I have two Sonos systems in my home. On system runs Sonos 1 compatible units. The second system runs Sonos 2 compatible units. I currently have a Boost unit running under the Sonos 1 system. Can I run a second Boost unit under Sonos 2 at the same time? Or is there a way to run my current Boost unit under both systems (Sonos 1 and Sonos 2) at the same time?

Hi all and sorry for the long post!I am honestly at a loss right now. I have a Samsung Q90R TV, which does now officially support HDMI 2.1 and eARC, and a Sonos Arc sound bar. While I can get normal ARC working and hear sound perfectly, this obviously creates latency issues and there is a slight lip sync issue which drives me nuts!So as far as I’m aware, I need an HDMI 2.1 certified cable for eARC to work. No problem, I tested my setup with the HDMI cable that came with the Sonos Arc (which is HDMI 2.1) and then suddenly eARC turns on and all is well!However, the problem is that I need a cable that is 15 meters (50 feet) long and also supports HDMI 2.1. So I research and find that to get those sort of speeds at that length you need a fiber HDMI cable. So I bought one from KabelDirekt, that is certified and has the legit HDMI 2.1 certification sticker, meaning that in theory it should work perfectly. We use Sonos to deliver music in a course that we teach. The course involves us visiting small hospitals and I have to get Sonos working, sometimes, over larger distances - and I am looking for advice around this rather than continuing with the repeated pain of my trial and error!We set up a mesh wifi network - the router is plugged into a working ethernet socket and this gives us internet access for some other purposes that we have.I usually plug a Play1 or a Boost into the router and then the other 6 Sonos speakers are placed in rooms - that can be far apart.I do not plug the Play1 or Boost into the hospital ethernet directly because I think they tend to block it (hospitals don’t usually want folks playing music day in , day out via their networks)The problem i have is that the distant speakers are sometimes too far - I can usually ‘see’ them in the app but playing music fails because of network speed.So….options? I purchased two Roam speakers to use with my existing speakers, CD player, record player, receiver and a Bluetooth transmitter. Unfortunately the sound lag between the old wired speakers and the Roams was unacceptable. I gather this is because of the Bluetooth connection so I have upgraded to the Port but I am very unsure of the best way to connect it to my system so that I can listen to my CDs and vinyl using both the wireless speakers and the wired speakers connected to the receiver at the same time.I have tried plugging the RCA plug from the audio out on the receiver to the audio in on the Port but I'm pretty much just shooting in the dark at this point and there was still a latency problem. I’m attaching a diagram of the wiring set up with model numbers. Any advice on what plug should go where or if I need to get a RCA splitter too? Thanks very much.
I currently have 2 outdoor speaker (6 ohm) connected to my Amp. I am looking to add one more speaker— for a total of 3 speakers— to the setup. My questions are this: is this possible? If so what ohm would the 3rd speaker need to be and what type of wiring should I do? Thanks!!
I am unable to setup a second sonos system. I have followed all sonos instructions and reset app a million times. The app then asks for me to sign in to account. and then will go no further. Are there explicit instructions on how to do this? Sonos instructions are very vague and the app seems to have many bugs.I have a sonos one which I need to setup as a second system.
Hey Sonos Community!Just had a couple questions about some issues I’m currently having with my Sonos system.I have about 19 different Sonos products in my system that are all spread out through our three wing building and also have about another five products that I haven’t set up yet since we’re having issues.The issue I’m facing is when I switch channels or songs one speaker will play and all of the other speakers will stop and play off on and eventually if left on the same channel for a while they’ll all start playing in sync but if you change the channel it’ll start the whole process over again. All the speakers that I have have an excellent Wi-Fi score with 4 UniFi AP-HD spread throughout the building but I’m still having this issueI currently have just invested in purchasing infrastructure that will allow me to add the Sonos on the LAN network and have currently added a Sonos Beam and Sonos One to my LAN netwrk and it was playing instantly when I would change the song, I just wan
Hi There, let me describe issue i have in my customers houses, i have set pretty strong wifi connection through the house and i have a managed switch with hardwired 7 amps i have couple arc on wifi and 3 another amp in different rooms on wifi with access points near by. i have settled stp rout for 7 hardwired ones, network system start crashing after it worked couple month so where and what is wrong in my set up
I recently had to redo my network and have since been struggling to get all Sonos product reconnected. Sonos support directed me to set up a 2.4 network for Boost. I did and two Sonos products (mac addresses 48:A6:B8:EC:75:9C and 48:A6:B8:EC:75:C2) still show as connected via 2.4 whereas all other Sonos now show as Boost wired connected as expected. What are the two that are not, do I need them to be connected wired, and if so, how do I do that?Sonos performance now seems about where it needs to be but there are still issues. I have eight One’s in pairs of two each, a Port running my non Sonos family room speakers, a Sonos soundbar, sub, and two more Ones in the rear of a separate home theater system upstairs. Occasionally, frequently enough to be annoying, one or more of the pairs will drop out, reconnecting a minute or so later.Between having major issues reconnecting Sonos and my home security cameras, just shoot me if I ever need to redo the network again.
Hello,I just bought a used GL-AR300M16-ext from a guy on eBay. The guy I bought it from said that the unit came with a Sonos system he got from Costco. I'm unable to factory reset the device such that it presents the initial login screen as described here:https://docs.gl-inet.com/en/3/setup/mini_router/first_time_setup/using the Repair or Reset procedures found here:https://docs.gl-inet.com/en/2/troubleshooting/reset/I've tried the password reset procedure at least 10 times but the device's web page always asks for a password. I suspect the device has a custom firmware on it to support the Sonos implementation. Does anyone know what the default password might be in this configuration?Thanks in advance!Rob
Hello Everyone, I used a Boost (wired to the Router) to create the Sonos Mesh (SonosNet) for (4) Play 1 devices all wireless. Looking at the Sonos Network Matrix, each Play 1 including the Boost showed OFDM ANI levels of 8-9 with each column box fire engine red. I removed the Boost (unpowered), unplugged each Play 1 and then powered them back up eliminating the Sonos Mesh. My Router showed that each Play 1 connected to the 5 ghz Band on my Network. Looking at the Sonos Network Matrix again, OFDM ANI levels dropped to zero and each column box green as grass. My question is, did I effectively take care of my noise level issue or is the Matrix unable to detect/record OFDM ANI levels when devices are connected to WiFi?
For anyone reading along here, please note that this is a very bad idea for a number of reasons, the most important being:1: It’s dangerous, potentially resulting in serious injury or death. Please do not open the speakers, as they can still carry a charge despite being powered off / unplugged.2: You are breaking your warranty: Sonos Terms of Sale3: Sonos can’t help you fix it.Hi, I had destroyed my sonos play 5 gen 2. I made a mistake which caused power supply of 400V.Then I found the very usefull youtube video explaining met how to repair.The 3.15 A fuse and the varistor where dead. After replacing them the speaker was able to power on.But the sound is not well. It produces almost no mid and high tones. I have disconnected the three base speakers and found it does give a little bit of mid and high tones. All three speakers are working. But not at normal levels. Does anyone have a next step for me? Or can I buy the complete repaired board somewere?
I currently have a number of Sonos speakers connected to my home network, they connect to a mesh network (although appears the always connect to the same mesh node but that’s probably by the by). I’m hoping to use these speakers in a temporary locations where I might not be able to use the WiFi or it will be too slow to stream music effectively. Let’s consider plan a I can connect to the WiFi and plan b is I cannot connect to the WiFi. Plan A - I think this relatively simple and I just set these up as a having moved to a new network, I probably won’t be able to connect to Ethernet but is it still possible? It is a large building with multiple access point and not sure of the exact setup but the login does not require a landing page, just a password and ssid. Plan B (which might be more likely to be needed) - can I create an offline setup where I move the speakers and my home mesh network and while I won’t be able to connect to the internet, would it be possible to AirPlay an offline
I am trying to connect my LG OLED television to the Sonos Amp via the HDMI Arc. I can’t get the Sonos to recognize the TV audio out via the HDMI. I’ve been on with support from both Sonos and LG. I’ve also used the optical out adapter to HDMI without success. Sonos sent me a new Amp with same issue so it’s not an Amp issue. I’ve used different HDMI cables. My Tv and Amp are about 15 feet apart. Today the LG support told me the HDMI cable can’t be longer than 3 feet. This seems like bunk to me but I have not had a chance to try a different device using a short cable. Anyone know if this is an accurate statement? If it is, is there a workaround?
Hi,i just added two Sonos one SL and a Sub mini to my gen 2 Beam. It « works » except that when powered on, the two one SL are quite loudly buzzing constantly which is pretty unpleasant. i did a diag : 1035931804is there anything wrong with the speakers ?thanks and regards,pierre
Ok, I have read many conversations here and on the web but no one seems to have the exact same setup as everyone else so distilling their solution to your own issue can be tricky. So, I have my network like this:Cable Modem -->Orbi Router (RBR50) → BOOSTMy NAS (WD EX2Ultra) is plugged into the RBR50 Router. Router is on channel 1 and SonosNET on 6. Here is my Map (nothing horrible to my eyes):I have constant dropouts in the office which is on the 3rd floor (BOOST on the 2nd). The office has an Orbi RBS50…. Sonos log says the music cannot be found or a SAMBA issue. I am using SMB 2 or 3 mode on a S2 setup.So now for the question, should I add a second BOOST in the office? I could do this connected to the Orbi satellite or leave the BOOST in wireless mode (just plug in near the office Play:3). I have no hard ports in the office connected to the router unfortunately (only the ORBI mesh).
