Did you know there is an email to the CEO’s office at Sonos? Who knows if the CEO actually reads these, but here is the address and the email I sent today: ceo@sonos.com.
Hello,
After 15+ years of Sonos devices in my home, as of today they have all been removed and replaced with competitor's solutions.
Why?
While the hardware is fantastic, and remains so, the decision to update the app in May was a complete disaster. Many people are concerned with missing features after that update, but I'm just talking basic functionality making the system unusable. These issues did not exist before the May update:
- When I open the app it normally takes 5 to 30 seconds for the app to connect to my system and sometimes does not connect at all
- Sometimes the app only partially connects to my system (I can see streaming services, but can’t press any function buttons like play)
- When the app does finally connect, it is slow/sluggish
- Volume changes are slow or don’t respond
- Turning on and off different speakers in my system are slow or do not respond
- Selecting play or pause for various music are slow or do not respond
- Changing to different tracks or albums is slow or does not respond
- Searching is slow or does not respond
- Past searches or histories do not load quickly, or at all
Have you seen the consistent posts about the terrible experiences with the app in the Sonos Community threads on your own website? Have you visited the Google Play store and seen the horrible app reviews and ratings there?
So, after assuming you would fix the app for months, making it useable again, I'm ditching. Other companies improve over time and are quick to back rev to a previous version if a mistake like this is made.
Wish it was different,
Bryan
