Headphone amp that decodes bitstream audio

Does anyone know of a headphone amplifier that can decode bitstream audio?

The ones i have tried don't decode it and output the just digital noise.

TV won't allow the use of PCM via optical while sending bitstream 5.1 to the beam.  Tried using audio extractor and that didn't work either.

You must mean a headphone DAC/amp. Quality DACs will only accept PCM stereo.

For your purposes you’d probably need a headphone surround processor aimed at the gaming market, such as the Turtle Beach DSS2.

Thanks I will look into that. Seems a reasonable price compared to many of the desktop headphone amps.

I guess it’s a different market, where ‘HiFi’ is not the primary requirement.
