Voice control and smart home

We currently have our Alexa paired to our sonos speaker. We want the option to just play thru the Alexa speaker from time to time. The only option i see is completely removing the pairing all together.Any suggestions?

It is impossible to use Alexa on the Sonos One because the Alexa voice volume is linked to the general volume of the device. If you listen to music at 50% volume, Alexa will answer you by shouting (the neighbors will hear it too). If you listen to music at 10% volume, Alexa will answer so softly that you must lean your ear against your Sonos to hear it.The problem is so evident that I had to buy two Amazon Echoes to use Alexa in the same rooms where I already have Sonos Ones. Yet, even though hundreds of people before me have already raised it, Sonos doesn't give a damn and, for years, has continued to sell Sonos Ones at a higher price because of their supposed Alexa compatibility.

I want Sonos voice control to play BBC Radio 2 on my Beam but each time I ask it to play I say Hey Sonos play radio 2 it plays the wrong channel it plays some Welsh BBC radio not the standard BBC radio 2 Does anyone know how to get Sonos voice control to play BBC radio 2? I have BBC Sounds in my Sonos app and can use Alexa to play but I want to use the new Sonos voice not Alexa please help if anyone knows if this can be done? Thankyou

Hello all, I’ve received a brand new Sonos One, and I am excited to test adding Alexa to it. However, when I go to Settings > Services and voice > Add a new Voice Assistant, I’m only presented with the option to add Sonos Voice Control. I’ve been searching for this online, but I don’t seem to find anyone else with the same problem. Anyone could help? Thanks!

I used to have all my Sonos devices assigned to each room they lived in on the iOS Home App. I noticed after iOS updated devices showed up as “not supported” suddenly. I thought removing a re-adding them might correct the issue but any devices I removed will not re-add and error out with an AirPlay error pop-up “unable to connect to ‘speaker name’”  anyone experience this and figure out how to resolve it?  I tried resetting one of the Sonos devices back to factory defaults then attempting to add to the Home app but no success… thanks.  

Hi everyone - Like many, I have multiple streaming services, but would like Apple Music to be the primary service searched when using Sonos voice controls. How do I get Sonos voice to first look for music on Apple Music vs. Amazon? Specifying via voice control doesn’t work 100% of the time…

Hey all,I set up Google Assistant on my Arc last night and it keeps repeating “mic is muted” and then after a couple of seconds (or sometimes longer) “the mic is back on” while music/sound is playing. I did find this sonos thread with the same issue, but there are no other devices around it and I cleaned the device to make sure there wasn’t any debris.The only other thing I can think of is maybe the heater is somehow interfering with the device (there’s a vent about 1.5’ below), but the mic only seems to be triggered while the speaker is active and not at rest.Here are some videos of the behaviour: I ended up disabling GA on my Arc for now (luckily I have a nearby Move that’s currently able to pick up my GA voice commands), but it’d be great to be able to use it on the Arc since we don’t plan on having the Move in that location permanently. Any ideas?

I have just replaced my two JBL link with Google assistant by two Sonos One. With the JBL I used to ask Google assistant to play music for a certain duration and it worked very well.Now, when I ask the same to a Sonos One, it plays for the requested duration and then, Google Assistant says "excuse me, I didn't understand". And it continues to play. Are there kind of limitations with the Sonos devices?

I have spent hours on the phone with Sonus support regarding voice command for Apple music. Support says they have exhausted all the possibilities while troubleshooting and to contact Google. communicating with Google seems to be very difficult. When attempting to use voice command with Apple music, the responses is that Apple Music does not support this arc device. Hopefully someone has come across this before and has a solution.

Recently upgraded homekit with the new architecture (iOS 16.2). I can no longer Airplay to several speakers, all of which are hardwired or on Sonosnet. The only two speakers I can Airplay to are a Move and a Roam.  I tried removing and re-adding a speaker in homekit but I can’t re-add it.  Also tried power cycling Sonos units, all the homekit hubs, and the router. Same thing. “Airplay - unable to connect”.  Any ideas? I’ll try factory resetting a speaker tomorrow…

Ive got One, Beam and Arc. The One doesnt respond for up to a minute when I ask it to play something. (it says “playing Queen on Apple Music” …. then nothing).  If I pair it with the Beam or the Arc it works perfectly and plays at once.  If I play via the app to the One it works fine.   I have moved to another network (different house ) and its the same.  I have rebootedand updated firmware.  Same.

Hi everyone,I’m trying to set up Sonos Voice Control with Deezer, but I’m unable to.Every time I try to search Deezer music via voice control, I get the error that I have to reauthorize my Deezer account in the Sonos app.I have done that multiple times (successfully), but the error does not go away. I’m unable to search Deezer library via voice control.I also tried to remove and add Deezer account altogether, but it didn’t help. I also tried to remove and add again Sonos Voice control.However, when I play the Deezer music manually with the Sonos app, basic voice controls such as “next track” and similar work ok.Thank for your help and I’ll be glad to provide any more info if necessary. 

My google assistant somehow got removed from all of my sonos devices. Attempts to add it back fail (No devices found in the google assistant app). Any advice?

Hey all! I thought I’d share my insight into the Alexa/VA volume issue on Beam – at least for me.  Today I noticed the volume on Alexa was disproportionately LOW to the volume output for TV/Music sources. It was so low it was unusable without setting the TV audio so loud it was blasting out. Since last week, I’ve been using the included HDMI → optical adapter from Sonos which I plug into a 2013 Samsung TV. It’s the only way I can get 5.1 in the form of DTS. As using optical removes my volume controls and flashes up an annoying prompt on the TV to control the device directly, I’ve gone into the Samsung TV settings to activate Samsung’s IR blaster (which I haven’t actually got), so that the TV ‘thinks’ to output volume commands received to the IR cable output –– and then I’ve gotten the Beam to learn the TV remote control IR to control the volume –– less than ideal. I thought the issue might be related to the Alexa Assistant volume being directly linked to the Sonos output volume – 10% o

Hi,I have searched a bit but seems I am the first having this issue.I have 3 Alexa (2 Dot and 1 spot) and 2 Symfonisk-Sonos. I am using Spotify from Android/iOS/PC - the issue is the same.I am able to group alexa speakers and play (cast) to 1-2-3 of them. I am able to play to one sonos speaker at the time. Although I am not able to play to a group including 2 sonos speakers, or sonos speakers and Alexa.I have created a group including 3 alexa and 2 sonos, but can’t see it on Spotify.I have tried to create a Speaker Group (there is a dedicated function in the Alexa app) but in this case I have no chance to add the sonos speakers.Already tried the standard troubleshooting (uninstall all the apps, disable and re enable sonos skill, restart, clear cache etc.When asked, Amazon told me that Sonos speakers are not supposed to be compatible witht he multi-room functionality, although reading on the FAQ on Sonos website it seems the oppositethanks in advance, I hope the issue is clear 

Someone put me out of my misery!Four months ago my Sonos play1 has decided to not work with voice commands.I use Alexa to play radio or Spotify.Now Alexa works but it won't actually carry out the command.I've factory reset the Sonos, deleted the apps. Disabled and re enabled Alexa, pretty much everything any forum seems to suggest.Has anyone got a fix for this as it's almost pointless owning a Sonos that doesn't work with voice control. It's infuriating!!! 🥴    

Hi!Are there any updates on the integration for Alexa and Sonos from anyone who has managed to link sonos and alexa in The Netherlands?I just bought a set of Sonos One ..and don't see Amazon Alexa as an option for voice assistant 😥I certainly wish I had researched this earlier. What an absolute bummer! 

Subject says it all, it is ridiculous that we have Google Home products in Japan since many many many years, and there is still no integration with Sonos.Could the Sonos team at least state whether they have the intention to get this working?I don’t think there are legal problems, because you sell Sonos One with Google Assistant, so incorporating is definitely not an issue legal wise.So why don’t you support speakers like the Sonos 5?

Hello guys,I tring to make google assistant work on my parents system (on there tv beam gen1 + 2 one sl)We live in Israel but I changed yesterday my account which link to the system to the US and tried with UK also but nothing showing up on the app.Can't add on sonos app, on google home i can link my sonos account.I wanted to purchase the beam 2 for myself but the assistant is make ot or brake it for me.Any idea why after a day it doesn't shows up?

My setup: ARC + 2 x oneSL (surround.)  My ARC is defined as a Speaker in Alexa.  It is not in the same group as the Echo.When watching TV, if I say ‘Alexa turn on lights’ - it does - and provides audio feedback via Echo speaker.  BUT, then the sound coming from ARC goes and stays very low for ~15 seconds before returning to normal.  If I say ‘Alexa stop’ during this period, the volume pops right back up.  This seems to happen if the music is coming from the Echo as well (though, in this case, saying ‘echo stop’ actually stops the music too.)My Echo is located behind my head, close to me, and it is the one that answers - not the Sonos speaker, when I talk to it.  Alexa audio playback happens, as desired, on the Sonos.Thanks for any and all assistance in fixing this uniquely annoying issue.

Hello,I have the Sonos Arc and i’m trying to set up voice assistant through the app, but there is no option in the app to “add voice assistant”  here is a screenshot of what it looks like in my app. 

I just set up Google Assistant, and I'm largely happy with it, except that sleep timers don't work. When I have spotify playing, if I say "Sleep Timer for 10 minutes", Google Assistant responds "Sleep timers can only be set when media is playing". Is there any way to get this to work?

Do I need to Uninstall the app then re install? 

Hello, all.I have four rooms of Play:1s with four Amazon Echo Dots.When I ask Alexa to play music, it plays it over the Sonos speakers in the correct room.  But when it responds to commands,  Alexa’s voice comes over the Echo Dot.This was previously working as desired (all sound coming through Sonos) in three of four rooms.  To get it right, I went through a disable skill/ de-register/ re-enable process.  Now…three of the Alexa’s responses are played on the Echo Dot and not the Sonos speakers. One Echo Dot is not playing anything on the Sonos.  The Sonos app still correctly controls that Sonos.Any ideas on how I get both Alexa responses and music to play over Sonos?  There has to be a way as I did have it working in some cases.Thanks!!
