What to get

Apologies as this is the second vinyl question I’m asking in less than a week, but I recently received some conflicting information from a friend vs. what I read on here last week... I have an existing Sonos setup with (playbar, sub, and 2 play 1s). I want to introduce a turntable to the mix and know I need get a connect or a connect amp with a line-in. I want to use my existing Sonos speakers only and have no external speakers to add. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but in the above scenario I should be fine with just the connect, as I don’t need an amp? Is that correct. My friend is telling me I still need the amp to get the “right sound”, but I don’t think he’s right Also, any recommendations on a great turntable that won’t break the bank? Thank you all again!

Hello, new to Sonos products. Just purchased a Playbar and Sub. Ive seen the 5.1 setups by adding two Sonos Ones. In place of the Ones, could I side Play 3 or Play 5 speakers to complete the 5.1? Anyone have any advantages/disadvantages of those in place? I’m not really concerned about the extra $ of the 3s and 5s.

Hi Have a room less than 200 square feet I use for my man cave, have a bit of a noise problem in my community. Looking at the Playbase +2 Play:1 speakers for watching TV and listening to music, mostly watching TV. Is this a reasonable set up and will I able to use my android phone to configure to the room? Hello Sonos aficionados! I am the process of building a new home which will be completed this fall. The house is being prewired with 16-2 or plus Cat-6 to use with a Sonos setup. I have 6 independent zones planned: Kitchen (2 Sonance in ceiling speakers) 8 ohms ea., Screen porch: (2 Sonance in ceiling speakers) 8 ohms ea., Master Bedroom ((2 Sonance in ceiling speakers) 8 ohms ea., Master Bath: (2 Sonance in ceiling speakers) 8 ohms ea, Outdoor speakers: 2 in ground speakers 8 ohms ea. I will also have a dedicated Sonos Amp connected to its own A/V Receiver in the great room with 5.1 in ceiling speaker setup. I understand the limitations to the Sonos Amp and 5.1. I am only utilizing it for music when guests are visiting. In the basement I will have all the Sonos Amps ( or Sonos Connect depending on your suggestions) in a home run configuration in the mechanical room. I have a premium Spotify account so I plan to use the app to chose my music and which zones to run. My

Currently using a Play 1 as my single wired speaker but was wondering if it would be better performance wise to set up a boost instead? The Play1 links to the other Play1 and Play5 via Sonos net. Just not sure if the guts of the boost would be the same as what's inside the Play1 or better?

So I moved into a new condo and my old place my roommate has a playbase and I bought the Sonos sub. When I moved to my new place I decided to keep my Play:5 in my bedroom (which is slight overkill for a high-rise condo bedroom, but I love that the aux cord can take over when we go on a cabin trip and don't have to worry about finding a Airbnb router). Moved an old Play:1 to the bathroom and now I have two Ones as the rear (so they have Alexa). Long story short, I have Alexa taken care of, but I'm torn between the playbase and playbar. I bought the playbar about 2 weeks ago (so I'm within the 45 days to return) and enjoy it a lot. However, I miss airplay2 streaming when I'm in the kitchen. I hate when I'm cooking that I have to fire up the Sonos app and then change songs/volume or I have to keep my TV on to stream through the Apple TV. Hi, I have 5 Sonos speakers around the house, with 2 more on the way. I have sold off most of my traditional stereo equipment, but I still have a CD changer with 200+ CDs in it. I hav3 ripped the bulk of them and I can play them from a hard drive attached to the work. But sometimes I want to listen to the CDs. Does Sonos have a practical solution for integrating the CD player into my Sonos ecosystem?

Hey there, I'm getting a pair of Play:1 in a couple of weeks. My question is should i consider buying a Play:5 too? I wanna let them all 3 play in the same room. left Play:1, middle Play:5, right Play:1 I want to do this because i have concerns that the bass is too weak with only a pair of Play 1? I don't want to get a Sub because of my neighbours but the bass should be noticable and punchy. And could it be that the addition of a play:5 would "destroy" the stereo sound of the 2 ones or could it even expand the sound? Thanks in advance.

I am in process of purchasing a new home, which will then be going through some renovations. I was all set (in my mind) to purchase a Playbar, 2 Ones, and the Sub for my main room entertainment. Then of course I find out there is the new in wall/ceiling system coming out shortly... with a 1yr old child ready to run havoc, having a built in system limiting wires has some appeal. Either system will be used at least 90% of the time to play the sound for what is on TV. I would eventually add outdoor speakers, but that would be used for streaming music and not what is on the primary TV. Which set up will provide the best sound experience? Playbar/Ones/Sub combo vs 4 Ceiling Speakers/Sub? If either of these two items factor in at all; the room is fairly large with high ceilings, and I plan to purchase an LG OLED TV. I'll preface this by saying I've Googled this to death. I'll share my own findings at the bottom. So I'm in progress on a new construction, and I want to get this as right as possible the first time while the walls are totally open. Ideally, I want a 5.1 TV set-up, 2 or 3 pairs of in-wall/ceiling speakers (i.e. Sonos architectural) AND one pair of outdoor speakers. MUSIC sound and experience is my priority over a perfect TV theater setup. Now, the tricky part is, I want every speaker to be able to play from the same singular source (my iPhone). I know that 3 arch. pairs will play the same audio via a single Amp, but that seems like a waste of the TV speakers (if they are just sitting there silent - especially if the TV sub wasn't playing with the arch.) Then, I also want all the arch. speakers to be able to play the audio from the TV output (like if I were to watch a youtube music video, I want every speaker including outside to play that audio). HI friends, I have purchased Sonos Bar, Woofer and two back speakers and made 5.1 wireless home theater. I have a 140 Inc projector screen at my house. I have couple of questions. 1) Could you please help me to find out the right projector compatible with Sonos? 2) If i found some thing compatible with Sonos do i need to buy any sonos connect to use my existing 5.1 speakers?

I have all my music organised on iTunes. I would be willing to use another software for music organisation. I have recently begun using streaming services for music (spotify, Youtube) My current setup is 2 x Sonos One's for music that i play through a smartphone. and separately a 35yr old receiver/amp and bookshelf speakers that are top quality that i use as computer speakers. I would like to combine the two systems Can i get a Sonos Amp and connect my bookshelf speakers to it, also control 2 x Sonos One's and direct control via either phone or computer? Does the Sonos Amp require the software on the computer to run? Are there limitations on the proposed setup? Youtube works through my current setup..... Is there a way to run a Sonos based system without the software?

Anyone have a beam in a bigger room? Currently using a Playbar, Sub, and 2 Play 3's in my great room - 20" X 20' with 18' ceilings and open to kitchen, etc... Current setup sounds excellent.. Use for both music and TV. I would like to buy a Beam for and swap it with the play Bar in great room, (to utilize HDMI ARC and Apple play) and then move the Playbar to my bedroom 14' X 14' with 8' ceiling (TV in there does not have HDMI ARC) for TV use with a couple play 1's I have. Would the Beam still sound good in my Great room, or will I have significant loss of sound quality? (I'm sure I could turn down sub and surrounds to balance volumes, but what about quality? Will the sub make up for the less bass of the beam, or will I miss the mids that the Play Bar offers? Adversely, would the Play Bar, with 2 Sonos Play 1's in my bedroom be too much? If I could swap the features of the Playbar and Beam this would be easy, but now I have a quagmire on my hands. Anyone

Hi I have 2 areas of questions. Using the Sonos app with multiple users 1. Would you recommend Sonos for an office of 10-14 people? 2. Does the app work fine with multiple users able to queue songs/albums after each other? 3. Does everyone use their own spotify/google play account or can you share each others or use a joint account? What speakers? This is our floor plan: I'm thinking of A. 1x play 5 and 2x play 1's B. 3/4x play 1's and a sub C. Something else? (Would likely put a play 5 or sub near the printer (wired in for better connection) and have the play one's on the opposite wall) I'm quite sold on the play 5 after hearing it in store next to a play 1. It was waaay better! Another benefit of the play 5 is it could be taken away and used as a standalone unit if needed. Not so easy with sub and play 1s

My surround receiver just died. I have a set of 5.1 System Audio speakers currently collecting dust. So should I buy a completely new system from Sonos for example Playbase, SUB and Play:1s? Or should I buy 2 x AMP and do a 4.1 setup with my old speakers? The old system is SA saxo 50 front speakers, SA saxo 10 tweeter in the middle. SA saxo 1 rear speakers and a SA saxo sub 10. Or should I just buy a new surround receiver and buy a Sonos connect? I currently own several Sonos speakers so Sonos has to part of the solution. What are the pros and cons? What do you guys think will give the best movie and music experience?

Hi, I own a small PT studio 10x8 with a high roof (small industrial unit). I have just purchased a play 3 and intend to add to this. My question is: should I add another play 3 at the opposite end or add a play 1 at each end and have a play 3 on the side. So 2 x play 3’s? Or 1 x play 3 + 2 x play 1’s? Thanks.

All, I have been reading the forums and greatly appreciate the community here. I have decided to put Sonos thorough pout my house. I will mount 2 play fives in my great room for music (replace some corner mounted Bose); place a playbase in my kitchen under that TV (Double use for music in there), put two play fives in another room where I have another set of corner mounted speakers for listening during get together (replace some corner mounted Bose), and then I have a sun entertainment room that is 30x15 where half is setup for viewing my TV (TV on short wall). So that is my last area to put some speakers... I primarily want to watch movies out there but would like to watch DVD concerts and be able to stream music. For that room I am divided... Would you recommend a Sonos 5.1 setup or should I do this deal with an SONOS connect attached?

Hi! We are building a new house and I need some advice on the right Sonos equipment to purchase. I will qualify with, we are new to Sonos, and we are not huge audiophiles or anything like that. We just want to easily be able to play music in various rooms with easy, and at times, push our tv sound over some speakers in our adjacent kitchen area. We are having 4 Sonance VP62R ceiling speakers installed in the kitchen/morning room area, and two Mariner 54 speakers on the back patio. All our speakers are being routed to a central A/V wire location in the basement. For our family room, we are not planning to put any built in speakers. I had intended on getting a playbase for that room (we dont need an overly impressive surround sound setup in there... we will be doing that in our basement at a later date). I do not have a connect / amp. I have four 5s, four plays, a beam, and 3 ones running throughout the house. This is my first spring/summer in the home, so it’s time to get my outdoor speakers mojo going. From what I’ve seen, the sonance option doesn’t have much appeal, beside being “endorsed” by Sonos. And, I already have decent outdoor speakers I can mount and wire. So, here’s the question. I’m looking to mount 2 speakers to the exterior wall. I have an outdoor/indoor, enclosed bar/arcade area and i’m thinking about mounting 2 more speakers. I’ll have to run about 80 feet of wire to connect the far speakers. Am I buying the amp:connect? Note of frustration. If Sonos has just created an outdoor version of the play:5 I would buy 4 and smile all day. I am continually frustrated by their inability to bring their system outdoors.

I want a wireless TV surround sound setup for my living room that I can also connect my DJ mixer to. The mixer can be connected to Sonos via wire or wireless. The only thing is that there cannot be a delay with the DJ equipment. I know for most wireless systems there is a 1-2 second delay. For example, if you press pause on your iPhone, there is a delay when the music actually stops. Is there any configuration that works with what I’m looking for?

Hello, I am new here and I want to buy a home system from Bose or Sonos. Bose would be a Soundbar 700 with 500 Sub. And with Sonos it is between Playbase without or with Sub and Beam with sub. My living room is mid-size next to the dinner table and kitchen without walls. I want do expand it with Bose Home Speaker (unfortunatly they have not smaller ones than the 500) or the Sonos ones for multiroom. My questions are: 1. Would you recommend to buy the beam with sub or the playbase without sub? 2. If the playbase would win.. with or without sub? Please keep in mind the price of the sub. It would be okay. But is the improved performance worth it? 3. If you have answered these two questions and you have already experiences with the Bose System. Would you prefer Bose or Sonos (I know that I post this question in a Sonos community but a objective answer would be great). You know the HDMI and DTS „issue“.. That‘s it for now.
