Why is there such LIMITED control abilities with 3rd party systems. In ELAN and I hear others, there are many limitations. It is only a very basic controls that are allowed and I hear that it is SONOS that limits this from Multiple providers. the biggest. can not browse through services to find stations, only can select from favorites can not use thumb up/down in pandora can not see the duration of songs. can not create events to turn off zones or play certain station if not already picked in favorites. can not turn a zone to a specific volume. Would be nice to manage that when a zone turns on it is at the desired level can not create events to group zones together or apart And more…. Please sharewe need to voice up and share with sonos that we need better 3rd party support.
I have a sonos beam, 2 ikea symfonisk, a HomePod and sonos roam. I am trying to figure out the best placement for these speakers in our awkward living room that doesn't allow us to sit directly in front of the TV. Any time I try to put furniture in front it feels out of place because it's in the middle of the room blocking the flow. We are typically sitting on the larger couch to watch tv. What would you do if this was what you were working with and keep in mind needing to keep the wife happy.
Hi all, I’ve researching a couple of days now (YouTube, google, here) to wrap my head around this and need some help understanding as I apparently don’t get it. I don’t own Sonos yet, but want to make sure it can do what I need. Current setupHome theater (2nd floor) Denon AVR-X3700H (HEOS, 2 Zones) ELAC Debut 2.0 speakers (l,c,r, rear - wired) Patio (1st floor) 2 Polk Atrium 5 outdoor speaker (wired) The patio speakers were not pre-wired to the home run in the home theater on the 2nd floor, but terminate close to the TV on the 1st floor.I have 2 options: Get a receiver for the 1st floor Run wires to the home theaterI am leaning towards 1. as I would like to expand multi room on the 1st floor and keep the two systems separate. So I need something to power my outdoor speakers, again it seems that I have 2 optionsGet a HEOS compatible receiver Get a SONOS ampFor option 1, my understanding is I can connect the outdoor speakers (obviously) but also can use HEOS speakers to build out a mul
Hi,I just moved, and need to put my existing SONOS system back together, I also have some legacy equipment that I’d like to include. (Most of this was incorporated previously, but everything is jumbled around into different rooms because the sizes and layout of the new house are different.)Specifically, I want to include a CD player, receiver, and legacy speakers. (I know; CD players are so 20th century. All my CDs have been ripped to my computer, and I play them from there. But I have a wife who will never figure out how to run the SONOS system from her phone. She also likes to use the receiver for the amazingly old-fashioned purpose of tuning into over-the-air radio, especially NPR.) It seems that the right configuration is CD Player (RCA)=> SONOS Port (RCA)=> Receiver => SpeakersIt’s clear to me that this works to play physical CDs into any part of the SONOS system. However, it also seems that to play other SONOS music through the legacy speakers, I have to either
I found another user who had a similar problem to mine, but the topic was closed a year ago without a satisfactory solution! So I am resubmitting it with a few slight changes in the details.----------Hi, I’ve been using Sonos since 2009 with few issues but I’m having a problem with my Roam that is frustrating, unpredictable and seems to have no solution other than to wait for it to sort itself out.The Roam is visible as “offline” when it is switched off but is not visible in the S2 app when switched on. It’s clearly still connected to the network in some way as the app shows when it’s switched off (visible in the app) and it disappears when it’s switched on. It can also replay the last music that was played on it by pressing the play/pause button, and given that the current album is stored on the network it clearly still has access to the network. I have tried changing the channel, resetting the router etc. but the problem persists. I have tried on multiple devices and the same problem
A comment regarding Sonos’ product lineup. Why bother with a Sonos Arc if my new Sony 85 inch speakers are wider apart? Please, Sonos, come on board with side speakers! What is there not to like? enabling an extra pair will sell more speakers and encourage folks like me to stay on brand, rather than start from scratch, potentially with a different brand.
Hi All,I am looking to purchase a SONOS Move off a secondary market. I wanted to confirm the serial # on the box is legit and if there’s anything I should be cautious of? S/N is A101 2112WC 54-2A-1B-78-C4-CC-3
I have purchased a Sonos Ray and connected via optical cable to a LG 55 Web OS TV with Magic Remote. Now, everything has appeared to be connected correctly along with Sonos 2 app on my Oppo Android phone. I believe I have tried all settings on the TV and the Sonos app, however, the sound is much less in quality than what the TV produces. Yes, more Bass but quite burring. Voice has like a added burr at the end of each word. Tried more and less Bass and Treble but that does not work. Night Sound and Voice Enhancement on Sonos does also not work. On the TV, I have changed all of the sound settings to no avail. I previously used a Yamaha Soundbar which I now think was a better proposition due to far less sound distortion. Where do I go from here?
Hope this will help anyone having the issue of Sonos One speakers cutting out. Have gone through all the help forums and suggestions and found only one that really works. I have an ARC and sub, Play 5 and four Sonos One speakers. The One speakers would cut out whenever a new song would play. Finally connected the Play 5 to a nearby Eero unit and all speakers play continuously with no cutting out.
Hi,I’m looking to purchase a Sonos system today, basically I’m trying to achieve the following but don’t know where to start, I’m a bit confused by all the different products available.Live in a fairly large size home (6,000 sq ft), entire home has good wi-fi and most rooms have ethernet sockets.I have a Synology DS2314+ NAS that I store my music on, which the Sonos would need to access. If I wanted standard speakers in around 8 rooms, to all play at same time same music, what would the best options be for me please? Also, can speakers be configured independently, for instance, in our kids 3 rooms, can the 3 speakers there be playing something different, whilst the other 5 speakers downstairs are linked to each other?Cost not a problem, as I’ve budgeted for this and will be used for many years. Thanks!
I have a Sonos Roam which is want to use as both a portable speaker but also as an integrated room music device. I have the wireless charger too.The roam turns itself off after a certain time, which means it will not react to voice commands. When I am using it as a room music device I want the speaker to stay on, and even when on the wireless charging stand still turns off. Is this normal?I didn’t have this problem before using the Sonos wireless base.
Hello,I’m moving in to a new place in a new country so I’m having a fresh start device-wise.Only thing I own for the moment is an Apple TV 4K. I don’t want to buy a TV so I will buy/use a 4K projector to watch movies. When I listen to music, I’m using Apple Music from my iPhone and I also have a record collection that is following me. I plan on buying a record player with a built-in pre-amp (https://www.denon.com/en-us/product/turntables/dp-300f)I thought about buying two Sonos Five in stereo for the living room, one being connected to the record player through line. A Sonos One for the bedroom. And a Sonos Move that I could move between the Balcony/Kitchen. Maybe I’ll add a sub-woofer in the living room as well.Would this work? Would everything be connected together? However, I don’t think I’ll be able to leverage Dolby Atmos from Apple Music/ Apple TV with this set-up.From my understanding, I would need an eARC cable going from my projector to a Sonos Arc/Bean right to enjoy Dolby Atm
After a year of trying to figure out why I would have 1 or so seconds of complete sound drop when watching atmos content every 10-25 minutes, I found a thread that fixed it. Setup is a Samsung Q80, Apple TV 4K, Sonos Arc/Sub/Ones. In the Apple TV 4K, turning off match frame rate made the sound drops go away. From what I read, when/if the frame rate reconciles the sound drops. Hopefully this helps others as it took finding the right thread to fix it a year later! Good luck all!
I’m building an outdoor pavilion with a roof and walls on 3 sides (back and 2 sides), with the front side open. I’m mounting a TV on back wall, and want to purchase Sonos speakers to connect to the TV to use for TV sound in addition to music. Given the covered set-up, would the Arc or Beam be suitable for use? I couldn’t find details like IP rating on products except the Move and Roam. The set-up would be protected from direct water / rain and sun, but it does often get foggy overnight, which would likely wander into the space. Temperatures rarely get below freezing and sometimes get to 100 in the summer, but given the shade under the roof, it likely wouldn’t get that hot.Alternatively, if the Arc or Beam wouldn’t be suitable, can you connect the Amp to the TV and use the Sonance outdoor speakers sound from the TV in addition to music?
I have a wired stereo. I just need the Sonos internet box and a bridge. What should I order ?
I bought my Beam when it was first released. It worked beautifully until about 6 months ago. Now voices are low and difficult to hear. I turn the volume way up to hear the voice during a movie or show. However, during a music segment it blasts me. I can’t watch tv like this. I did re-tune TruePlay and Speech Enhancement is turned on. In fact, toggling Speech Enhancement makes no difference. Any ideas? Can a Beam be repaired?
I must be being rather thick, but I don’t see how I can search for a particular composer in Amazon Music Unlimited. For example, if I search my local music library for “haydn” on the PC app, then I get a list of all the variations of haydn - I can then pick one and see all the albums under that composer (e.g. Michael Haydn, rather than Franz Joseph). This isn’t great, and is why I always use the folder view - but it’s better than nothing. However, if I search Amazon music, then there isn’t a composer tab, so I can only see a mish-mash of haydn related info under Artist or Album or Songs. On the phone app, I don’t even seem to be able to choose which dataset to search, but if I choose the composers tab then it only shows my local library. Neither the phone of the PC apps seem to find anything by Michael Haydn. What am I missing, please?
Hi thereLooking for some advice. I have a 9m by 4m kitchen dining room as shown. At the north end it’s all glass (so I can’t put a sideboard or shelf there) dining area. At the south end is the kitchen area with sink, hob, cooker etc. Right now, I have one Sonos Five, positioned on a sideboard as shown in the picture. The “problem” I have is I have to crank fairly loud to get the most out of it in the kitchen area - but that can be too loud for anyone sitting at the dining table.I am considering buying a second Five to put at the south-east corner of the kitchen to fill the room with sound more evenly. But when I look at pairing two Fives, the documentation seems to want them to be a left and right channel about 8ft apart. I also wonder if adding a Sub would be more “room filling”.Curious how folks would get more even sound distribution in the room … sadly putting speakers in the ceiling is not an option! It’ll only be used for music - no TV in this room. Thanks!
Ive been having issues with my Sonos ARC and i can only get sound stable when I turn off the earc option on my LGCX. Which was then outputting sound at 5.1 where available. NOW however it is outputting Dolby Atmos tho i still have earc disabled on my settings. WTF is going?
Dear Sonos Thank you for Sonosradio with smooth jazz.I am a normalt a very happy listener. Though, I have recently more times received the same advert for sex toys. In the advert there is a female voice who advertises sex toys which makes wednesdays special. I find this inappropiate when my 13 year old son is nearby. Off course I have raised him so that he knows what sex is. But sex toys in a radio commercial saturday morning just after breakfast? Honest? Will Sonos please return if you find this appropiate? Of course I could pay to skip the commercials. Normally I am OK with commercials but I didnt foresee a connection between Sonos and adult content.
I currently have the Beam + 2 Ikea Symfonisk bookshelves speakers. The Beam placed in front and the two Symfonisk in the back. However, I’m interested in more sound in the front as not everything I watch onTV is with proper surround sound and then the Beam is a little «weak» sounding all alone. So I was thinking adding two Symfonisk in front as they are cheap and produce good enough sound for this use. Would this work? Beam + 2x Symfonisk taking care of the sounds in front and supporting the Beam in stereo broadcasts and 2x Symfonisk in the back as the rear surround speakers? Thanx in advance for any reply and help!
I want to delete my Sonos account fully and also selling my Sonos Speaker gen2 to a unknown owner, I know about doing the factory reset, but just seems so complicated for a simple process.Anyone had this problem.
I have a stereo pair of Sonos five - I have my turntable plugged in to line in on the left speaker. Can I also use the line in on the right speaker for a CD player, both plugged in at the same time (obviously only using one input at a time). Thanks
Sonos specifications indicate UPNP compatibility. There is an option in the settings menu to enable UPNP functionality. After this is enabled, the UPNP servers on the local network should show up in the Browse Music area. However, I cannot find a UPNP server for the Mac that actually works. Sonos cannot see any of them, even though other clients on the same network see them.I realize there is a “pay to play” feature to use PLEX’s proprietary system, if I am okay with opening my local network to remote access from the Plex servers in Virginia. But I don’t really need another monthly fee and security concern….especially since the functionality I seek is apparently already built in to Sonos. The only media server I have read about working with Sonos locally is the Windows Media Server….which of course it not an option for my Mac.Has anyone figured out any Mac media servers that work like that?
In Sonos Radio KWPQ FM 103.3 is playing some unknown ambient backgroud music. When I load the URL of the stream Sonos does play KWPQ FM 103.3. Does anyone know what's happening here?
