Controllers and Music services

We just updated the app and the system is defaulting to one speaker after each use. I connected with Sonos help via chat and they indicated some of the speakers needed to have operating software update. Did that and still nothing changed re defaulting to one speaker after using it. Also now once setting up an other “rooms” to play from when I look at the App it is indicating that it is playing on a different speaker than I requested 

Updates and new apps are meant to add value not go back. Why have you done this it adds no value I cannot save to a playlist or do many things I used to it’s a nail in the Sonos coffin 

I have an old Apple Time Capsule device which I use as a target for Time Machine backups. I have also used it at NAS and placed my audio files in a separate folder. In the past this arrangement has worked well. Now that I have updated my Sonos system to the current version I can no longer see this folder in my music library. I don’t see a way to add it on the iPhone app, and using the Mac app i get this error:Unable to add the shared folder to your Music Library (913).Has support for AFP been removed from the current Sonos apps? If not, how do I reestablish the shared folder access I had in the earlier versions?

Is is possible that the controller app more or less works on android, and doesn’t work at all on ios? That’s my experience.

“Something went wrong. Try again.” Seems to be the only thing the Sonos app does anymore. I see that comment every time I try to play something, no matter if it is Apple Music or Sirius, etc. I have given up on the app and just do it directly from whatever music app I want to the speakers. I plan to take a break trying and try again after three or so more updates to the app.I also have been speaking to someone on the Sonos help, and after a few diagnostic tests all they could say is do a factory reset of all of my speakers? Seriously!?! 😖

The app was working the other day but this morning, I can't sign the "terms of use agreement". It's grayed out for all the options. This new app leaves a lot to be desired! 

I’m curious to know how the web app hosted at play.sonos.com is able to make the speakers I have play, given that I have a firewall completely blocking inbound connections.Like others, I want to reduce the possibility of a bad actor exploiting my network, so I’d like to control my Sonos system exclusively from within my local network.So, what do I need to do to configure either the sonos app or my firewall to prevent external control of my devices? Thanks!

Servcie has stopped this morning. Instead there has been a continuous “Welcome to ITuines” played every few seconds. Switched it off for 10+ seconds, now totally dead.

Hi all,I have seen a number of conversations regarding SMB protocols and SMBv1 recently being disabled for S2 users (while being retained for S1 users). We are down in the weeds here, but I have just discovered that it is possible to query SMB version from a Windows PC. This may help some people who are unsure which protocol their NAS drive supports.I am on Windows 10. You have to run Windows PowerShell as an Administrator.Then use the command Get-SmbConnection -server x.x.x.x | fl where x.x.x.x represents the local IP address of the device, in my case an old Western Digital MYBOOKLIVE NAS drive.I thought my NAS was locked to SMBv1, and there’s no way to change it.But the query returns….ServerName : x.x.x.xShareName  : PublicUserName   : DESKTOP-******\*****Credential : MicrosoftAccount\email address was here

updated to the new app version 80.02.04 yesterday. After the update, the app prompted for another update, which consistently results in error code 30.Today, I tried the following troubleshooting steps:    •    Performing a factory reset    •    Connecting via an Ethernet cable    •    Resetting my router    •    Reinstalling the app    •    Connecting using a mobile hotspot    •    Using different devices for the update (both iOS and Android)    •    Taking my Arc to the office and connecting to the company WiFi    •    Downloading the old version of the appUnfortunately, none of these steps have resolved the issue.I feel like I’ve tried everything possible and I’m feeling quite desperate. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

How the hell can Sonos be so stupid!! This app is so bad a two year old could do a better job!!! I will now post on every site “don’t buy Sonos “ totally unreliable, constant crashes! Loss of products !!!! I have over 20 and I have lost two days of my life trying to get them playing properly!!!!! the group that designed the app should go and find a stone to crawl under !!! why did they touch it???why can’t I go back to the old app!!!!  for sale loads of Sonos crap!!

I’m holding back from updating my Android controllers and Sonos firmware until some more features are restored but while I wait I thought I’d give the desktop app a try. I’m running the play.sonos.com as both a Chrome tab and a desktop app.  Currently, every time I make a change (e.g. group/ungroup zones) I have to manually refresh the tab/app before the change is reflected.  Similarly, if I make a change in the Android app I have to manually refresh the desktop app/tab for the change to appear. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I have a mini sub (got rid of the old sub) and I typically have it turned off out of respect for my neighbors.  When I decide to turn the sub on or off there are about 7 or 8 taps/steps I need to go through to achieve that.  It’s not so much the taps but more about remembering the mapping to get there each and every time. So here is my suggestion….. and Its crystal clear in the image below that I created for you.  Include the sub at the bottom of the output selector page and even though it doesn’t have a volume you could use the slider to adjust the amount of bass.  Plus I can turn it on or off RIGHT THERE!!!!  No more 8 steps to turn on and then another 8 steps to turn it off.  I just saved your customer 16 steps.You can’t make it any

Suddenly I am seeing adverts for new Sonos products IN THE MIDDLE OF THE APP WHICH SHOULD ONLY BE CONTROLLING MY SYSTEM!Sorry for the Donald Trump-like CAPITALS, but I really wanted to shout it out loud enough for Sonos directors to hear.

First, i add my voice to the chorus.  A few days ago i had a wonderful Sonos systemt working perfectly for YEARS and the software updated and now i have NOTHING.  I, along with many an FURIOUS.I cannot acces any of the stored music i have stored on a mac at home that serves all my Sonos devices.  I can access some online services ..but the new all really horrbile.I tried to update from Itunes and it tells me i do not have permissions.  I am not sure which itunes folder i used before, becasue, of course all those settings were lost when the sustem updates.   Where does Ituens store its local music?  I dont see a director called /sonosWhere do i set permissions to get itunes ..   this worked perfectly a week ago ..I woudl appreciate anyones suggestions. Tom

I think the new app has no ability to update your music library?I have been using a non-updated controller on my windows machine to actually play music. But now it has greyed out “update music library”. Although it still lets me access it just fine.Is “update music library” disabled in the windows controller because it wants to update the controller version? If so, will it update to a new version that also doesn’t work? Does Sonospad have the ability to do this?How does one add music to the system while waiting for a new working controller app to come out?Is it possible to have side-by-side installs of two versions on my PC?

Searching in the new app is still broken when searching Yousee musik. In the old app I could switch to classic search  I can browse the Yousee musik service. I have tried to delete and add the service again with no luck  I hope you will look into this problem

I have looked at the new app roadmap and cannot see any mention of restoring local playlist management. Why not?

How can I instantly mute my speakers?

Hello,why recently played doesn’t work at all? Only endlessly rotation circle..., why missing logos of radio stations (myTuner Radio) in Favorites. Both in the most recent update of S2 app (the same issue on iPad and iPhone (ios17). Can you fix it?

sonos can not add a music folder

Since new sonos app, I noticed that Apple Lossless logo doesn’t appear and doesn’t work when you are using Playbar o Play 1. It only work with the latest products such as Ray or One SL. The volume is poor and the audio quality is minimum. Once you only use the new products and erase Playbar and Play 1 from the listening, Apple lossless logo appear again and the sound grows. Insane! Before the new app everything worked well and sound was outstanding. I am just hoping this is not a maneuver to get rid of old speakers and be forced to get the new ones. 

I’m finding the new app very buggy regarding music library access. The new app (unlike the old) wont play most content from the music library shared from my PC, but it can find the library and display the content (albums).  I then press play, and it just spins or says “something went wrong”. Also, certain content works - most doesn’t. And weirdly, via the new Sonos WEB app I can play all content from my music library (and then control it via the new iOS app). So the browser on my iPad can get to the content and play it, where my iOS iPad app can’t play that same music library content. But once it is playing via the web app, I can control it in the iOS app.But this is a clunky workaround to say the least.Anyone have a fix?

When the speakers connect, they’re great. But when they don’t, I spend too much time, much unsuccessful, trying to connect them. And it is a common issue. Getting help requires payment even though it is Sonos’s fault. Sonos seems to invest everything into speaker performance and no in the connection software. With all these problems, is there a class action?
