Trying to understand how AirPlay 2 will work with Sonos. I have a Denon AVR x2400-h supporting AirPlay 2. If I would buy a Sonos one would my Denon receiver appear in my Sonos app? If so, can it be turned on as well? :) If not, then I suppose I would use my Apple TV, though then the same question, would the Apple TV appear in the Sonos app? Or would I only be able to Control Sonos via Apple TV.

I am sure its not meant to work this way but my issue is that my TV has to be turned on for my system to work. Optical Out from TV to Sonos Play bar HDMI Out from Apple TV to TV HDMI1 Airplay music from iPhone to Apple TV and TV needs to be turned on for Sound Bar to function. Really??? Thanks in advance if anyone out there sees my mistake and can suggest a solution where I dont have to turn my TV on. Thanks DG

I have the Sonos Beam and it's great for music/AirPlay but watching TV is incredibly frustrating. I'm using ARC HDMI through a Samsung MU6300 with an Apple TV 4K. The video is ahead of the audio. I've tried setting the Samsung audio delay to 0 ins settings which helps a little. The audio delay in the Sonos app is useless as it needs to go the other way. I've tried setting the AppleTV to stereo and every other audio related setting I can find and nothing works. There is a slight delay between the video and the audio no matter what, which is extremely grating. How can I fix this? Is there some kind of magic combination of settings that will make this work? This is an expensive set of components for this not to work correctly.

Just switched from Direct TV to Spectrum (formerly Time Warner Cable) yesterday. Technician was unable to figure out how to sync the Spectrum remote with our Sonos system so that we can control the volume via the remote instead of using our smart device(s) to do so. Spectrum Customer Service suggested that I call Sonos to see if they have a code(s) that are compatible with the remote, but they're closed today (Sat). Our Direct TV remote was compatible with Sonos, so it can be done. No...we are not going back to Direct TV. Any other suggestions?

I know there are lots of topics on this, but they are all old. Any news on getting wireless headphones to work with playbar/sub? There is no way to listen to the tv privately with sonos at this point.

Sony UBP-X800 does not have an option to force usage of Dolby Digital 5.1, unlike the now discontinued Samsung BD players. Is there any chance of getting someone at Sonos to talk to the guys at Sony, asking them to add that option to their current range of BD players? Sonos, either that or please implement DTS support. Right now there is no BD player on the market that can reliably provide surround sound to your Home Theatre "solution".

For those of us with TV's that can pass 5.1, does the BItstream (Mix) setting enable the PS4 to transcode DTS to DD5.1 and pass it via HDMI to the TV, enabling the TV to then send the 5.1 via optical to the Playbar/Playbase?

I have a Sub, two Play 1s, and Playbar for my main living room TV. The TV sits on a media console and I sit directly in front of that, about 12 feet. The Sub sits next to the media console, with the Playbar in front of the TV and the two Play 1s on either side of the Playbar. I know the two Play 1s should be on either side of me by the couch, but I have no where to put them unless I mount them into the wall on either side of my couch, which I don't really do. My question - am I losing a lot here leaving the Play 1s where they are, next to the Playbar. Also, how do I know with certainty that I am getting Dolby Digital - when I check Advanced Settings it does day Dolby Digital - but what does that even mean in terms of watching content? I have a 4k Apple TV hooked up and set the sound on that to Dolby Digital. It is very confusing whether I should invest in a HDMI switch to achieve X. I have a Sony 65" X900E. Thanks!

Greetings, first time poster. I thought I had a simple solution to the lack of a headphone connection in my Sonos setup. And I was not interested in spending money on a Connect if I didn't need to. Why not, I thought, have an optical audio switch in line before the signal goes to the Playbase? So the audio connection would be from TV into the switch, and the switch would have two optical audio outs. One would feed the Playbase, and the other could go to my AV receiver (which is no longer the main source of output now that I have my surround setup)(a Playbase, a pair of Play:3's and a Sub. The AV receiver is perfectly fine, just unused) With a switch in line, I could choose only the output I wanted. My plan works great by manually unplugging from the Playbase, and then plugging into my AV receiver. I plug my headphones in to the AV unit, and I get my desired effect: headphone sound for me, and no output from the surround to wake up my wife. When I want to switch back to the sur

Hello everyone, I would like connect my Optoma HD27e projector + Apple TV with Sonos One's. The reason why I do ask this question is that due to some problems (no idea why it is happening), I am not able to stream all the sound from Apple TV via Airplay to Sonos. Some apps do work nicely, some apps send the audio to HDMI only and there is no way to make them play via Airplay. So my imaginery plan is to let Apple TV play everything to HDMI (projector) and connect the audio from the projector to Sonos. Just to make it sure, I do not plan to buy now or in the near future the beam, so I am looking for a solution clearly to Sonos One. What I would like to do is to connect projector to Sonos Connect and then to stream the sound to Sonos One. Is this solution feasible? If not, would that be possible with Sonos Amp? If so, will there be any audio delay? Thanks for all the advices!

I have a projector screen mounted in the middle of a room. Can I mount a Sonos Beam high up, at the ceiling of the room? Or will it sound weird, coming from up there? I also have: A Sonos sub (on the floor) 2 Sonos Play1 (about 1 meter from the floor, at the sofas corners)

I have two conventional rear ceiling speakers wired to a Sonos AMP connected to my TV via HDMI ARC. Can I connect a pair of Play 5 (2nd Gen) speakers and use these as the Front Left and Front Right in a surround sound set-up? It doesn't seem like the software will let me add the AMP as surround speakers and pair up the fronts at the same time. Thanks

Hello, This evening I have unboxed and setup my Beam system. I have done this after reading about issues some TV's have passing through DD 5.1 signals, as a result I wanted to get some feedback and confirm my system is setup correctly and that my TV is correctly sending DD 5.1 to the Beam from other HDMI sources. My setup is that I used a Fire TV Stick connected to an HDMI port as my primary streaming device and then I have the Beam connected to the TV via an HDMI ARC connection. Freeview TV Most shows I viewed displayed in the Sonos app as "Audio In: Stereo" but one show displayed as "Audio in: Dolby Digital 5.1" Fire TV Stick With my Fire TV Stick surround sound setting set to "Best Available" the Sonos displayed as receiving "Stereo" on all content from both Amazon Prime and Netflix content. If I change that setting to "Always Dolby Digital" then content on Netflix and Prime showed as "Dolby Digital 5.1", and a show on the Fire TV IPlayer app displayed as "Dolby Dig

I've just setup a new Playbase and all went smoothly, with just one small exception. When I change volume and use the mute key the TV shows this message "TV Volume is Fixed". My Playbase volume is adjusting correctly, and my TV speakers are setup to be off. (That is how I want it - the TV speakers are not competing with the Playbase) I searched for this message and found a number of threads, but the solutions all involve changing the Audio Out setting back from Fixed to Variable. But this is self defating because it re-enables the TV speakers ... so it's no solution. The perfect solution would be TV speakers Off, Playbase volume adjusted either by remote with synchronised sliding volume indicator coming up on the TV and no "TV volume is Fixed" message appearing. But I suspect the slider part is just not possible. The next best solution is same as the above, with no message or slider appearing on screen as volume is adjusted by remote. Can the HDMI to Optical-audio adapter for Beam be used to connect the Playbar to a HDMI port?

Have a Beam, Sub and 2 Ones as rear surrounds in my home theatre setup. The Beam's really not cutting it compared to having two floor standing speakers as front left and rights, especially when just listening to music. I'd like to add 2 decent floor standing speakers. Am I right in thinking the only way of integrating them into the setup for music playback is via a Sonos Connect? Also, can I integrate them into the existing Home Theatre speaker group as front left and right along with the Beam? Thanks in advance.

I have a soundbar and 2 play:1' s connected to my samsung tv. What i find when watching channels lije the news m is that speech only comes from the soundbar and the rear play:1's are quiet. Then the adverts come on the tv, the speech is replaced by music and the rear speakers come alive and ive got sound all around. Is the speech only from the soundbar a feature of the system or have i not got the system set up correctly? Does anyone else have this annoying feature? Thanks

When I first installed the beam I was able to turn on and off my TV through the Alexa and Arc HDMI port. Now however I get the error message "sorry the hub that device tv is connected to is no longer responding, please check that connection and power supply. The beam and tv are connected to the internet, other smart plugs and devices to n my house work in command. I haven't changed anything on my network and I've power cycled everything. Nothing has worked yet. Samsung Smart TV, Beam, and two Sonos One's Thoughts?

Can anybody here confirm if the Sony UBP-X800 has a menu option which allows us Sonos users to convert DTS to DD5.1, so we can output to a playbase (that's connected via optical from TV). The UBP-X800 would be connected directly to the TV via HDMI? If it makes any difference, my TV is a Sony XD93.

I recently bought the LG OLED55C8PLA and connected it via optical cable to my Playbar with sub and two sonos 1s. I have apple tv4k in hmdi 1, a samsung blueray dvd player in hdmi 2 and Nintendo switch in hdmi 3 Can anyone guide me through the set up process how to get the best surround sound experience? My sonos app keeps saying “stereo “ for audio input. This is both the case for the native netflix and Amazon app i am using as well as the apple tv. I have switched apple tv from atmos to 5.1, still same problem. Im traveling the next few day so cannot give feedback straight away but thanks for any advice in advance Nick

Hi, Just got a Sonos Connect, attempting to hook it with Denon AVR-3312, to play Sonos music to those speakers (Sonance) wired to Denon AVR. I ordered the digital optical audio cable and need some help as to how to hook the cable between Sonos Connect and Denon AVR using the digital optical audio cable or RCA cables. Thanks so much, Jay

Hi all. I currently have a Samsung TV (Samsung UE40H6700) which I have connected to a Samsung Soundbar (Samsung HWF751). Occasionally, we use a projector (BenQ W1210ST) by connecting a FireStick to the Soundbar HDMI IN, and then connecting the Soundbar HDMI OUT to the Projector. This all works well. I am considering upgrading the Soundbar as it's started to drop out randomly and, as we have a few Sonos products, liked the look of the Beam. My issue is that I don't understand how I could get the same functionality without an HDMI OUT on the Beam? And will the Firestick work by plugging into the HDMI Arc input or do I need to use Wifi? I am confused with how connectivity seems to have decreased since I bought my kit 4 years ago - assume I must be missing something! Thanks in advance for any advice.

Diagnostic report 8079857. I've had my system for about 4 months. I had my Playbar connected wirelessly to my network and added a sub and two Play 1 for the surrounds. It worked great until about a month ago when the left surround started dropping off. When looking at room settings in the app, it would say (+SUB+?+RS). I tried removing from power for 30 seconds, removing surrounds, adding surrounds. Sometimes it would work for a few minutes and then drop off again. I tried setting it up as the right surround speaker and even switched physical sides and the issue followed, app showed (+SUB+LS+?). My system has received all the updates and I even have since hooked up my Playbar via a wired network connection with no improvement. I attempt to remove/add surrounds and it detects the speaker long enough to advance the app but is followed by the message "Setup Problem: There was a problem preparing your speakers. Please check your network connection or the power on your speakers in this room

I have a Beam connected via ARC to my new LG OLED B8. TV is set to output sound via ARC. Everything is working, Alexa can control the TV etc. and sound is playing in sync through the Beam. However when I change the volume using the LG remote or my Apple TV remote, the volume will change but no volume indicator appears on the TV (when using LG remote small +\- sign will display on the TV but no level, when using Apple TV remote nothing will display). On my old Samsung (same Beam connected via ARC) a volume bar labeled “Beam” would appear showing volume range from 0-100. I did not set this up, it just came up automatically. Is there a way for me to get this same volume bar to appear on the new LG B8?
