Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Loved the functionality of Alexa on my three Sonos One speakers when I bought them in September (voice control at last!!), though I did notice little glitches here and there. However, one by one, the speakers stopped responding to voice commands, and after procrastinating for awhile, finally went through the steps of re-setting everything. To be clear, I can control the Sonos speakers flawlessly through the Sonos app. The devices all show on the Alexa app. When I call Alexa, it either doesn't respond at all, or says it cannot understand me right now. Ran diagnostics on Sonos app: 1895040296 And yes, the mics are on (double white lights are showing on all speakers)

This question may have already been answered, but I still going to ask. I do not have any Sonos devices, but I’m planning on getting 3 Sonos Ones. I currently have an Amazon Echo gen. 2. If I connect the Sonos One to the Alexa app, will it appear as if it’s an Amazon Echo speaker (not a 3rd party speaker)? If so, because the Amazon Echo has Bluetooth, will I be able to connect a Bluetooth audio device to it and have the sound play through one of the Sonos One speakers? It probably won’t be able to happen, but I’m just wondering. Thanks!

My SonosOne microphone only works once each time I turn it on. I have reset a couple of times, including deregistering every device in the house from Alexa and Sonos and starting again. Same problem continues. Please help.

I have had a Sonos One for over half a year, Alexa voice service used to work on it like a charm until I upgraded my old router to Orbi. Ever since Alexa fails with the message:" Sorry I have trouble understanding right now please try a little later", I have tried many different fixes but its only a matter of minutes to hours (depending on the fix) for Alexa to fall back into the same error: - Replug the Sonos One results in Alexa working for 10-15 minutes before the error - Re-registering Sonos results in Alexa working for 3-4 hours before the error - I have tried many more: Resetting my modem/Orbi/Sonons, Setting up Orbi's Satellite after I setup Sonons, changing the 2.4Hz channel of Orbi to 6 instead of the auto(3). I have sent my diagnostics to Sonos and they found that my Sonos speakers are not communicating with Amazon. Does anyone have a similar problem? Can you think of something else I can do? My system: - Pace 5268AC FXN (AT&T Uverse modem in bridge mode) - Orb

Trying to play music on my sonos one using Alexa and my Deezer account. Alexa is saying "Playing song from(my choice) using Deezer" but nothing is playing. Any ideas folks ?

I have a Sonos one in my bedroom and kitchen. I used to be able to ask Alexa to play music while in one room (say the kitchen) and it would only play in that room. Now it’s playing in both rooms automatically and I never changed any settings. It’s very frustrating. How can I stop this from happening?

This is weird, and it had never happened before (or I didn't realize it): I have Sonos One's, in the living room and in the bedroom. It's happening that, if I say "Alexa play" and I say it in the living room (a pair of Sonos One's), it responds to me, but it starts playing music in the bedroom (a single Sonos One). The same happens the other way around: I say play or stop in the bedroom, the device acknowledges the command, but execute it in the other room. It does work properly if I name the room, but I didn't need to specify the room before. All of this started to occur right after I was experimenting with Alexa groups (where I tried to create an "everywhere" group). Have any of you had the same difficulty?

I have a Sonos Connect attached to my stereo receiver using the analog out connectors. Can I connect an Amazon Echo Input to the Sonos Connect using the analog in connectors and if so, what other settings do I need to make to have it play through the Sonos?

So I have a Sonos Beam with Alexa, as well as two Play Ones in my room for surround sound. Whenever I say Alexa, then a command, I only hear the voice out of the Beam. Is there anyway I can hear the voice out of all of the speakers?

Slightly odd problem which started last week. When asking a Sonos One/Beam to play something, it is automatically grouping together all other Alexa-enabled Sonos speakers to play it. This is despite them not being grouped or other speakers even playing something else at the time. Earlier today, with the Sonos app open, I asked the One in the kitchen to play Radio One and watched in the app as it lumped all the Alexa-enabled speakers together to play Radio One - even though they were already in use playing other things. It doesn't seem to include the Play:1 in my set-up, though. I have a Beam, two Sonos Ones (not paired together) and the Play:1. If it helps, my diagnostic number is 1910432264. I just bought a Sonos Beam and connected it to my Philips smart TV via the HDMI ARC input. The input for my digital television signal comes from a external device which is connected via another HDMI input to the tv. When I ask Alexa to turn on the TV, it works. However, it automatically switches the TV input to the HDMI 1 (ARC input), while it should stay on HDMI 2 (TV signal input). If my tv is not on HDMI 2, I can't watch TV. So now I have to switch my tv back to HDMI 2 via the remote control in order to watch TV with the sound via the Beam. Is there any way I can control the Beam via voice and watch TV without having to use the remote to switch the TV to the right input?

Hi there! I set up a Sonos Beam today and connected it to my Samsung TV (Q6F) via the ARC HDMI port, also installed Alexa and it's running smoothly for things like playing music on Spotify or checking the weather. But what remains unclear to me: to what extent am I able to control my TV via Alexa voice control? There's no list of possible commands out there, at least I couldn't find it? I picked up somewhere that it's possible to turn the TV on and off via Alexa, so I tried that: turning on actually works, while for turning off Alexa says "OK" without actually turning it off. Why is that? And are there any more things I can do, such as... ...switch the HDMI source via Alexa (i.e. "switch to Playstation")? ...switch the TV channel via Alexa (i.e. "switch to CNN")? etc.

I have added Apple Music as my default music service in my Sonos controller and in the Alexa app. I can play Apple Music fine but Alexa voice control on my Sonos devices (e.g. Play One) does not work. Is that supported? If so, what do I need to do?

So I thought I would dip my toe in to this Alexa mularky. I only wanted the voice control over my Sonos system though as I really don't care for IA telling me what the weather is!!. I already had Sonos in every room of the house before the One was released so rather than buy any new units I thought I'd test it out with a £50 Echo Dot. I'm 'Old School', my music is mainly stored on a WD Cloud with many playlists setup in itunes and happily read by Sonos. I discovered very quickly that Alexa can't recognize any of these play lists. What is the point of that!! Alexa is really only there to support streaming. So my big beef (and I would be f***in' livid if I'd bought some Sonos One's) is that it should be made more obvious that Alexa can not access your personal music library - for me only £50 down the drain. Having issues my default “Alexa play some music” starts my Deezer flow on Sonos in the room I’m in, at random times the songs will just skip on to the next track. If I use the iOS app on my phone to start the “flow” it doesn’t skip. Any one have the same issue?

Line-in Voice-Control Command

I have a Sonos Beam with the room name TV. From any of my Sonos speakers (2*One and Beam) I can say Alexa, turn on TV, which works fine. I can say to the Sonos Beam "Alexa play music" and it switches from TV to playing Music. However, if I say to any of the One's "Alexa play music on TV" the response is "I didn't find anything named TV that can play music". If I say to the Beam "Alexa play music on Kitchen" that works fine also. FYI, TV appears as a device in the Alexa App (iOS). If I create a group in the Alexa App then I can add TV as a preferred speak. Here is the strange part: TV is listed as an Alexa Enabled Device when I edit the group but it won't let me select TV as an Alexa Enabled Device. It just highlights TV but doesn't put a tick next to it. The two One's can be selected, no problem. So: I renamed the room name for the Beam from TV to Lounge in the Sonos App and rediscovered devices. In the Alexa App there is now Lounge which shows as Alexa and Lounge TV which sh

If I ask Alexa to play music from a specific artist, the typical response is “shuffling songs by [artist name] from [my name’s] Spotify on Sonos.” Then no music plays. How do I troubleshoot this?

Anyone running Sonos one Gen2 and having issues that every so often after making an Alexa command that the unit will stutter and drop off the wifi? I have 3 units and all three are doing it intermittently. Exact same issues with my Friends unit he also just got. We both were running the original Sonos ones with no issues. I tried replacing back with Gen 1 and ran it for a couple days and no issues. Went back to Gen 2 and will have the issue couple times a day. Wifi network is Ubiquiti Unifi with 3 AC HD APs. Thanks.

When will "Alexa" be available in Denmark

Hi everyone, I know this has been covered extensively but I'm mighty confused, so please bear with me (and help if you can!). I have a Sonos One in our kitchen, a Sonos Connect in our bedroom, and our kids have recently got Echo Dots in each of their bedrooms. The upstairs devices are currently ducking whenever the kids use their Echo Dots. I've had a look at how to stop this happening and thought the answer was that I'm supposed to set up a group on the Alexa app to include all of those devices where I don't want ducking to occur. So I've set up a group "Upstairs" and included the kids' echo dots, and our bedroom Sonos. But it's still ducking..... I haven't set a preferred speaker because we all want to be able to play different radio stations in our own bedrooms (leaving aside the frustration of the fact we can't all use Spotify despite having a family premium account but that's a whole different issue), not have them all playing the same thing (which is what I think settin

TL:DR - You can now request a personal music collection by voice from a Plex media server. well, I'm starting to get somewhere on having non-streaming services work on my Sonos One (and other Alexa devices too of course) Obviously, up till now, the only way to play music on our Sonos devices has been using many of the paid for streaming services OR playing music from our own music libraries. This is great and allows the best of both worlds BUT we aren't able to play more than a couple of those services with voice alone (Spotify, Deezer and Amazon Music). For ALL other services, we are limited to using the Sonos app/software in order to access this music. However, I have today (and I may well be a bit behind on this front) discovered that I CAN access music stored on my Plex server (which is streamed from my NAS at home) by enabling and linking the PLEX skill on Alexa and then asking "Alexa, ask Plex to play......" I want to talk to my Echo Dot and have Alexa respond to me through a Play:1. In order to make this happen, I had to hook up the Dot to a Connect:Amp, use the controller to have the Play:1 play from the Line In of the Connect:Amp, and the connection seems to work. However, if I ask Alexa a question, "Alexa, what time is it?" "Alexa, tell me a joke." her voice comes through the Play:1 at a very low volume, so low that I can barely hear it. Volume on Echo is at 10, and the Play:1 volume is on full. Music plays loud as expected, but Alexa's voice is way too quiet. Am I doing something wrong, or should I just give up on trying to make Alexa and Play:1 work in this way? Very disappointing if that's the case.

Is there a way to create Alexa presets on Sonos One ? i.e.: Play 1 --> would play defined TuneIn station, Play 2 --> would play defined Spotify playlist...etc
