Home Theater

Hello, We’ve collected Sonos speakers over the course of a few years and ended up with two fives in stereo and two rear-facing ones in stereo. As I understand there is no way to make the front facing fives part of the 5.1 channel that the soundbar + 1’s + sub would create, correct? Is there any way to accommodate them? We really like the 5’s for listening to music, but the 1’s are not a true rear surround now while watching movies. I know we should have done our homework more, but we slowly acquired these overtime and recently moved, which yielded us a very large common space that contains all of these speakers.

I have just upgraded to a nice new shiny 65 inch Panasonic 2021 OLED TV, everything appears to work perfectly in respect of optical connection from the TV to my Sonos Playbar however the Playbar cannot/will not learn the volume settings from my infrared remote whilst trying to train it using the volume up button. Has anybody come across this issue with the most recent universal Panasonic remote (mine is a R3PA265) and if so is there a known fix to get the volume up, down and mute buttons to work.

Until recently my Sony KD-65A1 TV and Sonos Arc have worked perfectly since I purchased the Arc over 12 months ago. The Sonos Arc is connected to the TV via HDMI/ARC. Recently the TV sound on the Arc has been dropping out after using one of the TV Android Apps such as YouTube. Even when I close the App and go back to TV there is no sound. Once the sound has dropped out the only way to get the TV sound back on the Arc is to disconnect the power or HDMI so the sound switches to the in-built TV speakers and then reconnect the Arc when the sound is then redirected back through the Arc. I have tried all combinations of settings to try and resolve the problem without success. The Sonos App does not show the type of signal from the TV when there is no sound (blank instead of the usual Dolby Digital 2.0, Stereo PCM, etc.) so I think the Arc has stopped processing the sound from the TV HDMI. Both TV and Arc have latest software and I wonder if the issue is as a result of a recent software updat

Could you please kindly assist please…….again!I bought a Arc and installed it ok, the problem is I cannot get any atmos on it?The tv is Samsung 2017 model, if I look at the audio outputs there is no DD+ only DD and only see DD 5.1 in the Sonos app, is the DD+ format totally different to normal DD and should I be able to select DD+ in the audio settings? Maybe the tv is too old?I am aware that the Arc needs to have a minimum of DD+ for it to play a compressed atmosIf I play a blu ray with atmos soundtrack I still only get DD 5.1, there is no tv setting for passthroughwould a HD Fury Arcana resolve this? Also if I stream Amazon music ( not unlimited) via airplay should I see cd format 16bit 44khz in the app as I don’t😥Thank you 👍Martin

I saw there was a similar post on thisBut that was over a year ago, but it still seems to be an issue. I have a Sony Bravia 65” XBR-65X900F and a Sonos Arc hardware version 1.27.1.8-1.2. Is there anything to do to fix this?

I’ve had a Sonos Arc ARCG1US1BLK back in Dec 2020, and have a Sony Bravia 65” XBR-65X900F connected through an ARC HDMI cable. It works about 90% of the time but periodically the Sonos Arc will stop playing audio. Things I typically try to get it working again:Restart TV Disconnect/reconnect HDMI cable Restart Sonos Arc Switch from HDMI to TV source and back Switch between TV speakers and external speakersUsually only restarting the TV fixes it most of the time, but sometimes i just have to restart everything and reconnect everything. The past few weeks though it’s been happening very frequently. I’ve noticed it most when we’re streaming something and pause it. When we try to unpause the audio doesn’t return. What the heck is going on with this thing, is this a known bug that Sonos is going to patch? Can they maybe just add a button to “Fix/Reset” everything automatically. Not having a power button on the device implies there is no need to reset it. Except this thing has been frustratin

Hi,My Panasonic Viera is set to 'surround' in the sound settings and it's connected to my Playbar with an optical cable. But when I watch standard freeview TV and a movie on disney plus on my Roku; my Sonos app still reports a Stereo PCM output.I am a bit nonplussed. Is there an obvious next step for me to check?

Hi. I have a Sonos playbar and a Sonos Play1. Both run on the S2 app. If I purchase a Sonos One 2 gen - will I be able to set the two speakers with the soundbar as surround sound? Many thanksMatt

Hi everyone!I recently purchased a Sonos Arc and have had some difficulty getting my system setup to meet all of my needs, and I could use some help from the community. I’d like to mix part of my existing home theatre setup with the Arc as our home has some pre-wired areas (for rear ceiling speakers and deck speakers). Ideally I’d be able to do these 3 things:Desired Behavior Current Behavior Watch TV and movies in a 3.1.2 setup with the Arc acting as the 3 (if that is even possible??) The only way I can find to get sound to all speakers is to run media through the receiver as input, use the wired speakers (rear speakers + sub) from the receiver, and have the TV connected to the Arc via eARC. However, this leads to 2 disparate controls for volume level for the soundbar and the rest of the setup that is connected to the receiver. Listen to music inside (zone 1) on the Arc + rear speakers + sub I can either listen to music on the Arc -OR- the rear speakers + sub. Listen to music

Hello, I just bought an Arc and Sub to install in my living room. Question with Trueplay in a massive room; do I just walk around the couch and “living room”, or should I walk around the entire open space that includes the kitchen, eating area, hallway, and playroom? The couch is about 9 feet from the tv, but the back wall is 15 feet further back (kitchen).see attachment for floor plan. I am impressed with this setup, I was initially concerned that I would need 2x subs with this massive amount of airspace, but 1x is fantastic, might get a 2nd one (used of course) just to have “better” coverage, whatever that means… HA!

HiI am new to Sonos and I am trying to connect my TV to Sonos Arc and Sonos Amp/4 ceilings speakers. I had bought Sonos Amp and 4 ceiling speakers and connected it to my LG TV. The ceiling speakers worked fine but I could not hear the TV speakers. I read on this community that if I get a Sonos Arc, I can connect it to the TV with HDMI Arc cable and it can wirelessly connect to the amp and ceiling speakers. So, today I got the Sonos Acr too but I am only able to hear from the Arc and not from the ceiling speakers. I called the Sonos Support team and they said I need to have both Arc and my Amp connected to my router via LAN.Can anyone kindly help me to confirm if LAN is required? If not, could you please guide me how to get both of them working with my TV.  thanks Adeel Moderator note: We updated this article in October 2023 with new information below. Here are instructions for the newer Amp…https://support.sonos.com/article/surround-sound-guidelines-and-limitationsIf it’s the older Conn

I've seen this topic a few times and would like to know when this will be implemented? We’ve just had an update and I this has not been included. This “low speech high music” issue has been discussed for over a year now and give the recent update, don't understand why this has not been addressed. I don’t want to have to run night mode or speech enhancer just to watch some content where I can only just hear the dialogue above the other sounds. I’d like control over the centre channel in the arc.Again last night I found myself constantly adjusting the volume to hear certain things, can you confirm this will be implemented shortly? If not, I’ll happily replace the system for one in which I can adjust to my needs.(note: If id known about this issue I would never have invested in the eco system.)

Hey brains trust, I bought an Apple TV 4K to add to my existing set-up, which comprises of the LG C1 and the Arc/2x One SLs/Sub gen. 3. I read connecting the Arc to the C1's eARC HDMI port and the Apple TV 4K to one of the "regular" ARC HDMI port is the way to go.Is this the above an optimal connection sequence in order to maximise the entire set-up's audio performance/feature sets (lossless sounds, Dolby Atmos, etc.)? Or does the ATV4K have to be plugged into the eARC port instead?I'm relatively new to the Sonos ecosphere and home theatre in general, and still learning how things relate/interact with each other.

Okay, Im sure this question has been asked before but i cant seem to find a fix/answer at all only somebody saying to set a volume limit (which wont work in this case and ill explain why later on) My Setup: 2 Sonos One speakers either side of our sofa and 2 sonos in-ceiling speakers connected directly to the sonos amp which is connected to my Samsung 75” smart TV using ARC-HDMI Volume levels for following scenario:  1/10 is really quite  and 10/10 is really loud Scenario: Watching TV volume at 5/10 everything is fine. Turn tv off and cook dinner. Ask Alexa to play a song on Spotify on the Sonos ONE (have grouped them so they also play through the ceiling speakers). Volume is now 10/10 and neighbour can hear my music just as well as I can. Volume is so loud it almost punctures your ear drums. Turn the volume down to 5/10 to listen to music during dinner. After dinner you turn the TV on to watch a film and the volume is 1/10 and you cant hear a thing so you turn it up to 5/10 again and n

Hi I’m thinking of upgrading from a beam to an arc for my tv surround system along with the 2 ones and sub I already have.My question is can I use the beam as a speaker for radio and music in another room or is it only for use as a soundbar ,if so I presume I have to unpair it from the lounge and set up in a different room Thanks in advance Phil

After about an hour there’s no audio and the only way to get it back is to power cycle the arc. Im trying with just the arc.  Sun and surrounds disconnected from room

Hi. I'm hoping you can help with a question. I have a LG Nanocell TV with a magic remote serial number akb75855501.I'm thinking about getting the new Ray soundbar. Will the remote work with the Ray? I can't work out if it is IR as well as wireless. Thanks very much.

I have an Arc for the front of the theatre with a sub woofer.I also have a pair of in ceiling architectural speakers in the rear ceiling. These are also sort of in the kitchen area as the room isn’t that large. The pair of rears are connected to an amp so i can have the full 5.1 but i was wondering if i wanted the rear pair to just play music as a zone of audio like the rest of the house is it easy to switch between the rears being music zone only to then be a part of the 5.1I didn’t think i needed to buy a second amp for one pair but maybe in the Sonos app / settings it’s just switching there?

Does plugging into Ethernet degrade audio performance of ATMOS or other content in any way or can it only help with bandwidth for streamed audio content? My understanding is... as long as optical adapters to port audio into the arc are not used, and the eARC from the tv is used via a quality HDMI cable, it will have the bandwidth to carry the Atmos content from the tv to the arc. (Obviously the quality into the tv also matters.) Basically don't try to use optical period. If I have hard wired ethernet, plugging ethernet is better than wifi. I have hard-wired ethernet to the Arc, and I use the hdmi over eArc from the tv to the Arc. I was hoping someone can confirm this is optimal? Also, for sonos sub, and/or one sl's ....plug the ethernet directly in or let the built-in wifi from the Arc push this to those speakers? Which is more efficient/better/etc.? Wondering if there are tradeoffs to consider. I appreciate any insight any Sonos engineers might be able to provide.  Thanks in advance!

Anyone know how to make this work?

I use an Arc as my TV sound system, but fairly often when playing games I’ll play a podcast over the Sonos system using either PocketCasts or AirPlay. There’s a problem where the Arc’s “Autoplay TV” setting is too aggressive, especially when playing games. Sometimes just going in to a menu in game will cause the Arc to switch from my podcast to the game audio.  Is there any way of having Sonos only switch to TV audio when there isn’t any other media playing?

Good morning, I had a problem this weekend with my tv updating. No volume indicator on screen. Restarted system and that was corrected. Now the Sonos beam sounds hollow and the volume is still high even when the volume is turned down to zero. Any suggestions? Thanks

If I send the Sonos beam (gen 2) a 5.1 signal without any Dolby at most content, will all of the speakers in the Beam still be used? Or will a couple of the speakers go to waste because of the lack of Dolby Atmos information being sent to them?

So I got a LG 55UM7450PLA TV with an HDMI ARC-outlet. However, the TV does not support Dolby Atmos accoring to its specifications. I also own a PS5 which do support Dolby Atmos.  Can I somehow get Dolby Atmos from my Sonos Arc or am I doomed to having to buy a new TV?
