Ignore "the" when sorting
At the moment, iTunes is the only app I’ve seen that ignores the first “The” in names of bands and albums. Can’t Sonos do the same?BThe BeatlesFThe Future Sound of LondonUThe UndertonesCorrect. TThe Beatles The Future Sound of London The UndertonesIncorrect. I shouldn’t have to rename everything to something like “Beatles, The” to get it to show correctly. Also, I don’t know if Sonos can be made to read Apple’s sorting tag, or adopt similar, so artists are sorted by the correct letter - Lionel Richie should come under “R”, not “L”.
Sonos Music Search
Search function is not working properly. If I search for an Artist and click on an album I used to then see a list of all tracks and could then create a playlist or just play songs easily. Now it is no longer letting me see tracks within artists or albums. I assume I have missed something I need to do or some additional update as this is dreadful. I use Amazon Music as streaming service. Thanks
S2 (15.2) won't open days after updating/using
I’ve got a Sonos Play 5 (2nd generation) and I use the S2 app on my MacBook Pro. I updated it recently to 15.2 with no issues. Several days later of using it, the app unexpectedly quit and won’t reopen. I’ve tried deleting the app and reinstalling it - no change. Safeboot and a test user account have no impact. I’ve even tried to install the S1 app but it too crashes upon launch.I understand that 15.2 no longer supports El Capitan (I’m unable to upgrade the macos) but interestingly enough the S1 app has also been updated and it too no longer supports my computer. Is there a link to go back to the previous S2 app version? I’d simply disable automatic updates and that could work.
Sonos Not Recognizing Music Folder
I installed the S1 Controller on my PC and app on my phone. I’ve set up my Play 5’s but cannot get the controller to recognize the music folder on the PC. I keep getting a reoccurring message that the “Home-PC” cannot be found. That was the name of a previous PC but not the current one. Any suggestions on how to get the controller to recognize the new PC? Thank you in advance for any information provided.Where the music files are locatedError message received
Can’t log in but SONOS is playing from husband’s iPhone
My app won’t let me log in. All greyed out saying can’t connect to system. However, speaker is playing music (but even when it’s not), my husband has access to account and SONOS speaker and app works fine for him. In other words the speaker is connected to WiFi and can play though husband’s iPhone app. I have deleted my app and tried again but app thinks I’m trying to connect a speaker to the system. How can I log into the already existing account which we’ve used since we bought out first generation speakers? How can you troubleshoot if you can’t even log in?
Unable to Add Music Service to App
I am trying to add a music service to my Sonos App. However, when I go to the Services and Voice tab none of the already added services allow me to click on them. See the attached image as everything has the text in a light color. Also, if I click on anything I get the error shown in the attached image as well. Anyone know what to do to fix this?
iOS S1 app is prompting me to open S2 so I can't access my S1 device
I upgraded most of my household to S2 devices back in Feb 2023. I kept one S1 zone player active for my garage that I controlled using the S1 mobile app on my iPhone. This worked fine for months, but in the past week, the S1 mobile app prompts me to Use the Sonos S2 app, and I’m not clear what changed or what I need to do.Did the S2 software change now support control over S1 devices? I think I might need to factory reset my S1 device, but not sure. Thanks for your help.
Earlier vesions of S2 Android app
I have a problem with my current S2 15.4 (auto-updated) will no longer support Android ‘On This Device’ feature to play music from an SD card. I understand from (a now closed thread) that the solution is to downgrade the app to an elier version. i.e. 12.0.6. Where do i find this version of the app please?
Sonos has become so terrible
I’m close to just binning my Sonos speakers. What is going on at this company, that everything has become so terrible? So recently all my music services became inaccessible on the app, except Bandcamp and Soundcloud. Apple Music, Amazon music, Sirius XM, Pandora, would all fail to load. This has been going on for a while, and reauthorizing did nothing. So I decided to reset my speaker, uninstall and reinstall the app, and try start over. Except after entering my email in the app, I get ‘Something went wrong. Make sure your mobile device is connected to the internet and try again’. It is connected to the internet (and I tried from both ipad and iphone). So now my speaker is just a useless block. Some years back I used to eulogize Sonos and Synology as the two companies that make tech that made my life both better and simpler; Sonos has really fallen from grace since then.
Song not encoded correctly after Spatial update
Since the update for spatial audio was released the not encoded error is happening most of the time. This only happens when using Apple Music via the Sonos app and is not just limited to the Era 300s. Tracks that have been uploaded using the iTunes Match service display the error but other songs won’t play either despite everything being fine before. I can get around this playing via Airplay or deleting the tracks from my library and adding them again from Apple Music. This isn’t an ideal fix though as I have lots of music that isn’t available on Apple Music. I also have 100s of playlists and I can’t do this to every one. I’ve tried all the troubleshooting tips that I’ve read and nothing has worked. This is obviously an error caused by the new spatial audio music update; Apple and Sonos need to get together to fix this because it’s ruining the Sonos experience.
Iphone not connecting to sonos
Hi I have a problem logging onto Sonos from my iPhone - I get “something went wrong. Make sure your mobile device is connected to the internet and try again”. My iPhone is connected to the internet.I can use my phone to play some of the free services such as radio, however when I try browsing Deezer i get the error “unable to browse music - there was a problem connecting to Deezer.Other devices in our house are fine - they can operate Sonos as usual - the problem is specific to my app/phone (on the latest IOS and app has been deleted/reinstall). Please help!!
Gapless playback issues after 15.2 update
Is anyone else having issues with Gapless playback after updating to 15.2? Scenario:I have been using a loopable track on Apple Music via the built in Sonos player to play sleep sounds every night for years. This created a seamless sound with Gapless playback. Problem:After the update to 15.2, there is a distinct gap between the end of the track and the beginning of the repeat making the feature unusable for sleep sounds. Fix NeededRestore previous function to allow Gapless playback on looped tracks.and/or Allow reverting to a previous firmware(Ideally allowing to revert by atleast two firmware revisions to allow people to experiment and see if a new update has fixed a previously experienced bug)
Music Library connection fails when speakers on Sonos Net
I recently changed all of my Sonos speakers to a separate Sonos Net instead of direct WiFi (one speaker with a wired Ethernet connection). This was because Sonos still seems to have issues with mesh WiFi networks - speakers randomly disappear from the list, especially if the controlling phone moves from on mesh node to another. This worked well to stabilise Sonos (apart from Roam, which unfortunately does not support Sonos Net).Unfortunately, although the Sonos system now works better for streaming, this seems to have killed access to my local music library on a Synology NAS. It seems that the music library configuration can’t cope with the speaker and library not being on the same subnet. Unplugging the Ethernet cable to revert the speakers to WiFi connection brought the library back online immediately. Is this an issue that Sonos are aware of? I seem to be stuck in a no win situation here - either no music library access, or accepting that sometimes not all my speakers will be v
Sonos controller not working after moving music files
I recently changed the location of my music files on my PC (Windows 10) to free up space on my C drive.iTunes is working fine, having recognized the new location of the files, and repopulated the playlists etc from new folder. The sonos app, however, refuses to see the files in their new location, despite deleting app, resetting app, reinstalling app, deleting music folders (under music library settings) and adding them again.I don't understand why when I ask app to update music libraries (which includes the iTunes playlists which iTunes has found in their new location), that sonos says that the files can not be found, or duplicates playlists without either the original or duplicate actually working. And why, even when I reset app, delete it, reinstall it, it still has a memory of old music libraries that no longer exist?Has anyone had success in shifting the location of their files and then getting Sonos to continue to work again?
Sonos Connect can no longer play music after Synology SMB update
My Sonos Connect can no longer play any music following an update to the SMB package on my Synology drive. I’ve followed the guides about setting up the appropriate SMB1 access allowing NTLM access, but when I try and connect, I just get “access denied” even though my S2 products are pointed at the same share. The NAS logs show the S1 product connecting but the Sonos app is throwing the error. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have a solution?
Sonos S1 app denied access to new Synology NAS
I have a new Synology NAS on a Mac and am attempting to set up an older Sonos system running the S1 app. I have setup SMB1 (and understand the security risk) and NTLMv1 (same). I am using the path \\NAS_IP_ Address\music (and have tried \\NAS_IP_ Address\music\media) and the correct name and password. I keep getting an access denied error from the Sonos app. I recall, but cannot find, and article from Sonos that talked about setting up Sonos as a user. I don’t see what this would do for me. Any advice?
