Do I need Sonos amp for Sonos outdoor speakers? If so, why?

Sonance outdoor speakers (or other brands for that matter) need an amplifier - yes Sonos Amp is a good choice.
Other choice depending on number of speakers would be a Sonos Connect hooked to a third party amp.
Sonos Amp can power up to 4 8ohms speakers (with the special rated Sonance you can wire 6 total speakers)
