My question is, can I use my gen1 speakers (play3) & gen1 sub with the Arc to play Dolby Atmos

I just purchased a new TV and I’m going through a tech overhaul. I’m cautious to start upgrading all of my Sonos equipment because it works great and would be expensive to replace. However I am definitely interested to taking it to the next level by replacing the Playbar with the Arc. Before I do I just want to make sure that the other speakers will register as I hope.

Kindly,

Drew

The Play:3 and Sub are each able to be used with the Arc, but you need two Play:3 speakers - one for each TV surround rear audio channel positioned either side (slightly behind, ideally) of the listening position.

The system setup, via the Sonos App, will not let you ‘bond’ just one surround speaker only, so another Play:3 is required and will work with the Arc for Atmos audio sent to the HT by an Atmos compatible TV etc.

The Sub (Gen 1) and Play:3s will work with the Arc, but whether or not you will get Dolby Atmos audio depends on your TV model and source. What specific TV do you have? Do you use any external media devices or do you just use the TV’s native streaming apps?
