Building a new house and need recommendation on how to set up and wire the house:  Requirements:  Have four zones Kitchen Living Room Patio Den / Bonus Room Using Siri and Apple devices (iPhone, HomePod voice commands, etc) to play music in select zones “Hey Siri, play 90s Alternative in Living Room” “in all rooms”   Control the volume of the music from Siri and Apple devices for the zones.  The Living Room will have a TV with Apple TV.  Need an option to play audio from Living Room TV to the Zones (at least to living room zone)  The Den zone will also have a TV for movie watching. Would like 5.1 audio in that space that can play audio from TV (movies) and also receive music through the rest of the system (Siri, Apple music, etc.)  Wiring   Kitchen - two ceiling speakers Living Room Two (or four?) ceiling speakers,  Conduit from the fireplace (TV mounted over the fireplace) to built-ins   Tube from built-in to media rack (basement)  Pati

Hi everyone, hope I’m posting in the right place.I have a Beam in my living room, I use it as a regular playbar for TV, shows, movies and so on, but also for listening to the music.In this latter task, it’s not bad for its size and features, but it is not satisfactory for me, especially in the bass realm.I know the simplest thing woud be to add a Sub, but I’m not that enthusiastic. The room is not very big, I care about my relationship with neighbours and… well, it does cost a lot. I can’t but think “Is it worth it?” (please note: for me… personal thoughts and tastes!) So I visited the shop where I purchased the Beam, and the owner kindly allowed me to make some tests:Single Sonos One Beam Couple Ones Beam + Couple Ones Options #2, #3, #4 with Sub Play 5My original idea was to get 2x Ones (SL) and group them with the Beam, hoping they would provide more depth and improve the situation. I think a couple Ones is actually better for music than the Beam, but I wouldn’t call this a game cha

Does anyone know of a headphone amplifier that can decode bitstream audio?The ones i have tried don't decode it and output the just digital noise. TV won't allow the use of PCM via optical while sending bitstream 5.1 to the beam.  Tried using audio extractor and that didn't work either. 

Hi All,I have an intermittent issue where when I switch on or Samsung TV (after it’s been on standby) there will be no sound coming out of the beam. I then must select another source/input on the tv and then switch it back and then the sound will kick back in.I have had this issue for ages and is a bit of pain and wondered if anyone has had the same or knows how to fix it?

just set up the Sonos 5 speaker. Our existing turntable and Optimus amp work just fine on our old speaker. We wanted to upgrade to the Sonos 5… but when hooked up, there is a terrible low hum that gets louder with volume increase and is persistent when the record is finished or in-between songs when there is no sound. the grounding wire is fine and like I say, does NOT have the buzz with the older speakers. So what are we doing wrong? Or is our system no compatible with the Sonos 5? We do NOT get the buzz with any of the other features, meaning the streaming music, etc. Only when using the record player. If we can’t fix I guess we just go back to the old speakers because that hum is giving us a headache.  

Several months back there was an announcement that Arc would be able to play Atmos Music streamed from Amazon and maybe Apple? Latest 13.3.3 firmware update still doesn't provide this capability as far as I can tell. Anyone seen or heard anything new on this subject?

I’ve just purchased a port (upgrade to a connect) 3 weeks ago. Upgraded to S2. So I now have an S2 system with the port and S1 system with the connect.  I continue to find the sound from the connect to be clearer than the port using Qubuz? I would have thought the port, with its improved operating system would have added more clarity, separation, etc.. Any thoughts? thanks.. 

I listen to BBC Radio 4 every morning on my Sonos system. It's my alarm clock.This morning there is a short audio insert just before each hour telling me that the service will be stopping on March 22nd 2021 and that I should contact my service provider to ask them how I can continue to access the BBC content.I'm not in the UK, so the TuneIn service is still available (until now). What are the options for me to still receive my daily dose of British content over my Sonos system?iPhone related options are not applicable in this house.

Hi, I have an XGIMI projector which we use every Friday night and store in between uses.  At present we just bluetooth the audio to a portable speaker.     It works well but I was going to upgrade to a move or a roam.  When I cast via bluetooth to can I thriough that connect it to all the speakers I have in the room - a couple of play ones and and a sonos 5.   If i can I might get the roam.   Thank you David

HelloI want to buy a record player for my partner to connect with his sonos one speaker and soundbar. I am looking to buy the Pro-Ject T1 Phono SB Turntable. Do I need to purchase just the sonos port or do I need an amp as well to connect the record player to the speakers.I was going to buy the Pro ject T1 sonos edition turntable which I believe you only need a sonos port for it to work, however they have sold out. So now a little confused as to what I need exactly for the turntable non sonos editition.Thankyou for any advice..

As a record and turntable enthusiast, it would be nice to have the Sonos app detect a record is playing and automatically populate the app with the track listing and times. I know, I know, I can walk over and read the record, but we’re talking cool internetty tricks, right? This would be one of those. Thanks, Joe

Just set up Beam 2nd Gen. Sound is poor when watching TV via Sky. However, sound is great when streaming - Netflix etc., and when listening to music services. Sony TV, Sky+ box. I’d appreciate any thoughts as to possible fix. TIA.

As reported in many other topics apparently it's still necessary to use SMB1 for playing music from a Synology Diskstation system? It's now 2021 and I just had to change the settings on my diskstation to allow the unsecure SMB1 in order to be able to add a shared folder to my Sonos music library.Sonos seems to be closing all topics on this forum about this subject for further comments, but is not addressing the problem?

I have a Samsung TV model: UN50RU7100FThe link to its specifications: https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/d26a1815In expert settings there is a Dolby Atmos Compatibility setting that one can turn on (which I have).  I’m trying to figure out if I’m truly getting Dolby Atmos when playing Dolby Atmos movies through HBO Max. It says Dolby Atmos on the S2 app. I wasn't sure if my TV is allowing sound to go through it but not as true Dolby Atmos. I've done all the true toning, standing at different distances from the Arc, played with height volume, during big Atmos scenes but just not feeling submersed in the sound. I had another thread I started but this is more geared towards Samsung TV limitations. Not sure if I'm bypassing tv’s max capability or if it's minimizing the true Dolby Atmos. The S2 app says Dolby Atmos being played but I’m having a hard time believing it! 

Hi folks,Apologies I advance if this has been asked before!I’m looking at upgrading my TV and adding a Sonos Arc to my setup. I’m keen to get Dolby Atmos up and running with the sub and two Ones in the rear.The piece I’m a little confused about is the number of eArc ports I will need on the TV.I understand that I’ll need a TV that supports eArc and that I’ll have to connect the Arc to the TV via an eArc enabled HDMI port. That piece is clear.But if I want to play Atmos content from my Apple TV 4K, do I also have to connect the Apple TV to the TV via a port that supports eArc?I ask this as many TVs I’m looking at only have one eArc enabled HDMI port. It’s not until you get into high end TVs you see multiple eArc HDMI ports!Thanks in advance,Chris 

TV dialog does not match sound and the app function to fix this only makes it worse. The sound is always slightly delayed

Hello, Several Speaker of one of my Sonos Playbar are out of order (membrane torn)I disassembled the playbar with success a get the 3 or 4 speakers to changeI would like to buy some new ones. Hey folks, is there a tried and tested way to transmit a bluetooth turntable to the ikea sonos lamp speaker (symfonisk), i think it might be possible to pair the turntable to other sonos products (im not clear on which ones) and then pair the speakers as wifi? But i dont want to try an expensive/time consuming experiment to find out.  Any one know?Cheers , folks

I subscribe to Sonos Radio HD. Why am I being advertised at within the app? Additionally, what kind of gerbil dev doesn’t at least check that the user isn’t in a menu or, say, the volume controls before popping up something like this? If you’re going to show these obnoxious CTA’s at least make the minimum effort to not be a d*** about it.  Also also, if I tap anywhere outside the bounds of the ad, the reasonable expectation would be for it to dismiss. That little X is not very conspicuous. Anti patterns everywhere, unless you’re a parasitic advertiser. Might as well just put a Spin the Wheel modal; it wouldn’t be much lower on the bad-advertising food chain.Mod edit: removed bad language

I have 4 overhead 3rd party speakers connected to a new Sonos amp. I would like to add some bass and want to know if I can pair the Sonos sub to the amp? Or would you recommend the arc? This is for a family room so I’m not looking for a ton of bass.

Has Sonos made it possible to pair 2 x Sonos Move speakers by Bluetooth yet.I only have Internet on my mobile phone so can't WiFi.I would love to have stereo sound , getting desperate.Please help

So I have an arc, two SL’s and a sub. Overall I love the quality I’m getting. However I do have some issues with hearing dialogue in movies. I feel there’s a balancing issue. The background music and effects are great but they’re considerably louder than the dialogue which causes me to to crank the volume to hear/understand the dialogue.  I haven’t found a way to balance this in the app so I’ve been thinking of adding a Sonos five (or a second arc) behind the viewing area of my sectional. Any advice?

I like many people had my Playbar break because of a cheap component - the toslink broke. YouTube has a video on how to install anew toslink but you do need some electronics skills to do that. You would think Sonos would have had a hdmi option but that has already been discussed. So I took the credit and bought the Arc which does Atmos and I am very impressed. Except I cannot use trueplay because my iPad is too new! Anyhow I can now pair my Arc with my Playbar if I want and have two sound bars for hearing what’s on the TV. Or you can use the Playbar in any room. You need to ‘reset’ the Playbar first.

I have alarms set on my Sonos Roam but am now on vacation and away from my home network and want to disable the alarms so they don’t go off every morning.  Is there a way to do this with the Roam in Bluetooth mode?
