Been waiting for Google Assistant for over a year. Bought my Sonos system because of the promise from Sonos that Google Assistsnt would be available in late 2018. Very disappointed. Moderator Note: Google Assistant is now available for use on Sonos. Read more here.
So it seems since the 10.1 update I can no longer set my sonos beam as the alexa enabled device in a group. This means I have to say the room name to change the lights for example rather than just saying lights and it take effect in that room/group. Where I could previously tick my sonos device under the applicable room/group it no longer let's me tick and will only let me select an Amazon device I.e dot, echo etc
Hello, since I have upgraded my sonos system to 10.1 Smartthings integration is not working. Could you please fix this? Thanks
In my lounge I have a playbar linked to my TV (by optical) with two play:3 as surround sound speakers. The TV also has a google chromecast. I have strange effects happening which might relate to the impending google home integration release but I am not part of that beta as yet ..... If I ask google home to play music from spotify to my chromecast it play the music on the playbar and the play:3 speakers remain silent or almost so (probably is surround sound mode). If I stop google home playing and use Sonos to play music to this 'room' then the play:3 speakers play the music as well as the playbar. If I then stop the Sonos sourced music and then ask Google Home to play music to the chromecast again then the Play:3 speakers play the music at the same volume that Sonos was playing them at. Also if, whilst Google Home music is playing, I group two rooms in my Sonos app (2nd room has another play:3) then the Google sourced music plays in the second room which it would normal
We had Savant hardware/software installed to control our whole house A/V system. All sources, except Sonos, work flawlessly. I’m told that Sonos’ proprietary architecture doesn’t play nice with Savant and that it’s a Sonos problem. Also being told that the fix is to use the Savant streamer in place of Sonos. I’d really prefer not to scrap years of Sonos experience. Hey Sonos who’s the customer? What’s the fix?
All my google minis are linked to my Sony Chromecast built-in Bravia TV's connected to Sonos Beams. "Hey Google, Play some Rock Music." "Ok, Playing some Rock Music you may like." The result plays the music on the linked TV and outputs sound to the Beams via HDMI. I understand the frustrations of others waiting for GA on Sonos but I am not sure that it would be any different than what I have setup now... pending an announcement of the integrated functionality. I used Amazon Alexa Voice service on Sonos and that was very frustrating for me. I always had to turn down the TV so she could hear my Queries on the beam. I also am waiting for a GA Update but more for the curiosity in me and not the necessity. I have read a-lot of the threads on here. Some pen some harsh words and negative comments about the wait. I enjoy all my Sonos products for what I bought them for... Quality Sound(IMO). Anything else is bonus. I was excited about airplay and use it for some cases but it didn't make my exp
Hi, I'm trying to setup "Start Sonos When I Come Home" in my iPhone, but after I press the turn on button, in the configuration screen I can set the zone where I want it to detect that I'm near home and the "Include grouped rooms" options, but the other two options (What favorite ... and Where do you ..) combos, are not being populated with my Sonos information, so without that information, the applet can't be saved. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for your support
Hi Sonos Community, I have trouble using Siri on my phone to with Sonos Beam. In a few videos I've seen that you can tell Siri, "play music in 'Name of Beam'. " However, Siri responds, "Sorry can't find that speaker". I am using the only name listed in the Sonos App, AirPlay2, and Homekit. They each have the same name. Can someone tell me what I could do to make this feature work? Luis
Hi, my parents are deciding between an Apple Homepod and a Sonos One as their smart assistant. I was wondering if the two work together fairly easily? They have Apple Music - would the Sonos One be able to easily play music through the Bose soundbar? Thanks!
Sonos, what have you done!? Just installed update 10.1 and my sonos devices have disappeared from the Spotify app and alexa no longer works. What's going on?
I am pleased to announce a huge update to my Alexa skill for Sonos, "My Speaker". It allows you to do many things that the standard Sonos skill does not, such as playing your local Library, or Favorites, or Playlists, or services including Apple Music. It also allows access to normal Sonos groups (you can add and remove speakers by voice), and play things Everywhere. it does require a companion app (now available for iOS as well as Windows), and is only compatible with US Amazon accounts (not my fault). Setup is simple: no need to change the names of any speakers or anything, just say "Alexa, open My Speaker", login using your Sonos account, then install and run the companion app. If you have any support questions please PM or email me, this forum is NOT the place for support questions for my skill.
don't install if you still want to use third party apps like python-soco or home-assistant
Hello From a few days I knowing Sonos controll API form https://developer.sonos.com/reference/control-api/ Actualy I did it auth process as well, and now I just to try play mp3 file form HD using Sonos API. Unfortunately i can't find simply way to play any mp3 file using API. Could someone show me simply way to do it ? Only what I'm found this is play from url https://developer.sonos.com/reference/control-api/playbacksession/loadstreamurl/ But this means, each file first should be must upload to service and next play. I'm wondering how it is working on my Sonos application in Android. There I can just choice file from my phone and play. I would like this same results. It is possible using this API ?
will the current play 1 be compatible to use Google Mini for control
So I've seen quite a lot of posts about this topic, but haven't seen this one specific question: I realize that google home isnt officially supported by sonos yet. But is it possible to simply use the sonos one as a speaker for google home? Let's say I want to listen to spotify, tell my google home that I want to listen to spotify and the sound just comes over the sonos speakers? I don't mind if there is no group support or microphone support of the sonos one yet
Ok guys I want to be able to put speakers in all my room. And be able to say play music in my room, kitchen etc and the music plays in that room. Or do on my hue app to play in that room. Does anyone know how to set up that system. Regards Ian
I know it is not ready yet but if I buy a Beam now will this work with Google or will new Beams be shipped. In other words will Google Assistent be a hardware or software upgrade?
So I got this idea to make google assistant easily work with sonos (kinda). Tell me if this should work (I didn't buy the sons beam yet): 1. Get a Sonos Beam and a Chromecast 2. Install (Connect the Beam via HDMI ARC to the TV) 3. In the Sonos App group all devices together 4. Use "Play X Song from Spotify on my TV" 5. Music plays on all Sonos Speakers (?) If this works I'll get a Beam! Can someone confirm or deny that?
Dear Sonos, thank you for the music. Speaking of please allow automation of groups, as well as persistent virtual groups, for Sonos Speakers. This appears to be a reoccurring theme from reading the forums - going back as far as 6 years! It would be really nice to have a predefined group, for example "downstairs", to invoke through home automation such as Siri, Alexa, Google, or smart buttons or IFTT. Even a supper simple behavior such as ungrouping any current groups the speaker in the list are part of, then regrouping the speakers into the preset "virtual" group when its invoked would be appreciated. In this way, users could name groups of Sonos Speakers and ask Siri/Alexa/Google/Smart buttons/apps to play to them. (Siri play playlistX downstairs. In the case of a smart button, like a Pop or Flic, press the button to invoke the predefined speaker grouping, and ideally start the music). It would be even nicer if any kind of grouping/ungrouping behavior was exposed for I
Now that the Sonos One has arrived in Gen 2 only to sport more RAM and CPU I cannot help to think they pushed the original with undermined specs to earn more money and be greedy. Maybe that's why they can't push google assistant yet? Because the device has too little ram and cpu power? Maybe its just too underpowered? Maybe they even knew that and that the developers had to find a creative solution to this? And that is really hard for them. That's why GA never comes out or will have limited functions (like alexa). This is just a feeling I have and it makes sense. I feel very ripped off by sonos because of no GA yet.
I know that Logitech Harmony supports and works with Sonos but does it also allow you to select Sonos (+ specific rooms) as a TV audio output? TV being connected via 3.5 / Optical --> Play 5?
Hey Can somebody tell me something about Sonos and Siri Shortcuts. Would be fine in there are options to use Sonos in the Siri Shortcuts App
Is there a product where I can turn my apartment into a rave where the lights are synced to the music playing on the Sonos system?
Thought I'd start a conversation to help other Rako users and the Sonos community to dismistify the setup. To control Sonos speakers from a Rako Controls keypad, you'll need a Rako Bridge and Rako Cloud Gateway (includes an Audio Control Module license) which combined discover and communicate locally to the Sonos speakers. You then need to register your Cloud Gateway at my.rakocontrols.com. Once the Cloud Gateway is configured, you can create a MyRako Sonos activity containing input mappings to control Sonos favourites, setting volume, changing tracks, etc. To give you a scenario for this, I've converted my garage to a gym. In the garage I have a Play 3 and Rako keypad to control the lighting. I got fed up with having to use my phone's Sonos or Spotify app to control the music. So I mapped the garage keypad so that when "1" (scene 1) is pressed the lights come on AND a Sonos favourite is selected on the Play 3. When "Off" is pressed, the lighting goes off and the Play 3 is paused
