Youtube Music app to play on Sonos App

With a free YouTube Music account in Italy, using an Android phone, can I add YouTube Music to the Sonos app and play music directly through a Sonos speaker without keeping the YouTube Music app open on my phone? 

I am using a free YouTube Music account (not YouTube Music Premium) in Italy on an Android phone. If I add YouTube Music as a music service in the Sonos app, will I be able to browse my library, search for artists and songs, and play music directly on a Sonos speaker over Wi-Fi, without leaving the YouTube Music app running in the background on my phone?"

You can add a YouTube Music Free or YouTube Music Premium account to Sonos. YouTube Music Free users can access their uploaded songs and albums on Sonos, while Premium users can access all features listed above.

 

YouTube Music Free accounts are limited to their own uploaded content.  For all other features, a YouTube Music Premium account is required.

The YouTube Music add-in is available for YouTube Music free accounts. You don’t need the YouTube Music app running to use the Sonos add-in service.

That is an en-us link, but selecting Italy as the country shows that it’s available. Here’s what it says about features and supported plans:

You can add a YouTube Music Free or YouTube Music Premium account to Sonos. YouTube Music Free users can access their uploaded songs and albums on Sonos, while Premium users can access all features listed above.

YouTube Music offers the standard 1 month free trial with a form of payment. Users are eligible if they have not used YouTube Music or YouTube Premium trial within the past 12 months.

    Thanks for your answer. 
    But I have also another question, related to what it happears in the page u linked before,  “Services on Sonos” for Italy services.
    I think it is good to clarify the what does it mean about the term "uploaded songs".
    I have never uploaded my own music files (such as MP3 files) to YouTube Music.
    I simply use the standard YouTube Music Free service:

    • I search for artists and songs from the public YouTube Music catalog.
    • I listen to albums and playlists available on YouTube Music.
    • I also use my own playlists created within YouTube Music.

    With this type of account, can I browse and play the public YouTube Music catalog directly from the Sonos app over Wi-Fi, without keeping the YouTube Music app open on my Android phone?

    Or are YouTube Music Free users limited to playing only their own uploaded music files?
    Sorry but I have to clarify this point, before buying the Sonos Product

    Unfortunately, I don’t use YouTube Music, so I’m just going by what I read here. Maybe someone using YouTube Music with a free account can answer all your questions.

    You do not need the YouTube Music app open to use the addon service in Sonos. In the Sonos controller, you tell the speaker what to play, and it retrieves and streams directly from the YouTube Music servers. You don’t even need to keep the Sonos Controller app open, if you don’t want to.

    YouTube Music allows you to upload your music to their servers. If you do that, those songs would be available to play in the Sonos YouTube Music addon service. You wouldn’t be limited to playing your own uploaded music though. I don’t know if your playlists and search are available in Sonos with the free account. Sorry. Hopefully, someone will reply that does know.

      Thanks again for your answer.
      I will wait until someone could give me the exactly answer to this behavior of the app YoutubeMusic with free account deployed on Sonos app, before to buy the product, hopefully anyone has same question like me, and know an answer.

          Wow. Pretty much makes it useless on Sonos then. I haven’t used it since they discontinued google music.

            Basically the same functionality as the free Google Music account.  Gives you access to your own uploaded music library.
