Voice control and smart home

Hi!I am considering buying Sonos Roam to connect it through Smartthings. Unfortunately with all the recent changes in Smarthings environment I am not sure if I’ll even be able to connect it. So my question is:Is it possible to easily connect the Sonos Roam in Smartthings? Is it possible to activate certain build-in sounds on different actions? For example turn on the dogs barking sound when the motion on some sensor is detected. But I want to do it directly in Smartthings, without the need of any complex steps in Smartthings Groovy IDE etc.

I don’t think this is possible, but all the answers I find are from 3 years ago (which is depressing because it feels like an updated feature is never going to come). I don’t want to group any google speakers with my Sonos speakers. I just want to know if there is a way to say “Hey google play “song” on “my Sonos group”. “My Sonos Group” is one of several groupings I’ve built in the Sonos app. I know there is no way to group within the Home app itself, but is there no command that Google Assistant can’t send to Sonos to just play an already set up group? 

I have a number of Amazon Echo devices along with a number of Sonos (Alexa-enabled) speakers in the house. I only want the doorbell notifications to go to certain devices and need to exclude certain Sonos devices. However, information on the net appears to suggest doing this via the Alex App, but I can only de-select Amazon Echo devices in there and not Sonos speakers enabled through Alexa.Is there any other way that I can stop these notifications as the Sonos app only appears to have rudimentary settings for Alexa in its own app.

Have to confess I did not realise the otherwise super ARC device had Alexa embedded. However the functions that the simple Alexa Echo device performs with ease, do not seem to be so simple with the ARc device. Maybe that’s my knowledge, how it’s set up or the product itself but functions such as ‘drop in’ (where you can open up a communication with another Alexa device) do not seem to work. Same with other communication type functions that are commonplace on even the lowest end Amazon product. is this your experience? Or am I missing a setting that would allow the ARC to perform as an equal to the the Echo device?Very much hope it is my lack of set up rather than a delta in function.Appreciate any input you might have.

I really want to get rid of my remaining Apple HomePods. However, a chief reason for keeping them is the ease of handing off anything in playing on my phone to the speaker. I can’t see anyway to do the same with Sonos. Am I missing something?

See this thread -bbc-stations-though-google-assistant-defaults-to-tunein-6868629 I have no idea how you justify closing it with no fix. I am forced to use alexa but it is very definitely not a fix for me.

Subject:: Alexa cannot connect to Spotify or other music sources (all enabled) after a Sonos auto software update to 14.20I have 5 sonos one speakers plus Boost that previously worked well with Alexa. After the auto software update on the speakers, Alexa failed. Specifically, Alexa could no longer execute commands such as “Alexa, play smooth jazz music.” Alexa would respond “Playing smooth jazz on Spotify … sorry that device is off line.” The problem is that everything is on line and correctly connected. Also, I can ask Alexa what is the weather or other questions like that and it responds appropriately. In summary, Alexa cannot reach any of 4 music services that were, and remain, enabled in my skills list. I followed all Sonos recommended reconnect procedures with no effect. Router is same and I made no adjustment to its settings prior to this problem; IPhone 14 is same with no changes there; Wi-Fi signal is robust throughout the house; no new additions to my net

I have an Echo dot and a bunch of Sonos Play speakers. All up to date software. I have the Sonos skill enabled on the Alexa app but when I go to settings>services and voice>add a service in the Sonos app there is no option for Amazon Alexa, only Amazon Music. I’m based in the UK. Any ideas why it’s not available? 

At 1am, sonos started playing music out of the blue.  I generated a diagnostics code shortly after it happened, which is 1080735780.  Can you explain what happened? Thanks, Paul

Alexa will work if I say time weather alarmbut when I ask to play Apple Music it will say connecting to apple. Musicthen say having trouble connecting ty for any help

Okay, it is now January 2023, and evidently you  still cannot play music from your Sonos indexed music library using Alexa.  I’ve wasted my time looking at numerous articles that seem to indicate you can play your music files in Sonos using Alexa, but there is always an issue. I have the Amazon music service setup in Sonos.  I have the Sonos skill linked and ready in the Alexa app.  Yet I still can’t play my own music in Sonos.   I just followed one article to setup Alexa with Sonos and at the end the commands below were listed, nothing to do with playing your own music.  Here are the commands in the Sonos app on my Android phone.  “Alexa, play music for meditation in the bedroom”“Alexa, play top hits from the 70’s in the kitchen”“Alexa, turn up the volume in the bathroom" Unbelievable!  So I’m guessing that the answer to my question is “NO”, you cannot play music from your Sonos music library using Alexa.

Hello,I was wondering is it possible to use Google Assistant through SONOS in Poland? I’m preety sure it was available, before SONOS introduces its own assistant. The main issue is - can I use SONOS to control Google Home devices in Poland? If not, and the problem lies that the Google Assistant feature in SONOS is not available in Poland, can someone answers if SONOS is working on it ? Or when can it be introduced? I belive SONOS looses a lot becouse of this issue... I don't care about service in Polish, but it would be nice to have any Google Home service, since the product is adapted to it in other countries? Are there any other devices that I can add to my home system that will allow me to use Google Home/Assistant and SONOS without problems?

I have a Harmony remote.  It controls all 'smart' gear and Sonos, but it's not fun to use. I think Sonos should enter and take over this market.  There are no competitors that are significant. Please consider it!

Does Sonos Voice Control work on Play:1 speakers?

I have a connect amp, already have hi fi occupying the line in terminals (sorry if not contract terminology), bought an echo dot, not realising I need to use the same terminals, is there anyway I can have both connected, or do have the wrong Alexa product?   Thank you

I’m using 2x Sonos One and Beam 2. All of them are using Wi-Fi 5GHz via the Unify AP. The apartment is small (<50 sqm) and the network is usually stable. All the devices are updated to their latest firmware versions.However, couple times a day when I say “Ok Google” or “Hey Google” the Sonos speakers immediately answer with “Sorry, there was a glitch”. Then if I repeat myself, assistant is able to process the query.What can I do to help you diagnose the problem? I’ve already submitted the diagnostic information via the app. Is there anything else I can do?

I recently inistalled Amazon music for apple . Then reinstalled Amazon as didn’t like apple.I have re enabled  Amazon alexa she responds but doesn’t play .what can be done 

I’ve recently bought Sonos Beam and I’m very impressed by the Sonos app and its built-in services – super easy for me and my family to start playing some fav radio station or music streaming. Anyway, I have a Homekit-based smart home (incl. Homebridge) with scenes and automations working smoothly together. I was sure I can easily integrate the speaker to this eco-system (since it’s added to Homekit using Airplay 2). But the thing is… it works nicely when playing something with Airplay – at that time I can pause the music easily from HK. But though I cannot integrate the speaker to be paused/stopped using the “Shut off” scene (which turns off all unnecessary devices when I’m leaving home or going to sleep). Basically, if I play something using Sonos app, the Sonos speaker is Home stays as turned off and says “not playing”.Is there any way to easily integrate the Sonos speakers with Homekit in a way that music played through the Sonos app can be paused/stopped? Hi,Using voice commands to start radio stations. Some are working and some that worked before is not. For example TalkSport - when I say play TalkSport speaker responds - playing TalkSport from TuneIN followed by - sorry, I could not play.See in forum that some others have had same problem, but could not see any fix.

I have SVC and Alexa enabled on my Arc, not Google Assistant.  I do have a google home in the room as well and if I say “Hey, Google” or “OK, Google” the Arc will lower the volume. The volume does not go back on its own.  Removing SVC didn’t fix this. Is there a fix for this?

The Volume control for my Beam soundbar does not control the volume..everything else works great on my Amazon Firestick..any suggestions??

I have three Sonos One Speakers with Alexa installed I have been using all three for over 3 years they were doing very well happy with sound and quality of the system About 6 months ago the speakers all were updated with the latest firmware and know They will not work correctly. Ask Alexa to play music (Pandora, Xm Radio or Amazon) plays one song and then stops Alexa will not stop playing xm radio shows once it starts playing This has become frustrating and a problem with meIS THERE A FIX FOR THIS AS THIS IS ISSUE…….
