Talk Sonos Products

Hello, I will start by saying I do not have Sonos right now.  I am in the process of building a new house and am thinking of installing a Sonos system.  I have, for some reason, had the hardest time wrapping my head around the system.  I think my main issue is with wired speakers and how it works within the Sonos world.  My wife wants speakers hidden in the walls/ceiling as well as outside.  I now realize that I need the AMP to have wired speakers.  My question is, do I need anything else?  I mean if I want to stream music from Pandora and I want it to play on a Sonos speaker as well as the wired outdoor speakers do the AMPS connect to the other Sonos speakers in the house?  Someone told me I still need a receiver?  Also, if I have the new ARC connected direct to my TV via earc HDMI will the arc connect with outdoor speakers connected to the AMP.   

In Big Sur, the’ve eliminated “Power Saver” settings, replacing them with “Battery”.  “Battery” doesn’t have the option to keep hard disks awake.  Even with my Mac set to not sleep, it still sleeps, and can’t play music I have stored on my Mac.  Anyone else experiencing this, or have a solution?

I do most of my listening (to classical,  mostly) in my very cozy den (about 9 feet x 9 feet, with a low, painted wood beam ceiling (about 6 1/2 ft.), with spaced beams coming down 4 inches from  the ceiling--TMI, I suppose, but I suspect these help the acoustics quite a bit).  Anyway, I have a Sonos One and love it. It is certainly loud enough for the room. But I've always wanted a really nice stereo and have never quite been able to afford one... So,  my question is, if I want to upgrade, should I be reasonable and just get a second One, or would a Five blow me away? (I have an eager prospective recipient if I decide to pass along my current One--in fact, that would essentially reduce the added cost of the Five because the One would be such a nice present.) Would the sound quality and bass be worth it even if I don't need the volume? Or would the stereo separation of two Ones be the way to go?

Hello community,I purchased a new Sonos Arc and removed a lot of my gear to create a more simple surround sound system.  I was forced to update from Sonos S1 to the S2 system.  It was necessary for me to remove several Sonos products from S1 to do the upgrade.  I removed 3 Sonos connect, a Sonos Bridge and a Sonos Connect:amp.  I am able to re utilize those products by running a split system but this leaves me with no way to drive my in-wall surround speakers.  I was counting on using the connect:amp to do this.  I am also unable to run my Velodyne Sub which I am willing to leave out of the system for now.  It appears to me, this is not possible.  I find myself in a frustrating position without having surround sound and feel quite abandoned by Sonos.  I know some of my components are old but that is why I have tried to invest in high quality product.  I never looked at it as a “rental agreement” with Sonos.  As a worst case, it looked like I might be able to receive a 30% credit toward

Hi, Dolby Atmos is now not showing in the S2 app anymore. I’m using Netflix from my Sony KD-65XH9005, it was working before and had the name in the tv bit but recently it’s just saying 5.1its also stopped saying it when I’m watching football in UHD on sky sports, it did say it in the app the as well.  

I just signed up for the Sonos Radio HD service. When I go to browse the Sonos Radio music service there has been no change and I can't see any of the HD radio stations. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My whole system has been upgraded to S2 and my Sonos account is based in the UK.  Thanks. 

I just can’t find the answer to this anywhere: Does the Sonos One (Gen 1) support Airplay 2?

When I use Android Sonos Controller to play music using 'On this Mobile Device' album tracks appear in the wrong order (see below). The album starts with track 1 then moves to track 10, 11,12 etc. until the end of the album before returning to tack 2? My large music collection was transferred to my phone from my iTunes folder using the iSyncr app. None of these errors exist in either iTunes or Poweramp app (populated from the iSyncr folder on my phone) Other anomalies appear with double albums and splitting errors are common, again, these errors do not appear anywhere else (see below) Can anyone explain - in the simplest way possible - why this is happening?  

The brand new Sonos Port has inferior connectivity compared to the old Connect.It’s beyond me why you have removed the Toslink / Optical out from an integration product?What I’ve heard, though, is that it’s because this product is normally used by “integrators” - i.e. pro installers - and they can customize coax cables on site.To that I can only say:Pro installers aside, this is just no reason to not supply the Toslink side-by-side the coax as was the case in the Connect product in case a home user is installing the product - or an installer for that matter - finding the Toslink a better choice for some odd reason. Is it possible to connect SONOS to more than one Spotify account?I use Spotify for streaming music and have my Spotify account connected to my SONOS system. But when my wife logs in to SONOS from her phone or laptop, it connects to MY Spotify account.Is it possible for SONOS to connect to HER Spotify account on her phone/laptop so she can have access to her own playlists instead of having to play off mine?

Feature Request: Display the list of playlists in music services’ Libraries alphabetically.There currently is no way to change the display order of music playlists (for Spotify and Youtube Music, at least). That’s pretty terrible - the SMAPI spec does not require any particular ordering from the service, nor does it allow the app to specify an order, so it’s basically luck of the draw. I expect some services to return data alphabetically, others by most recently or frequently played, yet others completely unsorted (“hash order”, as it were).For search results, I expect Sonos to respect the returned order, assuming that the service will be attempting to return the best match first. For a generic getMetadata response, the expectation is clearly invalid, and, consistency between services aside, it’s a terrible browsing experience.The SMAPI spec doesn’t support additional data such as recency or play count, so sorting by those in the app isn’t an option. Dear SONOS,I have a ton of spurious repeated playlists labelled as “Internal error - Invalid Atom” which I need to delete from the third panel window section, under the Imported Playlists panel.Also, my “TOP RATED” iTunes playlist doesn’t sync to the SONOS One Desktop nor my iPhone Music Library Listing ???  There appears to be major problems with syncing an accurate copy of my iTunes Playlist(s) to SONOS.This is crazy,….. this has been a systemic problem for years now which hasn’t been seriously addressed by SONOS, to my knowledge. Why is this so difficult SONOS ?    Here’s your chance to fix this issue.My faith in SONOS is being challenged right now after investing $1,000’s in my SONOS system.I am also having major WiFI Stability issues with speakers dropping in & out regularly. Best regards,Chris.

I bought 2 Sonos AMPS & set up a network when we moved to this house w/2 sets of built-in speakers, and that part works well.Our legacy system is a Denon CD player and Rega RP3 turntable that had been connected to a now-discarded amp, which had been wired to KEF Ls50 wireless speakers. So, I bought a Sonos PORT and connected it to the CD player and added it to the network. So far, so good.I then bought a Music Hall Mini preamp (supporting MM cartridges) and inserted it between the turntable and a used Sonos CONNECT (Gen 2) I just bought as well. I successfully reset and added the CONNECT to our network, but no sound emanates from the turntable, nor does it when I plug it into the PORT.Which leads me to believe I have a preamp/turntable issue (preamp was $99 from Crutchfields), but perhaps I am missing something w/regard to the network. Any suggestions welcome.

Hello, is there an adapter I can purchase/use to connect my Five speaker to the HDMI-ARC port of my TV?  I have a Bridge, and I think if I can hook one of the Fives to the TV, I can then group the other three speakers to get front and surround sound?If the surround is not possible, I would happily accept using the two Fives in front.  I’m trying to avoid adding yet another bit of AV equipment e.g. the Beam.  Sound fidelity is unimportant due to hearing deficit, I need dialogue clarity. TIA

Hello,I am coming to you for advice on a stand for Sonos One SL speakers.I visited different brands and my attention turned in particular to Sanus & Flexson. I'd love to hear your opinion on this to see which one you think is the best, given the relatively similar price tag.However, I see that there is no stand that allows the speaker to tilt towards our ears, which is rather a shame I think. They are only visibly adjustable in height. In addition, I have a small space between the sofa and the wall and unfortunately I cannot move the sofa. Indeed, I have only 10 inches between the sofa and the wall. This is why I must also take this into account in my choice. The ideal would be to find a stand that places the speaker as close to the wall as possible without the support leg making me lose too much space between the wall and the speaker.Thank you for your advices !

I bought a Sonos Amp, really should’ve bought a Port for what my intended setup.  I am not even sure what I can use the Amp for since there is no audio out.  Probably going to just have to sell it.  Right now I have a connect for my in celling speakers, I guess I could use the amp for a couple of those.

How do I listen to Radio-Canada's Ici Musique?TuneIn won't work and it's not listed in Sonos' radio choices.It’s a Canadian public broadcaster  French-language station, which plays great stuff. It’s sister network (English-Language) CBC Radio & Music is offered but not Ici Musique or Radio-Canada!I’d love to see it listed in the choices

I currently have playbar, 2x one SL, sub.  I have a TT with no built in amp.  If I want to connect my TT to the system what would be the best way.

I hear a lot of people around who are interested in a sonos sub, but don't buy it because it is glossy black.This is the same for me. I already own sonos one's en arc and would like to add a sub.Is there a possibility to order a black matte sub and import it as an alternative?I think the demand for a matte black sub is huge!

Hi,I run my cable box and Apple TV through a Sony 5.1 receiver to a Samsung TV. The output from the receiver is “tv out/arc” but is NOT going to the ARC HDMI, the Sonos Arc beam is going to that HDMI port. Unless I connect the component (cable box, Apple TV) directly to the TV, skipping the receiver, I can’t get the sound to the Sonos, it appears the sound will only go to the wired speakers on the receiver. Any suggestions to get the receiver “in the loop” so to speak? I’d rather not buy an HDMI switch for the components, or try to run the cables back through the wall to the tv individually.

Hi-I own a receiver and a Connect (which powers two non-sonos in-ceiling speakers).I would like to allow the speakers to be able to play sound from both the receiver AND from wirelessly (via Connect)...depending on what source is providing the sound.Is there a way to wire for this? TIA

Are the Sonos in ceiling speakers airtight?I’m  doing a new build and any intrusions in the ceiling including speakers need to be airtight. I have sourced sealed LED down lights no problem but are the Sonos ceiling speakers sealed?This is to prevent heated air escaping into the roof void. Thanks

Is there no landscape mode for sonos S1 iPhone app?

Hi,when I use my Sonos One alarm I receive a notification on the screen of my iPhone XS (iOS 13.6.1). I then use 3D touch to be given the option to snooze. When I select snooze I get an alert to say “No alarm is playing” and can’t then snooze the alarm without opening Sonos App stopping the music and setting another alarm. It’s the same whether using music, radio or the Sonos chime options for the source.Does anyone know how to fix this?Thanks.
