I'am Italian but I live in Switzerland.

My audible and prime music subscription are in italy for obvious reason.

Despite my profile being correctly set in italy, the app still believes I am in Switzerland. When I try to log in to Amazon services,  it pops up the US log in page. Here I cannot switch to the Italian one.

Italian support said that the profile country change should have sufficed. But clearly the app doesn't redirect me to the Italian log in.

Such a mess.

Some streamers use IP identifiers (or other, harder to spoof, data)  to tell where you are, rather than relying on self reported data passed to them along with your account information from Sonos. You may want to call the streamer directly and explain your dilemma, but laws for international sharing of data make it hard to navigate, sometimes.

This is nonsense. I have the audible app and the amazon prime music app and they work just fine on thwir own. No issue, i simpy changed the country within the app itself.

Since you are saying this, explain why sonos voice control only works  with engliah and french (in italy works with italian), what kind of international laws makes sonos forbid himself of using all the language everywhere?

If I install the app from Google play italy, with an italy located android phone can it work ?

And why sonos products are located jn US in Switzerland where there are 4 national languages.

Do you think I have any chance of amazon listening to me when telling them "hey please make my account log in to my proper language".

You want me to that when  I click "add prime music" it's amazon that program the link and not the SONOS ?

If sonos don't know how to fix these issues, why can't let people play their phone content as a simple extermal speaker. Why building a useless app that ruins everyone's life and everybody hates

Not sure why you’re arguing with me. I’m just trying to explain why things may not be as easy as you think they are.

I am not a lawyer, but I have worked with many in discussing international rights for music, which are convoluted and complex. While I don’t work for Sonos, it makes sense that they are restricted by certain laws regarding international access, but you’re certainly welcome to call Sonos Support directly to discuss it.

Sonos, I assume, has to comply with regional laws when imposed on them by the streaming company, so neither Sonos nor the streaming company falls foul of any laws. So if, for instance, Amazon tells them that they can’t offer Alexa in region X, they have to honor that commitment, until they receive authorization.

Unfortunately for us users, international rights have not yet reached a stage where all laws are the same. It would be much easier for me if that were the case, but they simply aren’t.

Sorry but can I just confirm that the ‘mess’ that you are referring too, relates to the Amazon login screen?  And that the issue is that the Sonos App correctly sees your correct location in Switzerland?

I’m just trying to understand your issue here.  If it’s to do with Voice Control or Amazon Services, then location is set in many places, including:

  • The Alexa device location within each device in the Alexa App
  • Your Amazon Account that you’ve linked to Sonos
  • Your Sonos Profile
  • Some streaming companies use the billing address of the payment method associated to the music subscription

As Bruce ( @Airgetlam ) has tried to explain, some of these issues are within the control of Sonos and some aren’t we would need to know the exact issue you are asking for Sonos to fix, to best help you.

I am arguing with you because of your "write to you streamer provider" commet, as if Amazon Italy CEO will reply and changes things just for me.

I contacted sonos support in italy and they seem not aware how things work in their eco system, not even which language they actually support.

Anyway, it's all sonos fault, they claim they support:

-italia audible, but it's no true

- youtube premium, true, but only manually, sonos voice control can't access you tube library to search for song.

So either Google assistant (that can be set only in one speaker) or sonos voice control that works only with amazon.

This poor service management is imbarassing.

If you can't keep up with the service you offer just enable audio cast for Android.

Sorry but in that case a user forum isn't going to be able to help you, I suggest that you contact Sonos support again.

Are you trying to re-authorize /add the Amazon Music account on Sonos app or why do you need to log in to Amazon services?

Which address do you have in Sonos web profile?

I recently needed to re-insert the country there (even though the address looked ok) and then wait 24 hours for the services to appear in the Sonos app list. I was then was able to add it in the Sonos app.

Sonos doesn’t seem to list Italy for Audible. But if you have Switzerland in the Sonos web profile it might work if they’ve implemented it similarly as for Amazon Music (I needed to put an address in a country Amazon Music is supported).

You mention Sonos Voice Control in Italian? Sonos only mentions English and French, see https://www.sonos.com/en-us/guides/sonosvoicecontrol#

Are you maybe referring to Alexa, since other problems you mention are also Amazon related?

Thanks a lot for the answer.

I’ve just verified and:

  • Amazon music, but not amazon audible is available in italy (audible is available in every major (major as G7 countries) language except italian for some reason), so yes is available but not for italians (unless they want to listen to something in english/german/spanish/french and pay another subscription) .
  • Voice control is only english and french, despite being advertised also in italian language: “hey sonos riproduci in tutte le stanze, maybe they plan to launch it at some point in the near future.
  • Voice control can’t access youtube premium library and google assistant can’t tell sonos to play in one or other room. BUT, once something is playing in another room, you can tell google assistant to stop/play/fast forward that room, cause sonos is on the HOME app (insane Machiavellian behaviour of these two companies sonos and google).
  • Technically alexa could support “you tube library” as you can set it in the alexa services on the echo, but I doubt that this would work on the sonos app, there is no way to set what music service the assistant should use, maybe I’ll find out when I call the support.

Shorty:

  • Italian audible: do not exist
  • google assistant: it can’t control differents rooms unless they are already playing and added to the google home app
  • Alexa maybe will solve the problem, since technically support everything, but then I can’t tell google to switch off the lights, xD

I wish I could add all the assistants at this point and ask them different things: it’s not possible

I mean this is really ****** implementation of all those mentioned services, why not just be a company that makes great sounding well designed amazing devices and let the phone do the rest for them, without stupid the stupid sonos app, which was, is and always will be **** compared to the native app for each individual service.

Such a waste of money from sonos part, the money they spent on developing ****** sub-menus on their app were better spent in licensing the google, amazon and apple services.

Puah sonos, as the friendly genie would say: “Phenomenal Cosmic Powers! Itty Bitty Living Space!”
