I’m doing a small audio project for a local gym. They have all of the equipment they need to play music during their workouts. The way they have it set up to play is they have a Sonos Connect connected directly to a speaker system. They use their Samsung Galaxy Android tablet to control the music to play using the Sonos app. The Sonos Connect is wired to the router that provides access to the internet for them. They use either Spotify or Apple Music as the source of the music. When the internet goes down or gets spotty, they can’t play music and if that happens during a workout, it’s a big problem. What I’m planning to suggest to them is that we get some sort of local source of music they can use as a backup. Something like an external drive that can be connected to the Sonos Connect directly with some MP3s on it. Of course they wouldn’t have a big variety of music on their backup system and they’d have to buy the music that goes there, which are two downsides. Is this a good (or maybe t
Hopefully other Telus Wifi users will find this post helpful and maybe share my pain. Telus upgraded my router to the white Arcadyan router that looks like a trashcan. The router’s performance is good, but Sonos is unstable, especially when trying to Airplay content to the speakers. I understood that Sonos speakers use the 2.4GHz to play media content, but they also use the 5GHz band for operational tasks (inter-speaker communications). When logged into my router’s management GUI I can see the speakers are connected to my Wifi network. However, what I didn’t realize, and thankfully what a Sonos support call confirmed, was that the speakers were locked to the 5GHz network. When I reconnected my speakers to the new Telus network they initially connected to the network on the 5GHz band. The Arcadyan router broadcasts the same network name for both frequency bands, and it decides which device is assigned to which network band (2.4 or 5GHz). You can turn off specific bands in the admin inte
Seems pretty simple but I’m not finding the answer.I have a Sonos Amp(firmware current), I have 4 external speakers connected to it and work just fine. I want to add the an outdoor sub. I have a OSD Forza 10 10" Outdoor Subwoofer with 300W of Power and High-Impact Molded Enclosure, IP66-rated Weather-Resistant. I;m pretty certain the SONOS AMP doesn’t power a sub, I will need an external amp, so I purchased a Nobsound G2 PRO Hi-Fi 300W Subwoofer Power Amplifier Mono Channel Class D SUB Audio Amp. I used an RCA Y cable from the SONOS Amp to the Nobsound, but no Sub output. Any suggestions other than buying an $800 sonos sub? I want this one, it is outdoor and works great off my Onkyo stereo. Sad this is so complicated with Sonos.
I recently purchased a new Amp and wired speakers and ethernet wired to my network hub in the house. My TV as well as other electronics are also attached to this network hub. My TV is nowhere near this new AMP, so an HDMI connection is not practical. Occasionally it would be nice to broadcast the sound from the TV to speakers in other rooms. Since everything is network connected (ethernet), is there a way to get TV sound from these speakers? thx
We are wiring a new home with Sonos ceiling speakers in each room powered by Sonos Amps. We would like to have in the wall rotary volume knobs to control the volume for each Room/Amp. We have used Sonos products since Gen 1, this is our first whole home speaker setup and my wife prefers to control the volume from a wall switch than going to the app each time. Thanks For Your Help & Have Great Day !
I am building a new home. In our great room we will have a frame TV, sonos amp and 6 architectural in ceiling speakers. 2 of the speakers will be in the kitchen and I want to be able to control the volume of the kitchen speakers separately from the other 4. Sonos says that typically 4 speakers are used per amp but if you use Sonos Architectural speakers (8 ohms) u can use 6, but then they need to be wired in parallel. My question is: can I use a simple wall-mounted volume control dial to control the volume of the two kitchen speakers?
I have recently been having issues with very low audio levels from my Sonos Connect which plays through speakers via a tuner (at the highest volumes on Sonos and the tuner I could just barely hear music from my speakers). After some trouble-shooting (including using the loop-through method suggested in support), I isolated the problem as a failure in the RCA ouput.I spent a fair amount of time with customer support technicians who ran diagnostics several times. However, those diagnostics apparently did not reveal any problems (exactly what they do is unclear). Eventually, they wanted me to do various cable re-arrangements etc. As I had already connected, disconnected, swapped etc. multiple cables multiple times from various devices that was not going to yield any answers. My conclusion is that there must be some circuity in the Connect that has failed and resulted in the RCA outputs not delivering meaningful signal. The customer service people were not able to confirm that, but t
I want to connect two pair of Definitive Technologies AW6500 speakers to a Sonos Amp. According to the speaker installation instructions, each speaker presents a nominal impedance of 4-8 ohms. The Sonos Amp states it provides 125Watt continuous power sine wave, into an 8-ohm load, both channels driven. It further states that the Sonos Amp can power two pairs of 8-ohm nominal passive speakers wired in parallel. My question is can I safely wire each pair of the AW6500 speakers in parallel to the left and right channel of a Sonos Amp? If the speaker instructions indicated 8 ohms, I would have no question. However, stating 4-8 ohms has me questioning if this is safe. Any feedback will be appreciated.
Any recommendations on best placement for two Sonance wall mount architectural speakers? Will be connected to Sonos Amp (inside). 70% music 30% TV **Trying to figure out how to upload image
Hello there! 'm in the process of renovating my house (full ren of a single story house, down to studs, full framing accessible, still weeks away from any sheetrock / drywall going up). After weeks of reading and debating (largely with myself), I'm deciding to tap collective knowledge here...I choose Sonos for my simple audio system; I'm planning to have everything run to a network rack in the pantry, somewhat in central position in the house: Room 1: open space kitchen / living / dining: 900SF - new Sonos Amp ; thinking of using an in wall volume control so that I can have different volumes in the kitchen vs. the dining area Room 2: small bedroom / office 145 SF - old Sonos Connect:Amp (but S2 compatible) Room 3: main bedroom 190 SF - old Sonos Connect:Amp (but S2 compatible) Questions I've got: what are you recommendations in terms of in-ceiling speakers for each room? Model? Size? I'm open to spending a bit more for the Room 1 since most time will be spent there - max would be $
I recently ordered a replacement Outdoor speaker. The replacement only had two wire terminals. Then I checked and the existing had four. It will not function with just the two but I do not see a product with four wire terminals?

Hi!I have a Play:1 speaker that was connected to my record player a Connect Gen 2 which has stopped working. I’m on a budget and want to replace it, does it need to be a Gen 2 Connect or would a Gen 1 work? Thanks so much!

I can't turn off my Port status light. The problem started with an earlier software - maybe 15.4, and was corrected in 15.7. Now the problem is back with 15.7.1. I've tried rebooting the Port, router and iPhone. Any suggestions?

Question can you add a Sonos sub to the Sonos amplifier?
Do grills come in wood-like colors for these speakers or only in white?
Apologies in advance for the rant. Sometimes 1set plays and the other set does not. Or the audio cuts in and out. It's not the speakers because when the issue happens, it happens to the entire pair. WHAT DID I DO BEFORE CONTACTING SUPPORT The usual stuff, rebooted the modem and router. I then changed the network channel in the sonos app and tried each of the 3 channels. Hi,I’ve a sonos port connected to my amp, this last while I’ve noticed the level on my left speaker keeps dropping of when i switch it on. if i change the line-out level from variable to fixed and then back it’s ok. Anybody know why and is there a way to avoid this happening.thanks for any help provided.
I have installed 14 zones in a large custom home. Each zone consists of the following setup:Sonos Port → DEA 704D Amp → JBL Pro Control 322C (x4)I have had a slight buzz in all the speakers, some zones very subtle and some zones extreme. I have tried everything from grounding the rack, ground loop isolators, changing cables, checking software upgrades, changing breakers, outlets, etc … I even considered installing an entirely new breaker box to separate the audio equipment from the rest of the house. Then I discovered when I change the source of the audio from the Sonos Port to direct cables to my iphone NO BUZZING. I installed a Sonos Connect Series II and NO BUZZING. The internet search shows similar issues and dissatisfaction with the Port having noise. I would prefer to use the Port due to is having more features than the Connect, mainly the dual mono option. Does anyone know if there is a fix to the noise and/or a newer version of the Port coming out? Thank you.
I have a two channel receiver. Can I connect two separate Sonos Connects, one to each channel? Will this allow me to play two different sources to two different zones or do I need a two (multi) zone receiver for that?
I've gone through the gamut. Even tried connecting my port directly to the router via ethernet cable. Nothing. Been trying everything multiple times over the past week. Nothing. Help me.
Hi, we just got our Sonos port working with our Sony str-az3000es through the “works with sonos” option and can make the receiver turn on, go to the right input, and play music using the sonos app but are wondering if there’s a way to make the receiver turn off using the app? Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks
