Hello, maybe someone in 2018 has found the solution. Do you know if are there any “boxes” like an audio extractor that convert an HDMI INPUT DTS in a optical output DD 5.1? Even optical in and out will be ok. Unfortunately I only found extractor that separate video from audio from HDMI input to an optical output, but don’t do the DTS to DD transcoding. It means that if the HDMI source is DTS, the optical output will be DTS, and if the HDMI source is DD 5.1, optical output will be DD5.1. I’m searching for a converter that with DTS HDMI input, will output a Dolby Digital 5.1. Thanks

Support more than one remote All households have 3 or more remotes, and sometimes even more – It is so annoying to have to switch between the remote you are using to control your media, and then use another remote to control volume – It'd be great if regardless of what remote you were using, you could control the Playbar volume Support RF (Radio Frequency), not just IR (Infrared) signals Many remotes for Smart TVs including Samsung, the worlds largest Smart TV manufacturer, only support RF signals with their remotes – Users have to find weird hacks to make the $700 playbar work with the TVs. Show a volume indicator to the TV For many TVs, once Sonos is connected, do not show the volume level as it goes up or down – it is so annoying to have to guess what level of loudness the Playbar is when you do not use the app.

Hi I have been using the following combination sucessfully until Kodi upgraded to Krypton. I run Kodi on a NAS (Asustor) that outputs the audio via HDMI to a Samsung TV U55. This TV has a box connected to it with 4 HDMI ports and 1 optical out. The optical out is connected to my Sonos Playbar. I have tried all kinds of settings on the internet. Without success. Current settings in Kodi: Audio: 2.0 Allow Passthrough AC3 capable receiver AC3 decoding the audio device is HDA in Samsung Anyone have this issue? Any suggestions what I could try?

So I am forced to use PCM digital output in order to hear sound on my Sonos using Fandango Now. This wouldn’t be a problem if the sound quality didn’t become distorted on louder action scenes. Hard to describe the sound just a loud cracking noise. I have watched the same movies on Vudu (which work using the auto digital output setting) and don’t have these same sound issues. Hi, I was watching tv when all of a sudden the power went in the sockets. My fuse box had tripped. After resetting the fuse the Sonos PLAYBAR will no longer power on. I have swapped fuses and tested the sockets which are all working well. What can I do now?

I purchased my Playbar yesterday and to be truthful did a lot of research comparing sound bars for quality, sound, and cost, but the topic the TV optical/toslink output not passing 5.1 didn't come up until the sales man at BestBuy advised me to check the specs on my TV. Well my Samsung TV (UN55c8000) is one of those that doesn't support 5.1 on the digital output (toslink) port when devices are connected via HDMI to the TV. Like many people I have speakers wired into my ceiling of my living room. There are two speakers which are wired into a closet in a different room which is great because the components are out of sight. However are there any updates/ upgrades to the connect amp where it would not need to be wired into the same network switch as the Playbar. Like many other PLAYBAR users, my TV does not Output Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound to the PLAYBAR, it would only output stereo. We have a Bose 1-2-3 in the small family room of our condo. It has a subwoofer, but we are never able to play it very loud as it would disturb people in the next unit. We recently bought the Sonos 1 and are quite impressed. I'm thinking of buying the Playbase to replace the Bose unit, but do not want to buy the subwoofer -- at least not at this time. We may add a pair of 1s in the next future. Can anyone advise as to the audio quality compared to the Bose?

I have been an audio Sonos user for many years but have not yet started into the Sonos home theater arena. I have been offered 2 Play:5 Gen 1's from a friend who no longer wants them, and my hope is to use them as rear speakers in my "critical" audio listening room where I have a Connect. The room also has a TV, and is connected to a receiver for left, right, and sub, but I have no rears (or center). So my question is, can I set up the Play:5's as rears, and not have to add or change anything else? The room will still be used mostly for stereo audio as its main use. Thanks!

Hi, I've always preferred having my rear speakers playing the same as the front speakers. This makes the sound fuller in my opinion, especially with vocals coming from all around you. I don't like how standard surround sound has no vocals at all coming from the rear. My last setup I put everything in stereo and this worked how I wanted it but I can see no way of making my Sonos speakers play in stereo. I have read about trying to separate the playbar and rear speakers then joining them somehow but I'm worried if I do this I won't be able to control the volume of the rear speakers and it will be blasting out from behind me because you can only change room volume instead of individual speakers. Any help in figuring this out would be appreciated. If it helps I also run my videos from my computer to TV using HDMI and from TV playbar using optical. If there is a way that I can force my computer to output in 2.0 stereo I would be more than happy to do it this way if anyone knows how,

Hello; If I pause my TV for a while my Playbar stops playing the input. Before the last update it would go to 0 volume and then slowy fade up. Now it just doesn’t play at all. I have to go to the Sonos app and play Line In again. Anyone have an idea what may be going on?

Hello Guys, I just got a samsung Mu7000 last week and today I got a playbar. The playbar sounds great but I would love to be able to control it with my universal control. But after spending an hour on the phone with sonos support (which is good btw) we accepted defeat. Has anyone got this combo working please? thanks Brian

I have two Play 5s 2nd gen which are paired with line in to right speaker from my tv. Sometimes - and it’s not clear what causes this - I get audio drop out. I have now attached both by Ethernet cables directly to the router - it’s improved but still getting some drop out. I have to use uncompressed setting to maintain lip sync. Is there an optimal set up to avoid the drop out? Thanks!

Basically, I'm looking for a UHD Blu Ray Player that supports HDR 10 and Dolby Vision that will resample the DTS Core to Dolby Digital for my Sonos surround system. It would be nice if this was an excuse to buy an Xbox One X! Thanks.

I have a very basic setup - base station and Connect:AMP with a pair of outdoor speakers. The system has been working fine for 2+ years. Its a seasonal place, so last weekend I reconnected the outdoor speakers and found that no sound was coming from the Connect:AMP. The app was connected and thought it was playing music. I checked the speakers and wiring (using a battery) and those were fine. I tried resetting the base station and adding the Connect:AMP as a new component and still have the same problem. Could this be a firmware issue? Anyone have any ideas?

I did search and was unable to find anything. I like to use YouTube to DJ when I am having people over. In my living room I have a playbar, base up front and 2 Play:1's are rear channels. What I am wondering is how can I make the rear channels run like they do when I play music normally instead of rear speakers when using Youtube through my smart TV.

I would like to try connecting Sonos One and Bose Cinemate 130 using Sonos Connect to get audio on the Bose Sound bar and the paired two Sonos Ones. Has anyone tried this? I don't want to sell my Cinemate to get Playbase/Playbar.

I’ve seemed to run into a pickle. I bought a Sonos Play 1 and a Sonos One with Alexa for my surround sound theater system with my Playbar. Yet, when I go to set up the surround sound, the two seem to be incomparable to create a system together in that way. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a work around? I’m unsure why Sonos would make it so this wasn’t possible with the unnecessary of having two Alexa speakers in one room.
