What to get

Bonjour, Je souhaite très prochainement acquérir un ensemble d'enceintes Sonos afin d'équipé mon domicile. La seul problématique qui freine pour l'instant mon achat est que je souhaite savoir si la platine vinyle YAMAHA MusicCast VINYL 500 serait compatible avec ce systeme sans le sonos connect. En effet la platine à la possibilité de diffuser en wifi et via le protocole Airplay. Est ce que cette possibilité la rend compatible avec le systeme SONOS ? En vous remerciant beaucoup, Cdt Nikola

Hey everybody. Really excited about the new voice enabled Sonos One! I would love to put one in my living room where I currently have the complete 5.1 setup. Can I move one of the surrounds to a different room and link the new One with an old Play:1? Will the voice activation work when the Sonos One is in the surround configuration?

Hi everyone! I'm trying to set my living room on a 5.1 surround and I currently have the Soundbar and the Sub. What have I to buy now? Two Play 1 or two Sono's One? I'm just wondering which are the differences between these two components.

So, I have a house that is wired for 5 zones of speakers, 1 pair of speakers per zone--and I need help with selecting the hardware. The way I see it, there are four different operations for the hardware to perform: 1. Source selection and main volume control 2. Converting from stereo to mono (for at least some of the zones, if not all) 3. Pre-Amp: Volume control for each zone (including On/Off) 4. Power Amp I see several different options: Option 1: Sonos Power Amp (new version) for all 5 zones. - This is an elegant solution with high power capacity, and it even provides Operation 2 above (i.e. conversion to mono), but it is very expensive at $600/zone equals $3000. - It is also very costly to upgrade, as any upgrade would require a full replacement of everything. (Note that the piece that will require upgrades the most will be the Source Selection operation, as that is the most prone to changes in technology. Everything else should last for decades.) HI I am planning on purchasing the New Sonos Amp next year to replace my existing Marantz amp, Sonos connect + dac to stream line it all and hopefully give me a better home theatre in exchange. I currently have the above set up with two Monitor Audio bookshelf speakers. I use this system for listening to music and also to play my TV audio as well. My Question is: I want to improve my TV audio and the new amp has hdmi arc so I want to turn my system into 4.1 by adding a Sonos Sub as well as use 2 play 1s as surrounds speakers (which I currently own). Will they all pair up with my bookshelf speakers and will the system sound good? Or is it better to buy a matching monitor audio sub? I prefer the idea of Sonos Sub as its wireless. Was reading another What Hi-Fi article on Sonos Beam tips, as I am getting it tomorrow and then they go to say this... WHAT??? haha Price aside, the SUB makes a positively huge difference owning one myself, and listening to the Beam display at the store I work in. I also snuk a SUB into the warehouse as one of two came off display to accomodate space for the new Beam. And paired with a Play 3 in a warehouse my colleagues agreed it sounds miles better. I don't know what they mean by blunt instrument... lol

I have a beam already connected to TV which works great but I would like to add a Play 5 (gen 1) in the same room as I can then plug in audio devices to Line in socket. What would be the best way to set this up. I would like the music from the line in to play through the beam as well as the Play 5 . Not too bothered if the TV does not come through Play 5 but a bonus if it does. Would the position of the two units be better facing each other across the room ? I have not bought the Play 5 yet and looking at Gen 1 because of cost. Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks

This thread is like a mixture of a conversation and a question. I recently bought the new Sonos Beam, and started experimenting with surround sound. And before you go out and buy one; if you use a PC to game through your TV - you might have a problem. Now, the issue is you can't get Dolby Digital surround sound from using an Nvidia GPU (AMD, I am not sure). You're strictly locked to stereo, unless you have an Nvidia Quadro GPU or a very unique TV. But, chances are you don't as Quadro's cost multiple thousands of pounds and all the TV's I know supplement the issue. So, what platforms pass in delivering Dolby Digital surround sound? Xbox/PS4: PASS Blu-ray player: PASS TV built in apps: PASS PC gaming with Nvidia GPU: FAIL So, I plugged the HDMI in from my PC (GTX 1080Ti) to the TV (Sony 43" XE7073). Then, the TV will re-route the signal to the Beam. And there is nothing wrong with any of the hardware from the PC to the speakers in delivering 5.1 Dolby Digital surround s

Hi i am looking to buy sonas nedd i assume an amp and 4 speakers ideally woreless. Can someone reccomend the list of what i need its for a tv in the living room but this then goes into the extension where another tv is and i need to know can i just buy extra speakers to work with that tv out in the extension? Or do i need another woofer also? How does the sonas connect to the tv alsp is it hdmi tp the woofer then the woofer con ects to the speakers wirelessly? Sorry just bo idea what i need to buy x

I had my receiver ports go bad on me, and instead of replacing it, I decided to get a play bar. Overall, it sounds nice, but I would like to take advantage of my other components which are now sitting idle. I have a very nice sub, and rear channel speakers. So what I am trying to figure out is if I purchase the connect:amp, would I be able to power the rear speakers, and also include the sub (self powered). I read through the FAQ here https://support.sonos.com/s/article/2237?language=en_US , which addresses the speakers. It looks like those would be driven properly. So it really just ends up dealing with the sub. My ultimate goal is to utilize what I already have by purchasing the connect:amp. It would save me a lot of money, and the speakers I can't confirm are 'better' than purchasing Sonos 1, but I do not have power where they would be located... which would required a lot more work and expense. And one of the question I asked was about the international warranty of the product as I am going to gift to my brother in Manila, Philippines. He mentioned it would have international warranty as long as I bought it in sonos.com BUT when I'm looking around here in the forum I saw a question about international warranty and you guys are only honoring region base warranty. That is why I'm a bit confuse right now w/c really is it?

Hi all, I currently own the Beam, which has proved to be a great purchase so far! Very happy! I want to add two Sonos Ones into the living room and link them up as L+R surround speakers for watching TV with the Beam. Does anyone know how this configuration performs when listening to music (Spotify in my case), not the TV. Will the Sonos Ones work as a stereo pair or will the Beam still act as the main speaker? I know I'll be able to reconfigure the setup via the app to make the Sonos Ones act as a stereo pair (essentially forgetting they're part of the surround setup), but I don't want to be resetting on the app every time I go from watching TV to listening to music. Apologies if this is an obvious question, I'm new to Sonos and want to ensure it'll do what I need before convincing the other half that this is something we really need to do! 🙂 Thanks all!

Hi all, So I currently have a Sonos One in my (fairly small) living room and I love the sound quality on it. I'm thinking of upgrading to a Beam for the living room though as my TV needs a soundbar and it seems like the perfect fit. My question: Is the sound quality of music on the Beam good enough to replace the Sonos One I currently have (and I could then move the One to another room)? How does the sound quality for music on the Beam compare to the One / Play 3 / Play 5? Many thanks

Hi Everyone, Newbie here. Looking for suggestion. Let me tell you my current configuration and what I want to do. Current Configuration: Room size: 23x18 w/ 10 ft ceiling. The room is open and has another 15x10 ft of bar area. System: 5.1 integrated in Control4. Have an Episode Soundbar (L/C/R), a Polk sub and two in-ceiling surround speakers driven by Onkyo NR616 receiver. Use: the room has a TV, but is primarily used for music/dance parties. So need rocking/crisp music. Issue: The sound is harsh at higher volumes for dance parties. I just bought 2 Play 5s and a Sonos sub and love the sound compared to my current system. Play 5s are currently setup as L and R channels. With no surround integrated, the sound is not immersive with Sonos. I just ordered Sonos connect to integrate the Onkyo receiver with the two ceiling speakers. But I am open to other ideas. Should I get a playbar or maybe two more Play 5s or something else? Primary use is music and dance partie

I live in a small 930 square foot condo. I caught the Sonos addiction. For the main living area I have a playbase and sub. This living area is open concept to a small eating area and kitchen. In my Master bedroom I have 1 x One and another 1 x One in the master ensuite. The playbase does an awesome job filling the main area (including the kitchen area) for music and also provides excellent audio output for watching tv. I am going to add 2 x Ones to the main area to have 5.1 for TV/movies. At the same time after researching the countless threads on play 5 vs play One pairs etc. I have decided I also want a pair of Sonos in my bedroom for true stereo. After reading the positive reviews of stereo I took the One from the ensuite to try stereo in the bedroom and it is amazing. Not sure why I didn’t do this sooner. For the ensuite the 1 x One is perfect. Sorry for all the details. Now the question as I am coming to the max speakers for my condo so now is the time for me to make a final decis

STOP IT ALREADY WITH THE UPDATES! I have 5 systems and 19 devices. Constant updates make me hate this system. If you feel like you keep needing to fix what you messed up in the last software build then at least do it automatically at like 3am or something. It's annoying!

I have just bought a new sony android TV (Sony KD-XF8505) which is connected to my sonos playbase via the optical cable and cannot control the volume throught the TV remote control? My previous TV was LG and it was working straing away. Is there any specifiy setting which I have to activate or Sonos is simply not compatible with android TVs?

does anyone here use sonos with google wifi or bt whole house wifi? Do you have any issues at all? I need to get one of these for my flat.

After much reading in this forum I decided to go for a Sonos system to replace our old Hifi system in the living room (80 m2 / 860 sq ft). Note that is only for music - I don't own a TV. In this forum, the consensus seems to be that the luxury option would be two Sonos:5 and a Sub, but that a pair of Ones and the Sub was almost indistinguishable from it. So I went for the pair of Ones + Sub, set up as a stereo-pair and adjusted with TruePlay. I'm not impressed. Sound is fine in the lows (obviously), but really weak in the mid-tones. What shall I do? Return the Ones and get a pair of Play:5? I want to be sure that this is a significant upgrade. Most posts seem to compare a pair of Play:5 w/o Sub to the pair of Ones and Sub, and the one post that compares both pairs with Subs concludes that the difference is barely noticable. Is this true?

VINYL! I absently fumbled into a local weekend record market and walked out with 10 vinyl albums! Nothing to play them on though! So jumped online and soon a brand new Pro Ject turntable arrived. Hooked it into the Play 5s and oh my freaking aunt! I’m back in love with music! Words cannot describe the sound. I have two Play 5s paired and they have absolutely come alive, and then when I play it through the Arcam and Dynaudios and crank them up, they just sing like I’ve never heard! I usually listen to digital flac files that I rip myself from cds using EAC, or recently have bought and downloaded some flac albums through HD tracks etc. but the vinyl is just in incredibly awesome. We have 8 zones of wired ceiling/wall speakers (16 individual speakers) that are currently connected to a Niles SI -1230 amp. There are individual volume controls for each of the 8 zones (wall knobs in each room). We use this system for playing music. We do not use this for television - we have SONOS equipment for all TVs. We'd like to be able to power and control the existing wired ceiling/wall speakers with SONOS. What SONOS equipment would be required to do this?

This is great forum and I've been reading all day about what to get and think I'm starting to get closer, but still need help. Right now I own a single Sonos One. I use it in my kitchen (which blends into my living room and dining room) and it does a great job in filling the house with music. Now I want MORE! I already own a soundbar with sub for my TV (the VIZIO SB3821-C6 38-Inch 2.1 Channel Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer) in my living room. We use this solely for watching TV and it does a pretty decent job. I was thinking about getting the Beam and swapping it out with the VIZIO soundbar, simply for a new soundbar BUT ALSO to get even MORE music in the space (it would be more focused in the living room but could also blend with the Sonos One in the kitchen). My first question is: should I do this? Is the Beam going to be a major sound upgrade from my current sound bar? Is the Beam, playing music in a shared space with my kitchen Sonos One, going to sound even more imp

Curious if anyone has used a Play 5 to connect to RCA cables of a Vinyl Player. Can you then stream to your others SONOS speakers in the house? Is there an advantage or disadvantage to this as compared to connecting to the SONOS Connect?

Can I use a Sonos Subwoofer with wired speakers through my receiver, using a Sonos Connect?

1st Problem I ordered 2 Sonos One speakers on 11/22/2018 from the Sonos web site. The order process went without issues. I was sent an email that said what I was charged and that the product would be delivered and set up on 11/28/2018. I also got an email from my credit card company saying there was a charge from Sonos that was an amount 20.81 larger than what my Sonos invoice said. I still don't understand how and why Sonos can actually charge more than they quoted me in their invoice. 2nd Problem I received a 2nd email today reminding me of the following: "Just a reminder, your Sonos delivery is today. Your expert will call or text you prior to your delivery to confirm a precise time. If your expert can't reach you, then they cannot deliver your product." The on line status of the order has never changed from pending. I have no idea how my expert is going to call or text me because I was never asked for my phone number. I assume that my product will not be deliver
