Amazon Alexa and Sonos

I have mostly Amazon Echo devices in my house, with the exception of two Sonos One speakers working as a stereo pair in my living room. Every Echo speaker is in an Alexa group “Everywhere” so I can play music “everywhere” in my house.Except the Sonos One speakers aren’t listed as available for the speaker group. I’ve heard that it’s the fault of Amazon for not allowing third-party speakers to be integrated into speaker groups in Alexa. I’ve also heard that it’s Sonos integration that’s to blame and that there are other third party speakers that can be part of a speaker group. Is there a solution? And if so, how do I get my Sonos One speaker pair onto my “everywhere” group?If not, what’s the update, Sonos? What would be involved for your speakers to be available for speaker groups through the Alexa app?

Alexa voice service is not available on sonos voice service. What can I do to solve this?Tks

I changed my email on the account. I no longer use the old email. Now the speakers will not work with Alexa. Can someone please let me know what I need to do to resolve this?

I’m getting really frustrated with my Echo no longer playing BBC sounds on the Sonos Five. I’ve tried everything from disabling BBC sounds skill on Alexa app as well as Sonos, removing the group, what the voice command is to play music on the Five.The strange thing is Spotify plays on the Five from echo.Does anyone know how to fix this? 

For months now there seems to be an increasing decline in the effectiveness of the Sonos One’s ability to listen and perform tasks.  I’ve had it for about 4 years and it has largely been fine and perhaps gets the most amount of use of all my Sonos devices as it’s in the kitchen, although somewhat more hard of hearing than pure Amazon Alexa devices, which is understandable as this is a Sonos device first and foremost and the mic array design is more recessed.  With that in mind it has been kept in an ideal position, away from a wall and other kitchen sources of noise.The decline in response though has manifested in stages.  last year it often was randomly not turning off any music or radio stations, even if initially activated by voice command to that device.  BBC Radio 4 or radio FIP for example would launch fine but it would either ignore the command to stop with a tone or deny it was even playing, despite the historical command language being adhered to.Now though it hears the comman

Good morning everyone,I’ve just purchased a Sonos Arc and have installed Alexa and I have been very pleased with the experience so far. However, it seems like I can only manipulate music apps like Spotify, Sonos Radio etc. as I’m having trouble opening up video apps like Netflix and Amazon Prime video. Upon asking Alexa to “watch Netflix” she responds “to control video device you need to connect it first… go to settings/video apps etc...” except that I don’t see the Netflix option under tv/video.Furthermore, when trying to connect Amazon Prime through the Alexia app->Tv/Video I get prompted with “Sorry, we could not find any devices to link.”How can I get Alexa to open up my video apps and do I need to buy an additional device such as the Amazon echo to remedy this situation? Thanks!

Has anyone figured this out yet? I can’t seem to setup the skill for Alexa and in the settings for Services & Voice there’s NO ALEXA THERE.? Why is that?

I have a number of Amazon Echo devices along with a number of Sonos (Alexa-enabled) speakers in the house. I only want the doorbell notifications to go to certain devices and need to exclude certain Sonos devices. However, information on the net appears to suggest doing this via the Alex App, but I can only de-select Amazon Echo devices in there and not Sonos speakers enabled through Alexa.Is there any other way that I can stop these notifications as the Sonos app only appears to have rudimentary settings for Alexa in its own app.

Have to confess I did not realise the otherwise super ARC device had Alexa embedded. However the functions that the simple Alexa Echo device performs with ease, do not seem to be so simple with the ARc device. Maybe that’s my knowledge, how it’s set up or the product itself but functions such as ‘drop in’ (where you can open up a communication with another Alexa device) do not seem to work. Same with other communication type functions that are commonplace on even the lowest end Amazon product. is this your experience? Or am I missing a setting that would allow the ARC to perform as an equal to the the Echo device?Very much hope it is my lack of set up rather than a delta in function.Appreciate any input you might have.

Subject:: Alexa cannot connect to Spotify or other music sources (all enabled) after a Sonos auto software update to 14.20I have 5 sonos one speakers plus Boost that previously worked well with Alexa. After the auto software update on the speakers, Alexa failed. Specifically, Alexa could no longer execute commands such as “Alexa, play smooth jazz music.” Alexa would respond “Playing smooth jazz on Spotify … sorry that device is off line.” The problem is that everything is on line and correctly connected. Also, I can ask Alexa what is the weather or other questions like that and it responds appropriately. In summary, Alexa cannot reach any of 4 music services that were, and remain, enabled in my skills list. I followed all Sonos recommended reconnect procedures with no effect. Router is same and I made no adjustment to its settings prior to this problem; IPhone 14 is same with no changes there; Wi-Fi signal is robust throughout the house; no new additions to my network; no ‘interference

I have an Echo dot and a bunch of Sonos Play speakers. All up to date software. I have the Sonos skill enabled on the Alexa app but when I go to settings>services and voice>add a service in the Sonos app there is no option for Amazon Alexa, only Amazon Music. I’m based in the UK. Any ideas why it’s not available? 

Alexa will work if I say time weather alarmbut when I ask to play Apple Music it will say connecting to apple. Musicthen say having trouble connecting ty for any help

Okay, it is now January 2023, and evidently you  still cannot play music from your Sonos indexed music library using Alexa.  I’ve wasted my time looking at numerous articles that seem to indicate you can play your music files in Sonos using Alexa, but there is always an issue. I have the Amazon music service setup in Sonos.  I have the Sonos skill linked and ready in the Alexa app.  Yet I still can’t play my own music in Sonos.   I just followed one article to setup Alexa with Sonos and at the end the commands below were listed, nothing to do with playing your own music.  Here are the commands in the Sonos app on my Android phone.  “Alexa, play music for meditation in the bedroom”“Alexa, play top hits from the 70’s in the kitchen”“Alexa, turn up the volume in the bathroom" Unbelievable!  So I’m guessing that the answer to my question is “NO”, you cannot play music from your Sonos music library using Alexa.

How do you pair Alexa with the beam

I have a connect amp, already have hi fi occupying the line in terminals (sorry if not contract terminology), bought an echo dot, not realising I need to use the same terminals, is there anyway I can have both connected, or do have the wrong Alexa product?   Thank you

I recently inistalled Amazon music for apple . Then reinstalled Amazon as didn’t like apple.I have re enabled  Amazon alexa she responds but doesn’t play .what can be done 

The Volume control for my Beam soundbar does not control the volume..everything else works great on my Amazon Firestick..any suggestions??

I have three Sonos One Speakers with Alexa installed I have been using all three for over 3 years they were doing very well happy with sound and quality of the system About 6 months ago the speakers all were updated with the latest firmware and know They will not work correctly. Ask Alexa to play music (Pandora, Xm Radio or Amazon) plays one song and then stops Alexa will not stop playing xm radio shows once it starts playing This has become frustrating and a problem with meIS THERE A FIX FOR THIS AS THIS IS ISSUE…….  

2 days ago all three of our Alexa enabled devices stopped responding to the wake word (2x One's and 1x Arc). Since then I've tried removing and re-enabling the skill, and the usual resets etc. I left it for 24 hours to see if it would just clear itself to no avail.Today I tried to remove the voice assistant and re-add it on one of the devices and after logging into the Amazon account the Sonos app errors saying there was a problem (helpful error codes there Devs). Has anyone experienced similar or could suggest a way to resolve it?

Hi,I’ve just purchased a Beam (Gen2) and Sub Mini only to find that the Alexa voice assistant is unusable.  It’s far to low in volume to be heard when I have the TV (via eARC) at a reasonable level.  The only way I can hear what Alexa is saying is to turn up the volume so loud that it’s then inappropriate.  The volume differential is between the TV output and Alexa is massive!Very surprised and also disappointed, as I had hoped to make extensive use of Alexa since it’s marketed so heavily, but is unusable (for me) in its current state.  While a relatively small issue, had I have known I would have not purchased. 🙁 Thanks.

HiI’ve recently noticed that Alexa will not play music from Spotify despite acknowledging and saying ‘This is … from Spotify’. Also, while Alexa will launch BBC Sounds to play Radio 2, or Global Player to play Heart, and Sleep Sounds, Icannot stop those services with Alexa either.I have logged out of my Amazon, Sonos and Spotify accounts and back in and disabled the Spotify skill, but to no effect.What else should I be doing?Diagnostics report: 638462361

We currently have our Alexa paired to our sonos speaker. We want the option to just play thru the Alexa speaker from time to time. The only option i see is completely removing the pairing all together.Any suggestions?

It is impossible to use Alexa on the Sonos One because the Alexa voice volume is linked to the general volume of the device. If you listen to music at 50% volume, Alexa will answer you by shouting (the neighbors will hear it too). If you listen to music at 10% volume, Alexa will answer so softly that you must lean your ear against your Sonos to hear it.The problem is so evident that I had to buy two Amazon Echoes to use Alexa in the same rooms where I already have Sonos Ones. Yet, even though hundreds of people before me have already raised it, Sonos doesn't give a damn and, for years, has continued to sell Sonos Ones at a higher price because of their supposed Alexa compatibility.

Hello all, I’ve received a brand new Sonos One, and I am excited to test adding Alexa to it. However, when I go to Settings > Services and voice > Add a new Voice Assistant, I’m only presented with the option to add Sonos Voice Control. I’ve been searching for this online, but I don’t seem to find anyone else with the same problem. Anyone could help? Thanks!
