This seems plausible to me, but I haven’t seen any clear confirmation. Does it make sense that a turntable to a pre-amp to a television could play through a Beam? (I understand it might not make acoustic sense, but I’m contemplating buying a beam to replace my old receiver in a smaller room)

Hi I am sorry to ask yet another question about having an Echo Dot play all sound or music through a nominated Sonos Play 1 speaker by default. I’ve seen plenty of questions about this but can’t find any definitive answer as far as I can see. Is this feature coming (some say Amazon will deliver it?) or not?

How do you check the audio format that's being outputted by the Beam? I heard you can check it with the app, but I don't see where... I have a beam and two ones and I want to make sure I'm getting surround sound.

I used to be able to command Alexa to play say, Radio 2 from Tunein in Dining Room but since I got a new router I get the reply 'I didn't find anything called dining room that can play music'. On my Alexa app the Sonos speakers appear to be correctly set up as devices, and Tunein is listed as a music service but it won't let me set it as the default music service. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi - Play 5 worked flawlessly and recently stopped being visible on system. I had to unmount from ceiling and finally performing diagnostics and on trying to reconnect wireless, the system flashes orange after pushing the "connect" button. I've seen others with the same problem and seems to indicate a wireless failure?:(

I've just bought a Sonos ONE and have two other old sonos speaker (ie not smart). I thought I would be able to control all three through Alexa, either playing one, two or all three at a time but I can't. Apparently I have either to just control the Sonos ONE with Alexa, and then the others the old manual way on the Sonos app. OR I have to group all three on the Sonos app and then I can play all three via Alexa. This is not what I understood from the advertising. Is there a way I can make my smart Sonos ONE with Alexa control which speakers to play via voice control?

I have a Sonos playbar and an iPhone 6S. While playing music with the Sonos app, the song will randomly stop during playback and switch to a new song. Frustrating when I am into a song and it stops all of the sudden. Any idea why this happens?

Hello, I can’t airplay to a set of stereo paired Play5’s. The speakers don’t show in the device’s options on the iOS now playing widget. The pair isn’t discoverable in the Home app either. (Removed during my troubleshooting and am now unable to add the stereo pair.) When I unpair the speakers, I am able to both airplay to speaker and add the speaker to the Home app. Adding the gen1 Play5 as a stereo pair to my gen2, breaks airplay and integration with Home app. Steps reproduce: 1. Airplay to stereo pair of Play5’s. Fails, no such device listed in airplay device list within the iOS widget. (Playing music to the stereo pair works as expected via the Sonos app.) 2. Unpausing the stereo pair from the Home app fails. Grayed and unresponsive. 3. Separate the stereo pair within the Sonos app. 4. Airplay via iOS works on the gen2 speaker. 5. My sonos 1 only works with Ethernet and won’t connect to WiFi no more, I recently had a new router and reconnected the speaker but still no WiFi voice control for Alexa, can anyone help please

I must be be being a bit thick, and this is obviously not a huge problem,but: Why can’t I make Alexa turn my Beam on by saying, ‘Alexa, turn on the TV’ like on the ads? I can say, ‘Alexa, turn off the TV’ and she will, but I have to say, ‘Alexa, turn on the lounge’ to turn the TV on? It took me a lot longer than you might imagine to work out how to turn it on by voice at all, I was shouting all sorts of things at her. :cool:

Is it possible to control apple tv 4k with alexa on the sonos beam just like amazon firetv as presented on the keynote? I mean „start movie xxx“ for example.

I'm new to the Sonos ecosystem and purchased a Sonos One to replace an old Echo. So far I have really enjoy the music playback and quality of the sound. But compared to Amazon's Echo line, are the microphone significantly less sensitive on the One. Nearly 50% of the time I try to trigger Alexa in a quiet room (no background noise) and normal speaking volume, nothing happens. I would have to raise my voice repeatedly until I'm nearly yelling to wake Alexa. My old Echo in the same position in the Kitchen could be triggered with a mumbling voice, even with the water tap running. I've tried some of the troubleshooting suggestions on other threads by restarting or turning the mic on and off. Is there some settings or way to increase the insensitivity? As it stands right now, it's just not usable as a smart speaker.

Hello! I am interested in buying a cople of Sonos Connects. The plan is to have amplifiers between the Sonos Connects and the in ceiling speakers. In one of the zones I am planning to have a sub woofer aswell. [b]My question is: [/b] When sending music / sound to the Sonos Connect, will there be output from all three (Optical, Coaxial & Analog RCA) outputs AT THE SAME TIME? So I can use one of the sonos connect and connect the Coax to a amplifier and connect the Analog RCA to a sub woofer? /Daniel

I currently use only an Apple TV 4th gen to watch television. This means I use the ATV remote to change the volume of my built in television speakers with IR. I plan on adding a Sonos Beam to this set up. Will I be able to control the volume of the Sonos Beam with the ATV remote?

Hi! Since I don't have TV, and I watch movies on Benq (W1070+) projector (from my laptop or PS4) I wonder if it would be possible to connect Beam with PS4 directly, and if it's good idea? Of course I could connect Beam with projector via HDMI, but I don't trust audio compression capabilities of my Benq (maybe I'm wrong!). Also my MacBook doesn't support optical audio out. I know - it doesn't sound good, but I was waiting for product like this so long, and I would love to order it. Could anyone please help me? Here are my options: 1. Connecting my Benq with Beam via 10 meters-long HDMI (don't feel it's a good idea) 2. Connecting my PS4 via 10 meters-long HDMI with optical adapter at the end of It Another problem is my laptop. So I bought a beam. Lovely piece of kit and it’s playing music nicely. Problem is getting my TV set up... My TV is about 10 years old (Toshiba 37x3030d). It has a digital out but doesn’t seem to work for the HDMI inputs, only its internal digital tuner. I have a BT YouView box, Apple TV and PS4 and was hoping to just take the audio output from the TV so all three of them would work with the Beam with minimal hassle... However the only way I can get it to work is to hook the Beam directly to the component, I.e. hook it up directly to the BT box, etc. The simple solution is to buy a new TV :D but is there anything else I can try??

my speakers have been playing fine but then 1 stopped playing. The light on top is still white and I can use the controls (pause, play, volume) but no music. I tried unpairing and resetting them up and everything worked again for a few days and now the same speaker is not playing music again. The controls work but not sound.

Sonos ONE set up, flashing orange light. Unable to connect to WiFi wirelessly sitting literally next to the router or even when using ethernet cable. Light flashes green until it tries to connect to WiFi, then flashes orange. After a few seconds of not trying anything it flashes green again but will still not connect to WiFi. This ONE is brand new and has never been connected before. Not sure if it's a hardware issue or what is going on.

My Beam flashes White, then goes to flash green and then a constant red light before it starts över again. I cant turn off the light and even if it works fine it seem a bit unstable from time to time loosing connection Any clues?

macbook pro not connecting with sonos

Hi, I have been running a Sonos 5 for a few years now and it works mostly good. But sometimes, the app does not find the Play5 speaker and it mostly happens at parties when it's most "critical" that it works. I have been searching for a detailed description on the networking that Sonos is using, but haven't been able to find it. I'm a network and security engineer and have been working with networks for 25 years. At work, I do enterprise networking, security and routing/firewalling/load balancing. I would like to understand what network topology Sonos is using for the system to be able to debug the system when it doesn't work for me. Is it available ?

HI i hope someone can help me, when i am watching a film auto going thru sonos the talking is at normal so i can here it but then when a action scene come on the volume is TOOO loud, if i turn the action volume down then when they actor start talking agin i can hear the talking, so all the way thru a film i am turn volume up and down.. i have tried changing the setting on the tv to speech, action, theatre etc but nothing makes any difference at all ?

I have 2 play5's and 1 beam. Since the last release, I have been having connection issues. Oddly depending on which app I'm using (Win 10, Android, or Amazon Fire OS) it is a different speaker that disappears. Currently, on my WIN10 app I can control the beam, but neither play5. My android (Pxel XL, Android PI) can see the kitchen speaker. My Kindle Fire HD8 can see the bedroom. I have really solid connectivity for the last few years - up until the last update. Ever since then I am getting horrible dropouts. Luckily, my alarms are still working in the morning so far. Resetting the wireless does fix this, but it is very frustrating.
