Hi,My son’s bedroom has ceiling speakers which are wired back to an amplifier in the living room. We currently have a Sonos Connect connected to the amplifier which he uses to stream music to listen via his ceiling speakers. He is now keen to get a turntable, and I’m thinking the best thing to do would be to get a 2nd Sonos Connect, wire that up to the turntable in his bedroom and group it with the Connect in the living room so that the audio comes out of the speakers in his ceiling.Would that work? Would it matter that the Connect in his bedroom would have an input (the turntable) but no output? I guess the other option would be to get him a 2nd hand Play 5, but it seems a shame not to make use of his ceiling speakers. Thanks

Hello, I am creating a media wall with recessed TV, Playbar and a fire at the bottom. My question is will the Playbar sound be affected by being placed in a recessed shelf?  Has anyone done this?  Thanks    

Several months back there was an announcement that Arc would be able to play Atmos Music streamed from Amazon and maybe Apple? In 2021.Latest 13.3.3 firmware update still doesn't provide this capability as far as I can tell. Anyone seen or heard anything new on this subject?

Just upgraded my gen 1 Sonos 5 to an Arc. Have a Sonos amp in the same room but behind the sofa driving speakers facing the TV. The amp and TV are on the same LAN network but are too far apart to connect by HDMI cable, Is there a way to connect the TV or Arc to the amp for surround sound?TIA  

My question is, can I use my gen1 speakers (play3) & gen1 sub with the Arc to play Dolby Atmos?  I just purchased a new TV and I’m going through a tech overhaul. I’m cautious to start upgrading all of my Sonos equipment because it works great and would be expensive to replace. However I am definitely interested to taking it to the next level by replacing the Playbar with the Arc. Before I do I just want to make sure that the other speakers will register as I hope. Kindly,Drew

I have a first gen Beam connected to my LG OLED via ARC. I also have generation 1 One in my dining room that doesn’t get used much. I only use the TV and internal apps, no other HT gear.  I’m thinking about using the One in a HT setup with the Beam. I’m not bothered about a sub at this point, the beam and One have adequate bass for now, but might do later.  Is this a good idea?What do I need and what should I buy? Another One Gen 1, gen 2 or SL?  Would an Ikea Sonos speaker work, or would it need to be paired with another speaker the same? Hi, I’m probably going to get murdered on the forum for this...(I did try to search, I really did), but I couldn’t find anything.So I have two Sonos Roams paired as a stereo set. I was wondering with the high end services like Tidal, Amazon Music HD and Apple Music (and I guess Sonos Radio HD), can the Roams push out the high end bit rates/sound quality? I may not be asking the question right..I hope it makes sense. Like I realize the Roams do not do Atmos (right)..so Spatial audio is out...but can they play lossless at that bit rate or is it downsized/compressed?I am a Sonos fan, and I replaced two Echo Studios to go with the Roams because I like the portability and the size of them. I realize I would be giving up Atmos or whatever Amazon calls it..but I was just curious.I recall seeing something way back that the Ones could not do more than “HD” level on Amazon and not the Ultra HD or 3D or whatever they called it..but I didn’t know if the Roams can do HD level ...or if any music ser

Hello 👋🏻My NAS from 2011 (ReadyNAS NV+) died recently. I will be buying a new NAS but have not chosen a brand yet. My entire Sonos system (Play 5s, Connect, Bridge, and Beam) is S1 controlled. Would a new, more modern NAS work with S1? I don’t plan on buying new speakers yet (though tempted, but one project at a time). Anything particular I should consider when choosing a new NAS? Afternoon all.  I recently purchased a Sonos Beam Gen 2 and I also have a One SL.  I have a Sony KD-49XG90 TV.I’m bamboozled by the variety of Audio in results I have showing on my S2 App.My Beam is connected to my TV via ARC (HDMI 3), my Apple TV (4K 2021) is connected to HDMI 2 and Sky Q is connected to HDMI4.I get Dolby Atmos for Premiership football matches I watch in UHD via SkyI get Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 for movies in UHD via SkyI get Dolby Digital 5.1 via Apple TVI get a mixture of Dolby Digital 5.1 and PCM 2.0 for normal channels on SkyCan anyone explain the disparity between the results I’m getting please, is layman terms if possible.I would at least like to get Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 on Apple TV and I don’t understand for the life of me why I only get Atmos for the football on Sky UHD but for no other programme, not even UHD movies on Sky!Many thanks in advance

Picked up an Amp for home theater use and have been really impressed with the phantom center. Really liking the full sound of large speakers and a powered sub better than the Arc in my living room. I know that current A/V receivers with Atmos support also offer Atmos Height Virtualization, which seems like it would be a perfect fit for the Amp home theater use case. Any idea if that feature would be possible with gen 3 hardware and/or has been discussed as on the table for a future update?

Hi folks Ling time Sonos user. First post ever. Appreciate any input/feedback/opinions. Thinking best response wins a $20 Amazon gift card. Lol Trying to get other opinions on possibly setup ideas and placing what speakers where. WiFi connectivity is not a problem in any room. Below is what I have currently: The main tv (living room area) is about the only thing set with arc, sub, and 2 new symphonics just bought today for surround to free up Ones elsewhere. After that trying to figure what to place where in regards to larger attached area (dining room) off the main tv/arc and the 2 bedrooms (master and guest ) along with back porch/sunroom where I’ve been using the Move. Here are some pics and room sizes Room where arc, sub gen 3 , and symphonics are is pretty set (living room). I know this has been posted before, but I don’t think an adequate solution has been offered. Like others, I don’t want anyone who is on my WiFi network to be granted access to my Sonos system by default simply by having the Sonos app. I realize guest networks are a thing, but this is not a solution for multiple systems on the same network.  I would like my Sonos system to be accessible only by me, and if possible, users/accounts to whom I’ve given access. This would also be less of an issue if the Sonos app didn’t randomly forget which system on the network it is connected to, and try to connect to the wrong one. This has happened on a number of occasions.  So this post is a combination feature request and bug report I suppose, but I’d take the feature request in a heartbeat.  Thanks for reading. 

Hello, I have a Playbase connected to my TV and a single Play:5 (Gen 2) connected to a turntable in the same room. Is it possible to buy a second Play:5 and use them as rear speakers in a surround sound setup with the Playbase? Thanks in advance!

My music was all on an external NAS drive which failed.  Data recovery company restored the NAS content and I re-downloaded to new NAS and redirected my Sonos from MacBookPro and controller on iPad and iPhone.  However now, if my Mac is ‘asleep’ neither controller will work.  I get error message 1002 which seems irrelevant as I don’t have the device the error message refers to. Another error message is “Unable to play ‘track x’ - unable to connect to //Lois-[sirname]-MacBook-Pro/Music.  I deleted the Controller app and reinstalled it.  It played one album and when attempting to play a second album - the following long error message popped up:  Unable to play ‘Album X’ - the file //Lois-[sirname}MacBook-Pro/Music/Music/Media.localised/Music/Jamiroquai/Jamiroquai - Travelling Without Moving/13 [Hidden Track].m4a cannot be foundWords fail me.  Help!

Hi All, Im looking for some help to understand the best way of fixing lip sync issue between these two devices LG GX OLED 55’ and Sonos Arc. What i'm seeing is the sound is outta sync with the TV on a number of different devices and outputs. For context I have the Tv wall mounted with all external HDMI ports connected with Maxonar HDMI 2.1certified cables, these cables are capable are using earc, they are  linked to a virgin media HD 360 box, a PS4, and I am using the Earc port to connect the sonos to the tv. I am experiencing sync issue using the above devices as well as native tv apps, Netflix, Disney, YT etc.  The Tv is hard wired to my home network and the sonos is on a wifi network, Could it be down to internet connect? The Sonos will not pick my 5G network for some reason. Questions does anyone know what settings in terms of sound will remove this issue?Are there certain sound formats which work better so PCM, Pass Through, Dolby Digital etc. The sonos support team said switch yo

Hello there everyone About two years ago a wonderful relative of mine bought me a Sonos One (the one with the voice assistant built-in). I’ve absolutely loved it, especially as being a student I’ve moved to a bunch of different places in the meantime. Its small size and wifi functionality makes it easy to move around. I also have an ear condition which makes using earphones and headphones for longer than an hour extremely painful, so having a great quality speaker I can play from my Mac/iPad/iPhone and really enjoy my music has been a joy.But I’m wondering what the logical next step is in this setup. I don’t have a high income of course as a student, so what would be the best Sonos product to get to take listening to music to the next level? Would it be simply another Sonos One to go for a ‘stereo’ setup? Or is it better to just try and save up and scrape together the money for maybe a Sonos Five? I keep on reading that according to Sonos very few users are still using their “Music Library” accessed by the archeic SMB version 1 protocol. I hate to break the news to the software engineers from Sonos - but the reason very few are still using it is purely because SMBv1 is extremely unsecure and was superseded by SMBv2 more than 15 years ago. Furthermore Sonos appearently only accepts the ridiculously unsecure authentication protocol NTLMv1 and the “newer” NTLMv2 that was introduced more than 23 years ago.So - the reason that very few users are riscing their network infrastructure is simply because they do not really have a choice - do they?On the other side - Sonos could implement SMBv2 and NTLMv2 support in their S2 line.One could even dream about full SMBv3 and Kerberos support …..However - I do not see that move from Sonos - because they claim we do not use NAS anymore.

Looking to install two 65” TV’s side by side on the wall in basement. Using the two separate TV’s for 2 sports events, video game streaming w/ sports on other tv, etc.  Has anyone found a good 3rd party switch that will allow you to toggle the audio back and forth depending on which TV you would like to play through use of a single Arc? I’d like to buy a single Arc for the basement and have the ability to toggle audio back and forth. Other option will be just buy two Beam’s and have them mounted under each TV. Thanks! 

I noticed over the weekend that when I stream from Roon to my Sonos system, 24-bit files are now streamed in their native resolution (up to 24/48). Previously, everything was downsampled to 16-bit. It seems that a Roon update from October enabled 24-bit streaming to Sonos. Anything higher than 24/48 is downsampled to either 24/48 or 24/44.1, but this means that a large portion of my library is able to be streamed natively without being resampled. I appreciate the Sonos and Roon teams for continuing to work on giving us this capability.
