Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Ive got One, Beam and Arc. The One doesnt respond for up to a minute when I ask it to play something. (it says “playing Queen on Apple Music” …. then nothing).  If I pair it with the Beam or the Arc it works perfectly and plays at once.  If I play via the app to the One it works fine.   I have moved to another network (different house ) and its the same.  I have rebootedand updated firmware.  Same.

Hey all! I thought I’d share my insight into the Alexa/VA volume issue on Beam – at least for me.  Today I noticed the volume on Alexa was disproportionately LOW to the volume output for TV/Music sources. It was so low it was unusable without setting the TV audio so loud it was blasting out. Since last week, I’ve been using the included HDMI → optical adapter from Sonos which I plug into a 2013 Samsung TV. It’s the only way I can get 5.1 in the form of DTS. As using optical removes my volume controls and flashes up an annoying prompt on the TV to control the device directly, I’ve gone into the Samsung TV settings to activate Samsung’s IR blaster (which I haven’t actually got), so that the TV ‘thinks’ to output volume commands received to the IR cable output –– and then I’ve gotten the Beam to learn the TV remote control IR to control the volume –– less than ideal. I thought the issue might be related to the Alexa Assistant volume being directly linked to the Sonos output volume – 10% o

Hi,I have searched a bit but seems I am the first having this issue.I have 3 Alexa (2 Dot and 1 spot) and 2 Symfonisk-Sonos. I am using Spotify from Android/iOS/PC - the issue is the same.I am able to group alexa speakers and play (cast) to 1-2-3 of them. I am able to play to one sonos speaker at the time. Although I am not able to play to a group including 2 sonos speakers, or sonos speakers and Alexa.I have created a group including 3 alexa and 2 sonos, but can’t see it on Spotify.I have tried to create a Speaker Group (there is a dedicated function in the Alexa app) but in this case I have no chance to add the sonos speakers.Already tried the standard troubleshooting (uninstall all the apps, disable and re enable sonos skill, restart, clear cache etc.When asked, Amazon told me that Sonos speakers are not supposed to be compatible witht he multi-room functionality, although reading on the FAQ on Sonos website it seems the oppositethanks in advance, I hope the issue is clear 

Someone put me out of my misery!Four months ago my Sonos play1 has decided to not work with voice commands.I use Alexa to play radio or Spotify.Now Alexa works but it won't actually carry out the command.I've factory reset the Sonos, deleted the apps. Disabled and re enabled Alexa, pretty much everything any forum seems to suggest.Has anyone got a fix for this as it's almost pointless owning a Sonos that doesn't work with voice control. It's infuriating!!! 🥴    

Hi!Are there any updates on the integration for Alexa and Sonos from anyone who has managed to link sonos and alexa in The Netherlands?I just bought a set of Sonos One ..and don't see Amazon Alexa as an option for voice assistant 😥I certainly wish I had researched this earlier. What an absolute bummer! 

My setup: ARC + 2 x oneSL (surround.)  My ARC is defined as a Speaker in Alexa.  It is not in the same group as the Echo.When watching TV, if I say ‘Alexa turn on lights’ - it does - and provides audio feedback via Echo speaker.  BUT, then the sound coming from ARC goes and stays very low for ~15 seconds before returning to normal.  If I say ‘Alexa stop’ during this period, the volume pops right back up.  This seems to happen if the music is coming from the Echo as well (though, in this case, saying ‘echo stop’ actually stops the music too.)My Echo is located behind my head, close to me, and it is the one that answers - not the Sonos speaker, when I talk to it.  Alexa audio playback happens, as desired, on the Sonos.Thanks for any and all assistance in fixing this uniquely annoying issue.

Hello, all.I have four rooms of Play:1s with four Amazon Echo Dots.When I ask Alexa to play music, it plays it over the Sonos speakers in the correct room.  But when it responds to commands,  Alexa’s voice comes over the Echo Dot.This was previously working as desired (all sound coming through Sonos) in three of four rooms.  To get it right, I went through a disable skill/ de-register/ re-enable process.  Now…three of the Alexa’s responses are played on the Echo Dot and not the Sonos speakers. One Echo Dot is not playing anything on the Sonos.  The Sonos app still correctly controls that Sonos.Any ideas on how I get both Alexa responses and music to play over Sonos?  There has to be a way as I did have it working in some cases.Thanks!!

Hello,I juste added two sonos one (1xOne and 1xOne SL) as surround speakers to my sonos beam (1st gen).I deactivated the mic on the beam. The One is near the kitchen so I usually use it as a timer or else.When I say Alexa… is ducks the volume on my beam, and so on the TV, which is really annoying for the one using them.Is there any way to prevent it ?

I gifted a One to my parents and my dad called to say he can’t successfully add Alexa to his new speaker that he added to his existing sonos system.  I thought “this guy can’t do anything on his own.”  So, I get him on facetime and remove voice assistant from one of my speakers so I can walk him through the process.  I open up my app, click settings, click system, click on Sonos Move (the speaker I chose as the demonstration piece), click Add a Voice Assistant, choose Amazon Alexa, choose Add Amazon Alexa, Choose add Amazon Alexa, click sign in to Amazon, choose get started, choose allow, get a blank screen with a done option in the top left hand corner, it takes me back to the sonos app/system/sonos move AND I am right back where I started.  No Amazon Alexa added.  I have done this 15 times with two different mobile devices and am getting the same outcome.  WTF????  My dad isn’t helpless.  Or, we both are.  Help me!!!!

I’ve set up my Blink doorbell through Alexa and have announcements on but I’m not hearing a chime when the doorbell rings. Any suggestions? 

I used to control my Sonos system in the UK with Alexa. Now I have moved to Spain, I tried to enable the Sonos Alexa skill but it tells me it is not available in my region.  Most posts I am reading here at over 4year old - is it still not available? How weird, Wi-Fi in Spain is the same as in the UK. Any solution? 

Trying to play tunein, it says tunein live isn't available! I don't have tunein live and just want to play talksport. I can play it from sonos app but not through alexa! Please help 

the bcc has announced that it will only be available to listen to on its app can some one tell me weather Sonos will support this when it happens which I believe is very soon 

My Amazon Echo Show and Dot both are able to play music on my Sonos One. But when I attempt to join them together, the Alexa app says the Sonos is not compatible. Surely by now this should have been sorted.Any help appreciated.Asking in hope.

Has anyone had any luck with this?  Everything works as it should except the alexa functionality.

I purchased the Sonos One SL two years ago for my sister who has since passed away.  I’m going gift it to my neighbors and need to find some documentation to point them to.  I’ve checked the online manual for the One SL and it makes no mention of the built-in Alexa feature.  Is there another version of the document that I’m missing?  TIA

I have an Echo+ in my Kitchen and a Beam in my front room. Anytime I asked the Echo+ to play music it defaults to playing on my Beam. It used to be intermittent but happens every time now. It's the same for both Radio & Spotify

Can anyone help with this issue - on Sonos 1, I have installed Alexa and enabled the skills via alexa - but no BBC station will pay after the initial “BBC sounds” announcement…. I have installed……deleted, re enables, … rebooted and disabled and then re enabled the skill but to no avail…… and also……. Alexa won’t play any music at all ……..any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated…….

As described extensively in this thread, multiple users have reported the consistent need to ask Alexa (or Google Assistant) twice to play music on Sonos from Spotify.  This appears to be related to an erroneous stream limit error from Spotify that is not being handled correctly by Sonos.   A fix was apparently released for S2 systems in 2021 that resolved the issue for S2 systems, but the issue remains unresolved S1 systems.  I suspect most S1 users have either given up on Spotify, Sonos, or both at this point.As described in the above-linked thread, this problem can be replicated as follows (including on my own system):When issuing a voice command to Sonos in any room I have the following situation:If SONOS is playing or has recently played via voice command: No problem; music will play properly. Hello, I just got my 2 Sonos Move speakers and I have been trying to get Alexa to work on them but no luck so far. As the title suggests both apps of Alexa and Sonos say that it is not available in my country, being The Netherlands. I know that Sonos officials are not permitted to point us in other solutions however if anyone knows of a solution to this one I would gladly listen to them. So far I have been using Google Assistant but I would really prefer if I got Alexa to work on these. Thank you in advance for your help.

I had amazon alexa linked and working with my sonos one. Used it primarily to play spotify. At some point the announcement feature did not anymore work. I have sonos one, sonos one sl and beam gen 2 connected to my sonos network and s2 app. for that reason i disconnected voice assistant services for alexa to try repair. Now when i try to add alexa voica assistant, i can’t find it in the list of available voice assistants in sonos app - services and voice - add a voice assistant. It only lists sonos voice control. Also google assistant does not appear on the list. i followed many different advices from disabling alexa skilla, logging out and taking power off from my sonos devices without success. Any suggestions what could be the problem.

Can any Alexa assistant controls the ARC SL ? 

Paired Sonos Ones in our kitchen to replace Alexa Echo.   Not when requesting music via Alexa on the Sonos, the volume is a”all over the place”.   Often starts very low or not at all, then jumps back to normal volume after 1 to 2 minute delay.   Removed and reinstalled Alexa Skill, but same problem.   Very annoying.   Just want Alexa request songs to play a normal volume and not eratic behavior.   Ideas? Moderator Notes: Edited Original post, so that it doesn’t look like it’s been replied.

Hi, I bought Beam and Sonos One last week, was working brilliantly for one week with Alexa, but this morning stopped working with Alexa. Have done everything….reset wifi, reset both speakers, logged out of all amazon accounts, deregistered devices on amazon website, in app etc. cleared apps data,uninstalled apps, renamed speakers, etc etc etc. Everytime I try to add Alexa voice assistant within Sonos app, it doesn’t (kicks back into sonos app after logging into alexa, but alexa doesn’t show up in sonos app), but in the Alexa app there appears an offline device suffixed second edition. if anyone can help please, much appreciated.
