Advanced setups

I recently setup an arc and sub for our living room and added a move to expand the sound into the kitchen (next to each other in an semi open concept layout). It works great and we love it.  I want to get my husband a turntable or a way to listen to his vinyls with our current speaker setup if possible. Should I buy the sonos turntable or will the amp or port work with his existing old school turntable, currently set up in the basement with a receiver and terrible old speakers. I’m very confused about it all. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hello  Bit of a novice here. I currently have a Sonos amp with a pair of passive speakers wired up, a turntable, two Sonos ones and a five. I'm thinking of adding a CD player into the mix. Would I just need an RCA switch to link it up to the amp so I can just switch between the turntable and CD player? I've tried an old CD player but the sound is distorted as hell but I'm thinking that's just because it's been stored in the loft for about 7 years and probably faulty😬.  Thanks in advance

I am struggling placing the correct network path string from my MAC into the music library (in the Sonos wizard) to USB drive attached to my AirPort Extreme. The string I am using is as follows copied from the location in the network.   afp:// AirPort Extreme._afpovertcp._tcp.local/Music/MusicI have successfully added the same disk and library when the USB Drive is connected directly to my Mac .   

Hi thereI’m looking at getting a multi room set up in my house.I’ve already had lengthy emails with Sonos and also my own research re: compatibility/wifi etc. I’m with Virgin and have super speedy internet (for work) so internet strength and reach around the house isn’t an issue. My problem is that are internet is dynamic (I think that’s the right term). I’ve looked into getting a mesh system however I’ve read that this could decrease my internet strength plus it feels a little out of my technical ability to set up unless someone can strongly recommend one that they know works with VM and Sonos specifically and Isn’t crazy £££s I’ve decided to go down the route of plugging one Sonos SL into my router and then having another two then on other rooms.  My question is, if I were to also get a Roam to use in the garden/bathroom would this be able to connect to the other speakers as a multi room speaker or because it’s connected to my wifi rather than the route SL it would run separately and

I have a PC with my RTX 3090 hooked to a Benq TK700Sti. I then have the eARC returned from the projector to the Beam, Sub, and two One SL.  In the sound settings in windows, it senses that the max number of channels is 6, and also shows several supported formats, which includes Dolby digital 5.1. Additionally, I am able to go through setup and select correct correct positions and even enable the 5.1 setting. Everything seems like it should work.  The problem is that when I actually try to test the speakers, the left and right channels are the only ones that play sound. If I click on the symbol of any other channel in the testing diagram, no sound plays. Also, if I play Netflix or something, the Sonos app says it is playing in stereo PCM.  The 5.1 setup is identical for my Apple TV 4K and my PS5, and I get proper Dolby Digital 5.1 with those.  Any idea what the problem could be?

I'm new to streaming and would like to know how to wire up a sonos connect to an amplifier and an external (separate) dac

I have the Playbar and 2 0ne SLs in my living room. I have a Beam and 2 One SLs in my bedroom. I have my living room set up on my app on my phone. But I can not figure our how to get my bedroom on my phone. Speakers in bedroom all work. I go to "groups" in the app and it's not lit up and when I click "groups" it tells me that this is only for systems with multiple rooms. Can anyone help me? Because I am planning on getting a Sub for my living room and then in my basement, I plan on getting the Arc with a Sub to go with my 2 One SLs in my basement and want to be able to control them all from my phone if need me. TIA

I think I found a solution to getting the Starlink to work with Sonos.You will need to purchase an ethernet adapter for your Starlink. It costs $25 at the time of writing this conversation and can be found in the Starlink marketplace on the app. You will need to purchase a new Dual-Band router and connect it via the Starlink ethernet adapter. (this was easy for me and i didn't need to change any settings but Im reading that it can be a little technical and there may need to be some settings that you need to change) Connect to the wifi signal coming out of the new router. (I did this by connecting one of my speakers to the ethernet of the new router and then using a different speaker to connect to the wifi. I’m not sure if connecting the speaker to the router is necessary or not. I have a room which is mainly used for music with 2 ‘fives’ and a sub. I have recently added a beam for the occasional use TV.I don’t want to use the five’s as surround, so keeping the music part separate. Am I better linking the sub to the beam and joining the two ‘groups’ when playing music, or leaving the sub with the five’s and just have the beam for tv use only?benefits / drawbacks of either option? thanks! 

Hello,Beam (gen 2) + two Play One connected to Mac Studio via HDMI.Problem is that there is a lag in the sound when viewing Youtube, would take few mins to hear the sound, also viewing movies the sound is not in sync.would appreciate any suggestions, thanksCheers

Hi, I have a Sonos ARC and love it. I have a detached garage and the Wifi signal is erratic at best, even though I have a 1400 sq ft one-story bungalow. I purchased a Google Nest mesh system for my old house (3 floors) before I had the ARC and haven’t been able to figure out how to connect the Sonos and Nest networks. I have AT&T internet and a standard AT&T router. I’ve researched this quite a bit and can’t find any definitive information on how to set up the network(s). I’m not highly technical when it comes to networks but generally comfortable with the basics. Also, I don’t use voice assistants at all. My need is strictly music (Pandora and iTunes) and running my Samsung Smart TV sound through the ARC. Thanks in advance for any info and/or advice. 

I have an old  system on the S1 old app and want to replace my amps slowly and so I’m setting up a new amp on the s2 app.  It installs ok but I can’t see the amp in the app and no matter what I do it still doesn’t  appear.   cam both amps co exist in the sane WiFi ?  I thought they could as long as they are on the different apps.  I even installed under a different email to make sure that wasn’t causing the issue 

Hi, I have a pair of Play:1's in my kitchen, configured as a stereo pair. Several times now (maybe, on average, once every 2 weeks), the right speaker stops working. Once it stops, it never comes back and the only way I can get it to come back is to separate the pair, and recreate it. This (so far) has worked immediately every time, so it appears the speaker itself works fine (in fact, when I separate it, I can always play music directly on it). I have a couple of other pairs of Play:1's in my setup, and only ever get this problem with the same, right, speaker in my kitchen zone. Nether speakers are wired. Any ideas why I keep getting this problem? For Sonos support, my Diagnostic confirmation number is: 603946054. Thanks.

I want to set up second Sonos system in our vacation house, uaing same account. Where could I find a step-by-step guide to do this? And, does Sonos app recognizes aystems accordimg to WiFi I am connected to?

I don’t want to use the Sonos speakers and I have a couple places I can’t run speaker wire so I am looking to set up a Sonos Amp or a Sonos Connect as a dedicated left and a dedicated right, I know you can do this with some of the speakers but can you with a Sonos Amp or Sonos Connect?

I experienced a sudden loss of my entire system (running fine for years...running on eero mesh for  about a year) that was resolved after a two hour tech call (kudos to tech “Aevo”….not an easy ticket) but resolved by doing something contrary to solutions i have read so I am asking if this is a new issue (post recent eero update) or known.  Description follows: I have a large system (14 devices) that suddenly stopped working and could not re-connect.  After routine reboots of all network components (modem, switches , eero hub), none of the devices on the system could be seen.One of my playbars was hard wired and that is the way I have run the system for years (I converted to eero mesh about a year ago and system worked fine until last night). However the playbar suddenly refused to register..  Aevo (sonos tech) and I resolved it by disconnecting the hard wired device and putting the whole system on wireless. I suspect this issue had something to do with a eero update but i am not at al

I am so incredibly confused. I own a lot of my own music stored on devices. Setting up playlists with YouTube is easy. Transferring it all to play on my two speakers set up as stereo is ridiculously confusing. The Sonos app is very UNFRIENDLY and completely bewildering. I'm not stupid. But the designers of this set up are STUPID when it comes to user interface. I welcome any advice....thanks.

Hi,I’ve seen a similar question with a suggestion of using an hdmi-to-optical adapterthe relevant pages from my tv manual: pg1, pg2, pg3 Are there any downsides to using an hdmi-to-optical adapter? latency issues? sound quality issues? Is there a recommended converter, or anything I should be aware about in the specs or just buy the cheapest converter?Lastly, the need for complex connections got me rethinking the suitability of Ray. The TV in question is in the kitchen and is not used for viewing movies, but only broadcast tv (mostly news). The TV internal speakers seem adequate, and I have a couple of Sonos One SL in the kitchen for music.My plan was to connect the Ray to the TV and move the One SL that is next to the TV to a room that does not have a Sonos speaker. Hoping someone can help me here. I have a two level home with an apartment downstairs. they are on separate wifi networks. I have added devices downstairs to that network. Can I now create a system on the upstairs network and add devices to that  All under my one user account. Got me stumped, when I go upstairs and connect to  new network It tells me my system and phone are on different networks.  Which is correct!So how do I create new system for upstairs?ThanksGed

Hello,I have a problem with the trueplay function. I have 2 sonos play 5 gen2 in stereo and when I activate the trueplay, the sound volume is unbalanced towards the left. I have redone several calibrations. Separate the stereo. Nothing works. By deactivating trueplay everything is back to normal except the sound quality.... I have read that other users had the same problem. Any solutions to come? sincerelly

Just purchased the Arc/Sub3/2xOne set up and just found out that this Sonos system cannot connect to a wifi router that uses LTE (4G) as its internet source. It makes no sense to me as the speeds are comparable to boardband, it has enough speed for 3 people to use say Netflix, youtube and scroll social media at the same time.  In near future I will update the Router to a 5G one which will have speeds of up to 100mps+. But even as it stands the Sonos system would configure with a 5G router. And unfortunately where we live does not have the option for the traditional fiber/Ultra broadband etc. It is a shame as I was really looking forward to having this Sonos set up. Before I return it, I would like to know if Sonos are intending to do any updates that would allow users with a LTE router register and use their products?

For my Sonos OneWhen I drop a router (the xFinity box) through a hard reset.Then add a router (Google Mesh)Go through the full setup - doneThen when I try to play anything on the Sonos One, it reverts to the router that I just dropped.Appreciate any guidance. 

Very disappointed.  Connection to PANDORA constantly dropping.  Using TuneIn radio is impossible.  All happening free last weeks update.   any suggestions… or perhaps acknowledgement that the app is broken would be appreciated.

Hello good people.  I’ve been lucky to have my Sonos system up and running now for about 2 to 3 years with pretty much no problems.  Over the past week, my system has started dropping audio or randomly skipping tracks.I made two recent changes.  I tweaked the wifi channels in my house.  Also, I introduced three new speakers into the set-up.  I have a lot of speakers so posting the network matrix is a bit tough.  I’m posting two pages of it here.  I can scroll to the right and see some additional info mostly all in gray with two green boxes.I’ve gotten rusty on the meanings.  A bunch of my devices are connected by ethernet.  Some are not.  I thought the ones connected by ethernet would show differently on the matrix but that’s not always the case on this one.  Anything here any cause for concern?Add’l info:  I live in a rural area in the middle of a bunch of acres with no one around me.  So no wifi conflicts at least from neighbors.  Thank you.
