Have a chat with other Sonos owners. What's going on in the world of music and technology? What's playing?

I have 1 Play 5, 2 Ones, 1 Beam and using Controller 16.3 on OS S2. I also have a large house and need to upgrade to a mesh WIFI system for the house. A friend has recommended either Eero 6 Plus or Google Nest Wifi Pro.I notice there seem to be all sorts of problems in connecting SONOS to mesh systems. Before I purchase, can anyone please give me real world experience with these.Looking for advice on the above ...or other option. (Australia)
This last update is terrible. The app on Android is very slow, takes ages to connect. The previous version was much faster. I understand why some may think it’s a good thing to disable the support for SMB1. But in a home environment, security isn’t an issue! Why not having a flag which enables/disables SMB1 with a security warning for the user? do decide? I have a perfectly working NAS environment which supports SMB1 only, and I have many applications interacting with it. So for me, changing to another NAS would be a huge undertaking. Is there a workaround to activate SMB1 again?
It seems hard to believe, but that seems to be the unanimous “rumor” here. I am hoping it’s just because the implementation in the new app immature, and that maybe some time in the future this will work again. But, could Sonos comment? Is the support for playing from a music library going away?
Been sitting here for 45 minutes. My music feed dropped twice and there’s been 10 to 15 minute periods where I can’t seem to get anything to play. Sonos really needs to hire a software engineer, any engineer… a train engineer could make it work better than whoever’s in charge now! Oooor… call me crazy… just go back to the last version. It wasn’t perfect but I’ll take “not perfect” over this *!*Moderator Note: Modified in accordance with the Community Code of Conduct.*
I’ve had an incredibly frustrating couple of weeks with speakers suddenly dropping and not reconnecting after trying all troubleshooting and multiple customer service calls. Here’s what I figured out with my Telus internet provider: Admin settings were changed to turn off smartstream which has both 2.4 and 5G. Once two separate wifi networks were created for each band, my speakers connected and showed up using 2.4g only.. even though other things run without a problem on 5G in my home. Confirmed I have 4 Sonos ONE GEN 2 and ARC all of which should work on 5G. After I reconnected all my speakers for the first time without problems in weeks, I renamed the rooms and the system disappeared. This happened two times. I had to unplug all Sonos speakers, start a new system, factory reset and add each speaker one by one on the 2.4g only network. I didn’t rename them, and so far they’ve been connected since last night. Seems that there needs to be a fix for this.
I’ll think most of the time is hard to find up to date-information about the new app and what’s going on. Is it possible to have a completely different page on when you browse in to Sonos that will get you current known issues and bugs (and of course all important thing we users need to know ? I’ll think it will lift the burden off for both Sonos staff and stressed users. Hopefully it will also end a lot of speculations, rumors aso. Im sure that kind of a page would be greatly appreciated. Now when you step in to the community you get overwhelmed because of the large amount of both up-to date and closed issues. Finally, at my job we live by the motto “if you have nothing to report, report it”
I have owned my system for about 7 years and with only a few exceptions, it has worked and sounded great. The newest update has and continues to cause me issues. It is slow to react to simple actions such as pause, play, change rooms, load new playlists to be played, not working on concert with the computer app to name just a few. Bottom line… it does not work well and there is no excuse for Sonos to have released this update without thorough testing (which I would only assume they thought they did). I am not extremely technical and quite old school. I have not read through the myriad of comments that I can only assume are out there on this same topic but am hoping that Sonos can get their act together and make it as good as it was before. Also, relating to the email from the CEO, my system overall is great (except as outlined above) and I expect that is will last a very long time. Kind of like my Advent speakers and Macintosh amp which I bought around 1968 and, if maintained) wi
I had a support call almost three weeks ago, I have been dealing with the same problems for months, the community is no longer responsive to questions and issues, and now escalated support is completely flaking out. I had a call scheduled for this morning to follow up and hopefully finally resolve but no one called. There is a 30 minute estimated hold time on a call and I am number 12 in support chat. I am tired of spending hours and hours trying to fix issues with your app that have always plagued my Sonos experience. Your system sucks, and now your support sucks too!
I’ve owned Sonus product since they first came out and I updated to the new versions when the updates are offered. I’m familiar with most of the idiosyncrasies the systems and how to resolve various problems. With the new application I started experiencing speaker dropouts random issues with playback and general instability. =—->My Sonos configuration is as follows. Two Sonos play 1s, Two Sonos ERA 300s with a Sonos subwoofer, Two Sonos play 5s, Two Sonos ports one to a Yamaha sound bar and one to a Yamaha receiver, and One Sonos sound bar. —— I’ve been operating all of these with the previous version of the Sonos application without any problems. When I updated the new application today and I had the following problems.———> Random changes to the volume sliders without my touching them. Random selections of speakers or ports sets without my touching them. Random switching of selected speakers or ports; I would select the sound bar and it would go to the ERA 300s. I would set the
Hi,Does anyone know how long it takes for Sonos to provide a shipping label for a return on the money back guarantee?I received an email over a week ago with an RO number, and this said I’d receive an email separately with a shipping label. I’ve called Sonos a few times, and every time I get the same “We’ll speak to the returns department and get them to send it out and you should receive it shortly” message, but I never do.Does anyone know how long this normally takes, or who I can speak to get this sorted? Thanks
Sonos has totally screwed their customers. My whole system disappeared today. I have a professional AV guy I pay here trying to get everything back and even he can’t figure it out. He can see my whole system on a windows pc, but on the app all of my system is gone and won’t reconnect.Enough is enough! It’s time for this community of aggrieved customers to band together and sue Sonos for negligence and not delivering the experience we all paid for.Literally a day after the CEO sent that note all has gotten immensely worse. What kind of updates are they sending out? They are blowing up their product like I’ve never seen before!!!!!!
Mr. Spence, you've obviously heard the complaints so let’s work on fixing this. send out a 40% off discount like you have in the past, fix the volume slider, up the Rakuten cash back program, increase upgrade discounts from 15 to 30 across devices. offering sonos ace at a significant discount to loyal customers will roll out sonos branding into the public. Marketing needs to improve significantly. This is the easiest product to market, yet I never see it done with newer marketing ideas. Hire influencers, put out positive app content, explain why there was a change to begin with. fix the volume slider I’ll buy the headphones. I’ll give you some time. just get at it and fix this….fast. oh, and fix the volume slider
I have read much of the feedback about the new Sonos app. The most frustrating parts of the new app that I have experience involves loss of previous Sonos playlists that I had saved in the old version of the app. I had over 50 different playlist that were labeled and were easily accessible for parties and get together, etc. Those were all wiped away when I have read much of the feedback about the new Sonos app. The most frustrating parts of the new app that I have experience involves loss of previous Sonos playlists that I had saved in the old version of the app. I had over 50 different playlist that were labeled and were easily accessible for parties and get together, etc. Those were all wiped away when the new app came in and only two partial playlist could be brought up. overall, the app is very difficult to use. It is not user-friendly. Finding the speakers you wish to control and add is glitchy and difficult. I really wish they would have simply gone back to the old app. I know th
This may be a daft question but after sharing my music fold, via computer/ external hard drive, with the sonos app do I still need to keep the hard drive connected to the computer and switched on when I want to play music from my folder. I know that I could just disconnect it to see what happens but it has taken me days and hours to figure out how to do and for it to work. My music includes all my vinyl that I transfered on to mini discs and more recently had digitalised which sounds great when played on my 2 sonos one's as stereo.
I cannot believe After spending over $2k on a Sonos system for my house, you have the temerity to launch an update which then screws up my system, and then send out a note stating how bad you feel. AND you’ll have it fixed by November. What kind of empathetic customer service is that. So here is what I am going to do. I am removing Sonos and moving to Audio Pro. You do not deserve my business.
Overall, the new Sonos app seems to be an improvement over the previous version. But I am disappointed that many useful features from the previous app weren’t included. So here is my wishlist for the new Sonos app: Bring back the shortcut to the EQ settings on the Now Playing screen. Bring back the “HD” and “Hi-Res” icons on the Now Playing screen when streaming lossless or hi-res lossless music from your local music library. Bring back the number indicator on the volume slider on the Now Playing screen. Under About My System, show what audio format is playing after “Audio In:” while playing TV audio. Bring back the alphabetical search/quick scroll feature for local music libraries. Include local music libraries in the Search feature. When viewing albums from a specific artist, allow the option to switch from list view to grid view. What other features would you like to see brought back or added?
After waiting ~20 minutes in the Online Chat Support waiting area, I got to talk to a support representative. After explaining my problem (https://en.community.sonos.com/speakers-229128/downgrade-sonos-beam-gen-1-to-s1-6900627) he explained thatI have no way to downgrade there’s no ETA for when the “Downgrade to S1” feature will be back you don’t need to be a Business genius to know what this means … So that’s it, for anybody who did not get to do the downgrade yet.For me, it’s definitely Bye-bye-SONOS.Next (atm not sure if next week or in the next ~6 months) I plan totrade my product on Ebay for whatever peanuts I can get off it move to a different NON-SONOS solution (not sure if soundbar or receiver+speakers) never ever again pay one more cent to SONOS. When I find myself in the position of advising any acquaintance about what sound solution to purchase… well… I plan to simply be 100% honest.😡🤬PS: I’m aware that when it comes to having a horrific user-experience, I’m on the light-si
The new way to explain a failure !just saying i have a SONOS system and things are more than wrong
Are there any SONOS plans that would facilitate DAB + reception be sent through SONOS equipment?
Tried to open an Amazon Music playlist only to be greeted with the Something Went Wrong error. Then the screen stopped pulsing and nothing happened. More quirkiness!
Sonos customer service is pathetic. Fourth time I’m trying to reach them. They always claim between 30 and 55 minute wait time. When It’s that long, they don’t have a call back queue option!!? Really? but it gets worse- each time they never come on the phone. Right now the queue was to be 30 minutes but I’ve been on hold for 57 minutes and counting. It doesn’t matter if you call them different days or times of day. It’s the same. So don’t hang up- again? There’s nothing one can do! they should be ashamed of themselves. I’m never buying another product from them again. And they have the nerve to try to sell me an arc from a recording as I wait for them to pick up on a tech issue. Uggh.
I just called customer service in the uk and was informed the wait would be 105 minutes. I guess a lot of “Sonos Members” are experiencing similar problems to us. Our system has stopped working, we get the annoying messages that our individual components cannot be found, the Sonos customer service is unreachable. I see that there are over 450,000 “members” registered. I wonder how many are regretting buying Sonos? It is clear to me that the “product” supplied is simply not fit for purpose. What on earth have you done now? My Windows Desktop Controller indicated an update and I carried this out and assume it’s made some firmware changes to my speakers and now I can no longer use S2 16.3 app as it just states this with no functionality: I have retained using the old app as IT ACTUALLY WORKED unlike your failed new 80 version.HOW DO I CONTINUE USING MY SYSTEM AS I WANT TO WITHOUT LOSING ALL FUNCTIONALITY???
I am truly horrified by the user interface change. WHY? Every SONOS user has mastered the old one. I have been a SONOS evangialist for 20 years to anyone who would listen to me but cannot recommend it any more. I just setup my daughter with some of my old SONOS gear and fortunately she could use the S1 software. I can’t downgrade to S1 as I have a BEAM gen2 in the mix. Please please please let us use the old IOS S2 software that we know and love and works well. Change for change sake is never a good idea. This new software is BAD.
Dear PatrickI'm moving to Yamaha because upon updating the apps on my pc and android my connect app doesn't work anymore. I couldn't afford your speakers so it's easy for me to change to Yamaha MusicCast. This problem is not mentioned in your email why?You conveniently made the Connect Amp obsolete without telling anyone, shame on you.Your products are too expensive so I can not afford to replace the amp.Yamaha has better technology with better connectivity as well as equal sound quality and most importantly it's around 2/3rds the price of Sonos even including the discount offered.Sonos will be going the way of Blackberry. Have a nice retirement.
