?   

Over the past three weeks or so voice control of my Sonos Move has become erratic.   I have already worked with the tech support desk via chat to disable/enable Alexa and some of the music services.   Normally after a reboot everything works great.   At some time later, saying “Alexa stop.” doesn’t work.   A command to play a channel or music in Amazon is successfully repeated by Alexa, but the action doesn’t take place.  If I go to my Beam and tell Alexa to play X on the Sonos Move that seems to work.  The Play5s, Beam, and Sub work great in my office and don’t seem to have this issue.

Just a suggestion to offer the option of a push notification to system-linked smartphones/devices when a speaker starts playing via voice control (Alexa/Google). The notification would ask if the phone should open the app to allow control through the smartphone/device.I often start playing music on my Sonos One through Alexa and want to make volume/pairing adjustments through the Sonos app. If there was a notification on my phone ready to tap and make adjustments it would the whole process smoother and more integrated.Many thanks.

I used to manage my chromecast using my voice via Google Assistant, for instance “ok google, put Chromecast on pause” ou “switch Chromcast off”. But now, the answer si “unfortunately living room is not compatible”. In french : “malheureusement salon n’est pas compatible”.Is that a change on sonos products ? I have a Sonos BEAM (not the latest generation).Thanks  

I wish to have an easy to use NAS for playing music onto Sonos, I’ve read lots of articles and it’s confusing me. can anyone recommend a simple NAS that can be used without too much altering of protocols or security settings or other apps

When you ask for something that is streamed right back from assistant api and not from an app like Spotify you don't have control on Sonos va app but only the option to ask Google assistant to stop. Substantially when the playback of something like "hei google tell me the news" you'll notice the status of the player from the app or the exposed API as "nothing in play".Missing the option to stop it via any other external API but pressing the physical buttons or asking for "ok Google stop".For speech impaired and movement impaired people this is frustrating. Could you please add a status like "assistant engaged" and a stop button on API and APP?As the playing status is already there this shouldn't be too hard to implement.Thank you.

It does not work with Google home. I don’t understand why I need to login into Spotify when I didn’t with the Bose 900, I can’t even play the radio without having to sign up for yet another service. Cannot control the audio through the Google home app, pretty sure it is possible seems purposeful. Cannot connect my laptop to the arc without purchasing additional hardware.Don’t really care about your law suite with Google. A good product and a good community cannot be copied so good luck with law suite but I am not Google so why are you punishing me? 

I am not again scrolling through similar issues that were raised years ago - I would like a new topic opened please. I have an Echo Dot and a Sonos One.I have had same for 4+years.When I ask the Sonos “Alexa, play Absolute Radio” or “Alexa, ask BBC to play Radio 2” or similar commands, I get the expected response: E.g. “Absolute Radio from Planet Radio” or “BBC Sounds, and the jingle.Then SILENCE.This does not happen with the Echo Dot.I can start any radio station or music from the app on my iPhone.But when I ask Alexa to “Stop playing”, NOTHING HAPPENS.  I have to unplug the damn thing or use the App.Yes, I have checked the microphone (why, I don’t know because my voice was clearly heard!).Yes, I have reset the One and started from scratch.Yes, I have disabled and reenabled all the skills.This MUST be an issue with Alexa & Sonos (My Echo Dot works fine)PLEASE CAN SOMEONE COME UP WITH A SOLUTION. I am struggling to connect my Sonus Play 3 with Alexa.  Does anybody have any ideas ?  Both the Sonus and Alexa app are up to date (Software) I have enabled the Sonus Skill in Alexa and linked the account.  I have a dedicated Alexa device to use but I cannot find the Sonus via the Alexa app.Is it even possible on an older speaker like the Sonus Play 3, Ive been advised it is but cannot get it to connect. Ive also disabled and enabled the Sonus skill in the Alexa app with no joy.

Hi, I recently purchased the Nest Doorbell (battery) version, it automatically announces when the doorbell is pressed to every device in my house (this is the expected behaviour). I then started manually stopping services from receiveing this notification in the Google Home application by setting those devices to “Do Not Disturb”. However, my Sonos devices (of which I have three serate instances (Beam + 2 Sonos Ones”, Sonos One outdoor (under a patio), Sonos One outdoor (under another patio)) do not provide me an option to set a “Do Not Disturb” for announcements (or broadcast messages). I do not want my outdoor speakers to announce someone is ringing the doorbell.  I contacted Google help first and they said to contact Sonos. This thread is the same issue as outlined in this thread from ~1 year ago  

So I have read a lot.  I just recently got screwed with Insteon so I am looking at changing everything (yes expensive).  This will be getting leak sensors and also switching to Lutron Casseta and switch to home kit and get a HomePod miniWhere it gets a bit muddy i have all older sonos products including the play one with Alexa.  I could just keep my music separate with the use of Alexa, spotify and  make my home automation on HomeKit.  This is still not ideal as I would like to be able to use one interface if I can.  Can I use my sonos with Alexa and still use my old speakers and have it work with HomeKit and HomePod mini?I have read various things where you can do it through airplay, if I was to get one of the new Sonos speakers but this is yet another rather large purchase.Can I add all my old sonos speaker into HomeKit and then ask siri to play music for example or just go into spotify and chose my music and have it play on my old speakers while still being able to ask Siri to turn

Hello I am brand new to Sonos (longtime Bose guy) I am setting up my Sonos 5 and am struggling to get Alexa assigned to the speaker. I’ve gone through the prompts of enabling the skill and finding the speaker but then nothing happens from there. I go back to the Sonos App and nothing happens.  help!

Respected Sonos Team,I’m Big fan of urs.I want to use- The Fire StickTV 4k Max which is kept in the projector is in the HDMI Port for video output. And I would obviously do that by keeping the Beam 2 away from the projector. So will the Bean2 be able to connect via Alexa to the firestick on the projector when you put it away?please tell the use for Projector + The Fire StickTV 4k Max + Beam 2I can't use wire from beam 2 to projectorthanks, 😓 please help asap!!

Hey guysI’ve recently bought a Nest Doorbell (battery) but for some reason, I don’t get the Doorbell to send me a notification on any of my Sonos devices.  Things I already tried:Re-linking the Google Assistant with Sonos (service) Re-linking Sonos speaker with Google Assistant (those are two different things in the apps) Factory reset my Sonos Beam (2)The Doorbell does give me a notification on my Google Home Mini in the bedroom but that’s not how I want my setup to be. I also had a chat with Google Support and they told me to ask Sonos because on their end, everything is working as it should, since I get notifications on my Google Home Mini. Pretty frustrating. And I did find another article on here but after trying all those solutions, still no result, which is why I’m writing this. 

Hi all,First post on the forum and relatively new to the Sonos ecosystem.I’m currently in the process of converting an outbuilding into a games room. I’m deeply entrenched in the Amazon Echo / Alexa ecosystem, and have the devices throughout the house.I’m planning on mounting a Sonos One SL in each of the four corners of the outbuilding, and using an Amazon Echo device to play audio through them - mainly Spotify.Am I correct in believing that I’ll be able to stream music to all four Sonos One SLs simultaneously via an Amazon Echo device? 

I can’t seem to figure out how to play Spotify on all my home Alexa devices (Echo Dot, and Echo Show) as well as my Sonos Beam and 2 Sonos One’s.  Can anyone help?

There have been previous threads addressing voice calls on Sonos; however, it has been two years since any threads regarding voice calls have been open. I think with the addition of the generation 2 Sonos One device that inherently supports Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa it is time for the development team to take a look at enabling voice calling on the Sonos devices that support Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. I think the community and consumers would react very positively to the addition of that feature, but would also appreciate justification if it is not possible for that feature to be developed at this time.

Why can't I play music on Sonos groups with my voice with the Google Assistant? It is ridiculous to pay so much money on Sonos devices, if I can't even play music on a music group with the Google assistant!Sonos is a multi room system, but one of the key features ist not Support by the Google assistant.  And don't blame Google on this, you could easily sync the groups as separate devices into the Google home app.

So having stopped UK listeners accessing radio stations from abroad, the ongoing legal wrangle for TuneIn now means it’s dropping access to internet radio stations. I don’t know the extent of the takedowns but at least 2 stations I listen too regularly are now not available.While I know there are workarounds my biggest concern is that these don’t work via Google Assistant because TuneIn is the default service. So with the loss of non-UK radio stations, plus the new takedowns of internet streams and the on-going absence of BBC radio services, TuneIn is becoming unfit for purpose in the UK on Sonos with Google as the voice assistant.Is there a solution in the pipeline that would allow UK listeners to access other radio stream providers with Google, or to allow people to set a default other than TuneIn? The current situation means that there’s an increasing number of services that are just unavailable via voice control.  

I was wondering if you could help me with how to Alexa to work properly with a stereo pair of Ones, as it relates to timer commands.I have got a number of Sonos devices in my home. In my kitchen I have a pair of Ones, configured as a Stereo Pair. One of the devices is called ‘Kitchen’ and the other is called ‘Kitchen 2’ The two devices are configured together into a stereo pair that is also called Kitchen.If the devices are NOT configured as a pair then I can use Alexa to set a timer on each of them correctly. I simply say, “Alexa, set a timer for 2 minutes on Kitchen,” and it works. Same with Kitchen 2.However, when I pair the two devices into a pair called Kitchen and issue the same command, I get back an error message from Alexa that says that ‘Kitchen’ is offline. I realize that Alexa is looking for the individual device ‘Kitchen’ and not the group ‘Kitchen’ and that’s probably why things are failing.Interestingly, if I say ‘Alexa, play music in Kitchen,” the command works fine for

With only iPhone, I cannot swap logins on my iPhone’s Sonos App. I had to use another device - iPad to login for the 2nd home’s system. What happens when I buy a 3rd home? HELP!Ideally, I’d like to use the 2nd login on my 1 iPhone without having to delete the app and reinstalling it first. My workaround now is to use my iPad.

I own two Sonos beams . Both connected to Samsung 7000 series Tv.  Both use Firesticks. Neither will work with Hdmi  and the Beam.  I have tried  earc on and off, different HDMI ports, CEC on and off,  different cables,  called support. No one knows why audio will not  work on the beam while using firestick. One firestick is the HD 4K and one is the new Max.  Sound works fine while directly connected Ted from internet to Tv and back to the beam , it’s only while playing through fire stick. HELP !  thanks ☺️
