If I send the Sonos beam (gen 2) a 5.1 signal without any Dolby at most content, will all of the speakers in the Beam still be used? Or will a couple of the speakers go to waste because of the lack of Dolby Atmos information being sent to them?

The Beam uses the five speaker arrays and psychoacoustic technology to render two additional audio channels to give the impression of height with Dolby Atmos content. These are the same drivers that are used when playing 5.1 content. So all drivers will continue to be used when playing non-Atmos content.
