Voice control and smart home

We bought echo dots for our kids and they interrupt the music streaming on our Sonos every time they ask Alexa a question (which is a lot...). Is there a way to stop this in the settings for Sonos or Alexa?

Has anyone noticed that if you group two rooms together via the Sonos app ( say Kitchen & Den) and then ask Alexa to change a radio station or turn off e.g Alexa turn off the Kitchen then both the Kitchen and Den will follow the instruction but the grouping will be lost. Any pointers to correcting this would be gratefully recieved. Thanks Peter

For some reason, my Alexa app listed three Sonos speakers when I only have two, so I decided to clean it up. Since I couldn't match the Serial No on the Alexa app to my Sonos Speakers, I didn't know which one to delete, therefore I decided to delete all three Sonos speakers and go through the set up again. Unfortunately, its not working now. After re-adding all my devices on the Alexa app, Alexa on my Sonos One was saying "Having trouble understanding you right now, try again later". So I found a discussion thread on this site telling me to disable, then re-enable, voice services. Unfortunately I cannot re-enable it now. Problem: In Sonos App, I am trying to set up Alexa and connect my Amazon account. When I click on the option "Connect your Amazon account", the Amazon app will open to the homepage, then a black screen appears with the Sonos logo and then I'm back to the

I think I know the answer here, due to lots to trying... but let's say you're playing music on a Sonos in the kitchen, and you are moving to the living room. Can you somehow tell Alexa to play the same stream on the Living Room Sonos, in sync with the kitchen? Basically, just adding the Living Room Sonos speaker to the currently playing Sonos stream? Of course, on the phone, you'd just open the Sonos app and put a check next to the living room speaker, but I'd love to be able to do this via Alexa. Thanks!

If I ask an Echo Spot to "Play Rock Music on Kitchen", it will play a Rock Music station from Amazon Music on my 'Kitchen' SONOS speaker. But will the screen of the Spot show what's playing? i.e. will I see album artwork etc. for the song that is currently playing on the SONOS? If so, will it also show lyrics for songs where lyrics are available?

Can you play Apple Music on Sonos One? I have the Alexa app on my iPhone, linked my Apple Music account to Alexa, however she does not respond. I can use my Mac desktop app to play Apple Music okay, but not with Alexa directly on the Sonos One. Any thoughts before I call tech support?? Thanks for any help, Happy New Year, Leonard

I’ve been trying to figure out ifnit is possible to tell an echo show to transfer the music that’s playing to a Sonos Beam. I can’t find the answer and I’m assuming it can’t be done. It would be great to tell our echo show to continue the music (transfer or switch it) to our Sonos Beam (or any other Sonos device). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, i had an existing Sonos One and a Sonos Beam installed in different rooms. Alexa has performed perfectly on these two devices since installation. I recently installed a second beam in a different room. Installation was as expected and appeared to be without issue. I requested "alexa" on the new second beam to play "Magic UK form tune in". The response was "Sorry something went wrong". This response has now become replicated across the two existing devices. Alexa will play some radio stations from tune in but not others. I have been liaising with Sonos support for some time attempting to rectify the issue. Despite submitting numerous diagnostic data, repeated resetting of the system, factory resets, linking and unlinking accounts, reconfiguring the aleaxa account, disabling and enabling Sonso skills etc, the situation remains unresolved. Alexa unable to play any radio stations from Tune in apart from the BBC. A request to play BBC radio 2 for example, Alexa responds with "Playing BBC 2 from tune in". All other radio station requests from tune in always generate the same response, "Sorry something went wrong". This issue is replicated across three separate devices, sonos one and two beams. All tune in stations available manually using the Sonos app. Thanks.

Please I would like some help, I just bought a sonos beam and I connected to my LG OLEDC8 2018 tv and I set up every thing on Sonos app, LG webos and alexa. but still my tv is no responding to alexa, But I dont have any of the amazon echo, i am wondering if that is a necessary or i can control every thing the Sonos Beam

How do you get these three thing to work together ? When I try to link Apple Music and Alexa together I only see Spotify and Pandora. Doesn't the Play One support both services ?

I am one of the many I am sure, to have purchased an Amazon Alexa after Sonos recent update. I also signed up to Apple Music once integrated with Sonos awhile back, but I am unable to link Apple Music and Amazon Alexa directly which in my view severly limits the point of Amazon Alexa and Sonos working together. I cannot say “Alexa play Parklife by Blur in the lounge” because Alexa does not recognise the Apple Music Library? Is there a work around, or is this on the Sonos/Alexa roadmap? If not, the welcomed integration between Amazon Alexa and Sonos may be not so welcome after all....

Have had a sonos one for about a month (and 2 more due to give the kids TODAY). However it’s saying having trouble understanding right now? I’ve tried disabling then enabling the sonos skill. Help!

Hi I love the Beam and it works really well. One thing I tried on it was an Alexa Routine that I have which turns all my lights off at night when I say "night". To start with when I tried it on the Beam it didn't work at all and I just got a message back that it's not supported. Then all of a sudden it started working but I still get the message back from the Beam saying that it's not supported. i wondered if this is a bug that needs looking at.

I have an LG TV with a Sonos Beam connected to the HDMI-ARC cable, all CEC commands property enabled. Alexa is Able to turn the TV on and off, adjust/mute volume through the Beam, which I understand are the result of the CEC controls. Here is the problem I’m having - and I’ve seen this discussed in a few other threads - when I have the TV on, and I use an Alexa command to play music, I’m unable to use Alexa commands to switch back to TV audio. In other threads, Sonos support have recommended the Alexa command “switch to TV” to go back to TV audio but Alexa says that’s not supported by my TV. My TV has all of the CEC commands that Sonos recommends in order to get the best experience. Any ideas on how to switch without having to resort to the Sonos app?

Hi Everyone, I recently purchased the Beam play bar, which I connected to Sonos through my LG TV (model 47LW5600) but can't get Alexa voice commands to be recognized. I used the HDMI cable provided with Beam and connected Beam to the TV HDMI #1 Arc output. I set up the Beam via Sonos and can stream music to the Beam and can also receive TV audio but Alexa voice activated system commands are ineffective. My LG TV. Simplink and ARC mode are both set to On. I"m a new user to Alexa so perhaps there is a more direct troubleshooting method to test if basic voice commands are recognized to ensure the microphone is receiving a signal from Beam. I'd greatly appreciate any thoughts on what would help resolve issue. Thanks! Vince

I have just received two Sonos One speakers. I set them up in the Sonos iOS app and then in the Amazon Alexa app. All seemed to work well. I created a group in Alexa in order to play the same music on both speakers. When I request Alexa to play music on group "Sonos" (the name of the group I set up), only one speaker plays. If I use the Sonos app to group the two speakers, the music plays on both as expected. I would think I could tell Alexa to "Play music" on any single speaker and it would play on that speaker. If I tell Alexa to "Play music on Sonos" it would play on both the speakers within that group. Is this a known issue?

Just installed the latest update, maybe a few months work, and Alexa has stopped working. The mic light is white but she doesn’t respond or pause playing when you make a request. Tried removing the Sonos skill from the Alexa app & re-adding with no success. Please help?

Hi, I've just setup an Alexa-group with my different Sonos speakers, Kitchen, Livingroom and Dining room. I've named the Alexa group "All speakers", and set all the Sonos Speakers as preferred speakers. This works fine as I can play the Spotify music on all the speakers by saying: "Alexa, play music on all speakers". But I still cannot change the volume on all the speakers at the same time. When saying "Alexa, raise the volume on all speakers", it only raises the volume on one of them. I can raise the volume by telling Alexa to do that room by room. But that is not fast enough. I always need to pick up my phone and open the Sonos App in order to change the volume on all speakers at the same time, which kind of takes the edge off using Alexa as the controlling device for my Sonos Speakers. I know that it has been a problem to change the volume on multiple sonos speakers previously through Alexa, but I'm wondering if that is possible now with the new Alexa grouping? In that case

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but I am new to the idea of on-line communities so am a 'learner driver' and couldn't find an answer to my problem by searching... I have an Amazon Echo Dot and a Sonos Play 1 speaker. My Echo Dot is linked with the Sonos speaker with the Sonos skill on Alexa. I have opened a subscription to Amazon Unlimited Music on my Echo Dot only - single device subscription. I can stream Amazon Unlimited Music (Playlists, tracks, albums etc) to my Echo Dot, playing through its own speaker / through a Bluetooth connected speaker / through a cable connected speaker. I can stream my Amazon on-line 'My Music Library' (ie music which I have purchased from Amazon) to all of these AND to my Sonos speaker. I can't stream any Amazon Unlimited Music to my Sonos speaker, even though I have a subscription service. I cannot understand why I can play this music service on any speaker other than the Sonos..! I have raised this with Amazon customer service

I am using the google mesh WiFi with a Sonos boost. Alexa is enabled. When I ask Alexa to discover devices she does not find any.

I have one of my Sonos One speakers not working properly with Alexa commands. It responds ok when I say “Alexa” but does not respond to all commands. It used to work fine, but now it doesn’t. Example - I will ask Alexa to play top hits on pandora and it will fine, but when I say “Alexa STOP or PAUSE” Alexa beeps continues to play. I can only stop or pause if I go into the sonos apps on my IOS device. I have tried to disable and delete devise and reset and reinstall, but same thing happens. Any advice? I have other Sonos One speakers that are working fine, just having issue with this one.
