wpfw 89.3 doesn’t play

I see someone posted on this group that WPFW 89.3 Pacifica Jazz & Justice does not play over Sonos speakers. I continue to have this problem despite trying the usual suspect- deleting as favorite, searching the radio services, etc. hitting to arrow play just brings up an error message almost instantly. Trying to play from AirPlay Apple device but not working yet. This started about a year ago when a mouse somehow destroyed the station transmitter causing emergency repairs, but doesn’t make sense to think this would cut the stream. I have contacted the station, but no response. Thinking of maybe adding something like a Trivoli table radio to connect to a speaker, but this sounds a little expensive for just one station.

What radio aggregator are you using, or are you using a direct url?

Mind you if the station isn’t getting back to you, there may not be a stream to play digitally on any device.

Currently WPFW shows up in both SonosRadio & MyTuner. They went dead at least 9 months ago. WPFW is a Pacifica station which refuses corporate funding, but I doubt there would be some kind of money color issue that cut off a service somehow. It I stream it on my computer or cell phone directly the internet app works just fine & I can play it through a Bose Bluetooth speaker & hope no one tries to call me on my cell phone, but I rather have it on the Sonos speakers.

If you have a direct url that works then you can add it to your Sonos system and play it as a radio station, either using the S1 desktop app or “Phonos Ultimate” if on S2.

It helps, but I don’t have time to polish. Bought S2 on Apple Store & put it on iPad. Will need to look into it, as it only plays WPFW on my speakers & drop it, so I need to hitvrestart arrow. However progress after a year helps.

I contacted WPFW station manager about 6 months ago & she relatera it to the engineer. Since it is probably outside the WPFW system boundaruies i didn’t expect a response unless the engineer followed sonos

It sure seems like an issue with the station providing a stream, either to MyTuner and/or Sonos Radio (who I think uses TuneIn, but could be mistaken). If the station is unwilling to provide/troubleshoot anything regarding a streaming source other than their own, you’re going to need to set it up using the data in the setting up an internet radio station FAQ. None of the streaming companies, including Sonos, have any leverage to ‘force’ the station to provide anything. And given their reticence for receiving any monies from corporations, it’s somewhat unsurprising that they don’t care. And unfortunately, Sonos has no AM/FM electronics inside them, to receive that sort of data, they rely on streaming.. some (read newer) Sonos devices can accept a Bluetooth signal (or AirPlay2) signal from your devices, and some of those can share that signal across the rest of your Sonos system.
