I’m running MacOS 26.6.1_Apple Silicon_MacMini M4

Today I had issues loading the Sonos MacOS App. The solution this time was

  • System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network > Sonos permission off/on.

Typically one or more of the below works:

  1. System Settings > Network > Firewall > Options > Sonos > Allow incoming connections off/on
  2. System Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services off/on
  3. System Settings > Privacy & Security > App Management > off/on

So now it seems there is a fourth option in the mix. At least until MacOS 27.X 😂

Enjoy your Sonos!

Apple is notorious at this point for their issues with the ‘Location Services’ implementation. @controlav  has posted about it many, many times. At this point, it’s a given that this should be the first step for any Apple user.

MacOS 27 beta 4 has broken this option entirely: Apple just keep on giving with this damn thing.

I understand the frustration with the Sonos MacOS Desktop App. However, takings emotions out of the equation as it relates to Sonos I believe every company has the right to decide thier own destiny.

Apple for a long time has wanted to control every aspect of their products. Apple Silicon has been out for five (5) generations. It’s not like Sonos was caught off guard. It was the next step for Apple to remove Intel and before that AMD processors from their computers.

Apple has never been a mainstream stream computing company. In the beginning (for business) they were used primarily in education settings. Apple later moved into CAD applications for business and finally into the consumer market.

Apple computers have always been a niche product compared to intel (Microsoft/Windows) based computers. Having used Windows since eight inch floppies were the program media through the download era of today my preference is MacOS.

To close this out as this debate can go on forever. Debating most likely will not change Sonos’s direction to shutter the Desktop App which started sometime ago. Looping back Sonos knew Apple was going to change how Intel based apps interacted with Silicon. IMHO Apple gets a pass on this and the onus falls on Sonos to right-the-ship regarding the desktop MacOS app (if they choose to do so).

This reply is surely to the wrong thread @AjTrek1 ? This thread is about the mess of the “Local Network” permission, your reply seems Apple Silicon Desktop related.
