Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

Thanks Sonos for creating the API so we can have some fun with it! I refinished an antique radio cabinet I found. Added a little bit of electronics and a tablet. Wrote some software and now it's controlling a bunch of Sonos speakers in a small Inn. More pics (not great but you get the idea): https://1drv.ms/f/s!Avh-XKvxVYXSjc9HmZT6rqhiGxCglg Cheers! Pat Shaw
It often happens to me to come back home and willing to send to SONOS the song I'm currently listening on my iPhone through Apple Music. For the moment, the only solution I know is to open the SONOS app and search for that particular song. Would it be great to have the possibility to send to SONOS the song currently playing on iPhone Music app? I'm not talking here about AirPlay 2 support (which I know is coming), but rather a way for the SONOS app to be aware of the song currently playing in the iPhone music app, in order to propose a shortcut to quickly play it on the SONOS system.
I can't for the life of me figure out how to play different streams in different room on the latest update to the Android app. I can remove a stream from the list or add it but I can't choose to have a different stream playing like before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Like Will and Lyra, in Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy, I have the power to pass between parallel universes. I have just returned from one that is identical to our own except for one thing. What we call v8 of the Sonos app was v7 there, and vice versa. Here is a post I read on the Sonos forum. “SONOS WHAT WERE YOU THINKING ABOUT!!?? I HATE the new app. Where has our lovely light, bright app gone? The new one is so dark and depressing. Every time I open it I feel like committing suicide. As to the new Favourites structure, well there isn’t any. It was logical to have the different types separated out as they were in My Sonos. Now my Favourite playlists are jumbled in with radio stations and songs etc etc. WTF? Who goes looking for a playlist then decides to put on a radio station? You have created chaos out of order. But the worst crime of all is the scrapping of the Navigation bar. Whether I wanted to select a room, browse my sources, search for music,
I am running OS X Yosemite 10.10.4 on my Mac. In Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall > Firewall Options, I have the following entry that allows incoming connections for Sonos: However, every time that I start the Sonos Controller app, I get this message asking if I want Sonos to accept incoming connections. How can I prevent this message from appearing every time? Thanks
Hi all, I purchased a house with a great multi-room Sonos system, but I found the system is registered to the previous owner. Is there a way I can change this or do I need to chase the previous owner and have him 'un-register'?
I know it's a pipe dream but if you took the new Amazon Echo and used it to control Sonos, that would be unbelievable awesome.
My Sonos app could not find the bridge or the Play 3 so I had to reset and when I added them again, all my music was gone. For the last 6 months I had been creating Sonos Playlists based on Spotify? Please help
I am able to play back podcasts from either my computer or from the device itself using sonos software. But I would like to be able to play them at x1.5 or x2.0 speed so that I can get through them faster. Is there anyway to do with Sonos software? I have Sonos on my Windows7 device and on iPad and iPod Touch and iPad mini. Right now, I have one sonos speaker and one connect:amp input from a receiver attached to speakers.
My volume control is very sensitive and plays our system at a low level, making adjustments up very loud [to us]. Is there a master control for the system or controllers [Android & PC]?
Came back to check on the announcements thread about the new app and it has been deleted. My last post was very critical but spot on. And still no response on anything except "we're working on it". No "Sorry for making the app so blinding white that some people cannot use it". I expect I'll be banned for expressing my frustration and opinions. I am seriously unhappy with Sonos and their customer service right now. Steve
Hello All. Recently applied the new latest update for the Sonos Desktop app. All works, and having no problems. However, it appears that the old under the covers utility, the stats app is dead ? If I run the command : http://192.168.1.XXX:1400/status I used to get a full listing of options, and was able to check on how many track in the library etc. Which was useful to see how things were going after I reconfigure the archive. Now however, I get very few of the options I used to. Is there a new command to run, or, do I actually have a problem ? Ta Mark
I have Sonos Play:5's in my living room, foyer, kitchen, master bathroom, master bedroom, exercise room, and upstairs. I have a Connect:amp that feeds the speakers on my patio. In my office, I have 2 Play:3's and a sub. I wish Sonos would allow a way to set base volumes on certain rooms. For instance, if I put the Play:5's at the same volume, everything sounds the same. However, if I use the master volume to adjust all speakers (including my office) when playing as a group, the office speakers are always overpowering because of the sub. I've adjusted the sub, but I would like to adjust everything because even the Play:3's seem loud in my office (because of the smaller room). Sonos should allow users to set volume controls (like -3 for my office) so one volume can be set in group/party mode and all speakers sound about the same as far as volume goes. I'm about to install a Playbar and some Play:1's and I can only imagine the Playbar and Sub will be louder than the others
Hi - I'm in the new app and I want to search for a radio station by name. When I click search it takes me through to Spotify. Anyone solved this?
I received the privacy statement email teasing Alexa integration and I am really excited for that functionality to become available. However, I have a question around how streaming services like Apple Music fits into this. I am an Apple Music subscriber, and it is compatible with Sonos but not currently available with Amazon Echo. Will I be able use Apple Music via voice control or will I have to switch to a service that works with both Sonos and Echo like Spotify?
I just installed the skill set called MySpeaker and it works pretty well controlling my Sonos System. Anyone else using it ?
Have you considered being able to link phone audio to the sonos speakers to be used for conference calls. Idea similar to connecting to Bluetooth in car etc. A quick software patch would be able to take care of this pretty quickly. Note: I'm not talking about the line in option. Just simple software solution. Thanks.
Hi, Has anyone noticed a change in sound quality after upgrading to v8.1 - asking specifically about the Connect ZPs. I have a new laptop and was forced to upgrade when I installed the desktop app. In the past I did not notice any sound quality change but this time I did. I was listening to music when I performed the upgrade; naturally it interrupted the playback and when I restarted I immediately noticed a change. I have two Connect ZPs hooked up in two separates-systems for the last 10 years and so I'm very familiar how both systems performed and sounded. I noticed the gain dropped and tonality diminished. Anybody experienced the same thing? Thanks.
I have a Sonos Controller CR200 unable to connect to a Sonos component.... the exact error message I get is "The controller was unable to connect to a Sonos component. Please try again. (1) ".. I already ran the Diagnostic report, confirmation number is: 7091539.... please help!
FWIW, I have attempted to produce a basic user guide to the version 8 app. It is at the link below, as attaching documents seems to be impossible on the forum. I offer it, poor as it may be, in a spirit of helpfulness. There have been valid criticisms of aspects of v8, and there have been some totally unjustified ones. I find the app easy to use so maybe I can convey something of use. Or maybe not. I don't want to debate the merits of the app on this thread. Nor do I want to hear that an app should be magically, intuitively used without the need for a word of guidance or any familiarisation. Please save that for other threads and treat this as an effort to help, whether it succeeds or not. The guide is completely unofficial and you use it at your own risk! I am happy to receive constructive suggestions for improvement or corrections. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5LY6yD3BW7adkstOHVDVzZUMUE/view?usp=sharing
This new update today - 8.0 (October 5, 2017) was updated on both my iphone and iTouch iPod without my consent. Two questions: 1) Does anyone know how I can revert to the previous version to 8.0, and 2) How do I set Sonos to let me decide whether I want a new update? I brought up Sonos this morning with the newly installed software and had no choice as it was already done.
Hi, I just wanted to provide some feedback about the new app. Honestly, I really do not like it. I find it confusing, and non-intuitive. The old app was by far easier to use. I specifically don't like the Songs Favorites, or lack of it. When I go to "my sonos", it only shows me some random favorites. Not all my favorites. I don't see any way to control this. When I click edit, it tells me to drag my stations in the order I want, but it doesn't show me any stations. Just very unclear and doesn't seem to work right. Also, the way that the room selection at the bottom in red shows, is not clear. I used to be able to select the room(s) in a much easier way. Lastly, there should be an option for Alexa NOT to mute Sonos for every Alexa request.
I cannot stand the new update!! The function to automatically play the whole album is stupid. What's worse is it overwrites the queue that was already there!!! So unless you save your queues every time you add a song you risk losing music!! My memory isn't the best, I add a song I like, accidently wipe the queue and can't remember the song!!! I know you can add individual songs by holding down but it's easy to fuck up!!!! It's a stupid update, I would prefer it to revert to the old system, change for the sake of it is pointless!!! A solution would be to have a history of every song played in reverse order somewhere!! Is that not possible???? Rant over!!!! Peace
I have struggled over the years with my Sonos system and it's intermittent on/off the network. So, I finally re-configured network to be 100% on my WiFi with a LinkSys net extender (using same SSID). It's stable now...BUT 1) My Sonos controller (not a phone) no longer works because it needs to communicate through a bridge; correct? But, using a bridge means I have to go back to a private SonosNet; correct? 2) So, my options are to continue using Android phones/tablet to run the system (wife likes the old controller) or to migrate to voice-control (Amazon Echo) or other controller (waiting for a Flipp).... I think that voice-control may be her best bet....thoughts?
Is there a way to see the user history for my sonos?
