will the current play 1 be compatible to use Google Mini for control

Not too sure how Google Assistant will be integrated. If it's anything like Alexa, yes - but will either require either A) a voice-enabled speaker such as the Beam or One - or 😎 A Sonos skill that can be enabled on a Google Mini to then control the Play:1

Example: You can use an Echo device to control your Play:1 after you enable the Sonos skill. You would just have to say "Alexa, play the radio on [Room Name for your Play:1]"

Ideally it will follow the same protocol, but we don't know seeing how it's not released yet.

that’s what I was assuming also but will have to wait ´impatiently’ for the new release to see if the protocol will be same as Alexa. Txs

No official word on this yet. Rest assured, once this can be answered Sonos will let us know.
