Troubleshoot, tune and get the most out of your system

The bottom line: After you set up an SMB share as a music library, wait an hour. Problems go away. The details: I recently set up my Music Library (a samba share on a Linux server). Sonos connected to the library, scanned it without error, and I was able to browse the library just fine from the Sonos app. However, whenever I tried to play any files within the Sonos app, playback would fail with a variety of errors that changed from minute to minute (“Content is unavailable,” “Permission denied,” “Connection timed out”, etc.). Also, none of my album artwork was visible, even though it was stored in “folder.jpg” files for each album in a separate folder. An hour later, after making no changes, all the problems vanished. Album artwork was visible, and all files in the Music Library were playable in the Sonos app.Moral of the story: wait an hour after adding & scanning a Music Library. What’s Sonos doing during that hour? Beats me. Maybe it’s analyzing every MP3 file for secret messages.
I am starting to use my second Arc Ultra. The first arc was experiencing fuzzy sound. (like a fuzz box for an electric guitar) I returned it and got a new unit which doesn’t seem to have the fuzziness problem. Now when I’m listening to my new unit, I’m noticing that the left and right channel balance on the Arc seems to be skewed to the right. Vocals do not come from the center of the unit but more towards the right side. This is particularly noticeable when playing music. Either through the Sonos app or through the Apple Music app on the Apple TV Unit. Are other people are experiencing this?I wonder if it perhaps has something to do with the woofer speaker being overly active? (it’s located on the right side of the arc unit.)I have definitely run true tone on the set up. I’m using the arc together with two era 300s set to surround sound and the Sonos sub 4. I have seen a few other posts where people are asking this question having heard the same thing.I suppose I will have to call Sono
I have a surround sound system that uses 1 x beam gen 1ikea symfonisk table lamps gen 1 can I add a Sonos 5 gen 2 to the same system as a rear speaker. thank you for your support
Several more Sonos releases have been and gone, and yet there seems to be no progress with restoring what should be basic functionality in the App which would greatly improve the User Experience:Still cannot save the current Queue to a playlist. Such a basic feature. The Sonos Windows App can do this, as can third party Apps. Why do Sonos think this should not be included in the IOS App? After playing a radio station still cannot revert back to playing the current loaded queue with the App. Again easily done in the Windows App and third party Apps. Would it be so difficult to add a button to the now playing screen to get back to the queue? Alarms can be created, switched on and off - but once created they cannot be deleted?I think Sonos would be better off spending their time restoring some of these simple User Interface issues, rather than seemingly concentrating on secondary issues such as controlling Hue lighting via Sonos voice commands.
Purchased Eros300 2 years ago. I have to say I am extremely unhappy with how the entire system performs. Connection issues, now we r battling with the above. The number of updates that are rolled out are always posing a new problem. I have about 3+ invested in Sonos which is why I am hesitant to sell it and move on to something else. Anyone have any suggestions?
I’ve just spent over an hour on the phone with Sonos Support, who, whilst extremely helpful, have been unable to fix this problem, so a last-ditch attempt is asking the community!3 months ago, I bought the following system:-2 x Era 1001 x Sub MiniAt first, it appeared to be working well, and I successfully paired all three speakers. However, one of the Era 100’s started to disconnect occasionally. It has now totally disconnected and is missing from the Sonos app / system. Here’s what I have tried so far:-Reset router Reset access points Reset Sonos speakers Switched off firewall Switched off VPNs Changed access point (from Unifi to Xytel) Hard reset the problematic Era 100 Hard wired the problematic Era 100 (with a USB-C to Ethernet adapter). Tried both iPhone and iPad iOS appsWhen I do a hard reset of the speaker, the Sonos app successfully discovers and adds the speaker. However, it displays a message that the speaker may not show up in the Sonos system.I have checked my UniFi U7 a
i have the sonos arc and i put in a home theater setup. i have no idea where to put the sonos arc because there’s cabinetry behind it that is not perfectly symmetrical. where would you put the sonos arc in this setup? is there a way to hang it from the ceiling? can i place it on the cabinets but off center? the seating is on the left already.
I’ve seen various posts stating that the Sonos Ace ANC exhibits various popping or crackling effects as a result of nearby high-pitched sounds like knives, forks and other cutlery banging together.Examples:https://en.community.sonos.com/headphones-229145/sonos-ace-crackling-static-popping-with-certain-sounds-issue-with-anc-6927617 https://en.community.sonos.com/headphones-229146/sonos-ace-feedback-over-bumps-6897038Has this been fixed?I understand the newer Firmware has greatly improved the ANC, but I can’t find a clear conclusion on this topic.
My Era 3 x2 and Era 1 system have been plagued by connection issues. I've spoken to Sonos support and changed my router settings (shouldn't have to). They still didn't connect to the app consistently until i really made a stink on this forum two months ago (alongside lots of others experiencing the same issue) and several days later an update arrived and the system started working. It appears some clever sod has updated it again because it's not working again. My devices are still under warranty and I've had enough of this crap service now. Why can't you just keep them working? Is it really so hard Sonos?
I have the arc ultra , 1 sub. My room is about 25-30feet from tv to to back wall. Couch is in the middle. Subwoofer is behind us in the back right corner. I want to know if it would be worth getting Sonos 100 as surrounds or if 300s would be too much?
Does anyone know where I can get an end cap (speaker cover) for an Arc? I just bought the last one ex display and on delivery the cap is missing. Sonos don’t have spares? Help
I know the Arc Ultra has the capability to sound brighter. More crisp. More clearer. More treble. It comes alive and shines and excels with Atmos content and even that can sound more crisp….but is dull otherwise with music and movies. Just feel like for the money I spent, I should have the option to go brighter and make all content come alive. It has like a gazillion speakers in it. It has so much potential. But I haven’t been able to enjoy this investment. The new Sonos amp tho, sounds amazing. I have that running some sonance speakers. Sounds crisp and clean.
Can anyone advise on this please? I have a lot of Sonos components - two Connect:Amps, 4 Play 1s and 3 Play 3s. Everything is running on Sonos S1 as most of them won’t support S2, and all my music files (about 50,000) live on a 10 year old Buffalo Linkststion Duo LS-WXL NAS The NAS also has video and movie files that are accessed by the various TVs around the house The whole home network is wired so nothing, including the Sonos, is wireless (except for iPads etc). It looks like my NAS is failing - I’m still working out if it’s a failed drive which would be easy to replace or if it’s the whole unit. If it’s the whole unit that needs replacing then I can do that but my question for anyone here is, what replacement NAS do it get? I need it to run with Sonos S1 or I’d have to replace my entire and expensive Sonos system, which I don’t want to do as there’s nothing wrong with it. Im not en expert in these things but I gather there may be an issue with SMB versions with a new NAS and Sonos S
Hi everyone,I’ve been working with Sonos Level 2 Support on this issue (case **********), but I wanted to check if anyone here has found a working solution for this situation.Device details Model: Sonos Connect:Amp (C100) – second-hand unit Serial number: *************** Software version: 78.1-52020 (S2 16.1.1) Hardware version: 1.17.3.1-2.1 Accessible locally on port 1400 Internal pages responding: /status/zp and /support/review Shows: StubReason: secreg QuarantineReason: – Added to my Sonos system, but playback is blocked until the update and secure registration complete. What I’ve tried so far Multiple update attempts through different isolated networks: iPhone hotspot → Mac internet sharing → TP-Link C1200 router → Connect:Amp via Ethernet Also tested on ZTE Wifi Silbo, Linksys mesh + Starlink (bypass mode) The update starts normally but fails at the end with Error 27 (also Error 1013 on macOS). The Connect:Amp clearly has internet access (download starts
I put a DVD on last week and the sound coming out of the Playbar is fantastic [as an aside i have a Beam attached to the tv in the other room and the Playbar sounds so much better] I then tried to add in the two Play 1 [set up in stereo mode in the kitchen] speakers I have to the Playbar so i could continue hearing the soundtrack to the dvd whilst cooking in the kitchen. However the sound on the playbar continued fine but the Play 1’s kept dropping the sound every few seconds I tested it by changing the sound to my Sonos Roam - unticked the Play 1 and ticked the Sonos Roam Same effect - sound dropping from the roam but the playbar held the sound no problem can anyone tell me what is happening here ?
My sonos arc doesn’t produce sound when I turn on my setup of epson projector connecting sonos through an audio extractor automatically. It works sometimes when I turn off sonos completely from power and turn back on and setup again through firestick but sometimes that doesn’t work either. Looking for suggestions on how to fix this. Please advice. Thanks.
If I clear my Recently Played entries (to avoid issues with old data) and play something from my Favorites, an Amazon Station, it plays with no problem. If I then try to play it from the Recently Played list it fails.Add this to my earlier topic on Recently Played issues / desires.https://en.community.sonos.com/controllers-and-music-services-228995/feature-request-remove-recently-played-entries-6930500
My goodness add ing music so that Sonos can play it is NASTYThe last time I saw something this complex was when the OS was Unix 5.4.Is Sonos really this bad?A way to be able to play music on music speakers is really really complex, I have a large (ish) library collected over decades. And Sonos a Music Speaker company really does not want users to well play music. It has taken several hours to figure out how to just point the MacOS Sonos app at the local Music folder.Wow these developers weren’t on drugs, which is what I assumed, they are vindictive, nasty people who hate people who like music, their reason d’être is to punish people and to discourage people.Never have I encountered such anti user programming, some ideas for improvement, the path to the library must be in hexadecimal using java syntax.Come guys there is so much more potential to hate on your customer base.Keep trying you will get there!!The question is what more can you put into your product to demonstrate your hate for t
Just curious to hear if folks here use Trueplay or turn it off?Every situation is different for every room, every person’s ears. But for me, I’ve come to turn Trueplay off as it seems be hindrance to sound quality than tuning and keeping it. Night and day difference. I might change mind later. But sounds more detailed and full with no Trueplay for me.Anyone else find the sound much better with or without Trueplay?
I recently bought a Ray to replace the dying iPod my husband had plugged into a Bose dock. I was told he could stream music ripped from CDs that had been loaded onto his cell phone but apparently that’s only the case for an apple phone. We are an android family. I simply want to access the 28 GB music library we have loaded on our computer in the living room on our ray. I don’t want to keep the computer on. I I don’t know that I necessarily want an NAS as I don’t want other files loaded. Just our music. I’ve read about the various NAS drives and am this close to buying a Synology 2-Bay DiskStation DS223j (Diskless) but I know somewhere in my research I read that an external drive plugged into our router (which does allow for the indexing needed) might be easier/less overkill for a music library of our size? Can someone point me in the direction on making this decision?
For years been looking up answers why my SL one left surround sound keeps disconnecting. Did all the troubling shooting, unplug, reset, move the speakers closer, get a WiFi boosters. I may figured out a partial solution. I haven’t added the Apple Music account and haven’t lost the speaker since. So reboot the system and don’t add the Apple Music.
I received my Certified Refurbished Beam (Gen 2) on Friday, unpacked it, and from the first launch the speaker keeps disconnecting once in a while and the flashing white light appears. The speaker dissapears from the app, and the sound that was playing lags and stutters until it connects again. I have tried various troubleshooting steps, from configuring the router and separating 2.4GHz and 5GHz, to factory resetting the Beam, to trying to configure it on a different device. I've been on the support chats two times, today in a different country than mine since the chat for my country is not available today, and at the end of it after trying more fixes (including ethernet to router connection which also kept disconnecting once in a while), I've been referred to contact the phone line with the case number they gave me for further help, since they have more tools at their disposal than the chat. After the chat I realized that in my country there's no cell phone number for Sonos so I can't
Just awful. Can't wait to stop using it. Pos
Roam won't charge and nothing happens after I hold the power button down for 20+ seconds. But when plugged in, the red light is on. The battery is not chaging when plugged in. What do I do?
Hi I was recently conned buying what I thought was a new Sonos soundbar on marketplace .. it looked like the box was unopened however a month later I opened it to find it doesn’t work .. it won’t power up . I know without looking it’s hard to tell if it’s worth trying to fix .. I’ve already lost $350 so don’t want to get hit up for that again . Should I just accept defeat ? Is it worth anything to anyone ?
