How do I set up a Samba server for the first time on Sonos S1? I’m new to Samba and the Linux terminal so I need all the help you can give. Thanks!

Two suggestions, haven’t updated either recently but both were working last time I looked.

Probably the best thing to do is start with an internet search for generic “setting up a SAMBA server” tutorials for your specific Linux variant (because SAMBA is not at the same revision level for all Linux distros) and then search here for “SAMBA config”.

The latter will find you threads such as this one:

I suspect that if you are using S1, you will probably be confined just to using SMBV1, still? In theory that is said to be a security liability - though in real terms it probably isn’t anything to worry about.

I just wound up using a old apple tv with the mac os hack. But good suggestions though.
