Voice control and smart home

So....I got the One, and I was never able to make it work like it was supposed to. Music from the App was never a problem, but the voice control always was. "Alexa, stop", and it wouldn't stop. "Alexa play XYZ", "playing XYZ (acknowledging command), and nothing happened. I tried the Ethernet (wired) option, and I got the same problems (so it wasn't the wifi). I exchanged the unit, and the replacement behaved the same way. Then I decided to test the same unit with my LTE data, from my cellphone. And it worked flawlessly! Voice control and Alexa finally worked with zero issues! I did another test: I took the Sonos One to a friend's house, and again, it worked very well, no errors at all. So yeah, obviously my network is not good enough for the Alexa control on the Sonos One. However....this is the only function that doesn't work properly. I’m curious to know if Alexa (via the Sonos One) can control external devices such as my TV if I’m using the dedicated Sonos network (5.1 surround) connecting via Ethernet. My concern is that if my Sonos system is using a separate/dedicated WiFi that it won’t communicate with devices connected to my home WiFi. Am I wrong? Thanks!

Our local radio station switching from TuneIn to Entercom (Radio.com). Asking Alexa on an Echo to play our local station works fine. When asking Alexa via Sonos One, greeted with "Sorry, having trouble accessing Radio.com skill". I've disabled the skill, and tried to enable it directly from the Sonos One without success. Is this another limitation for the Sonos One? If it is, it's a deal breaker as I was going to replace our bathroom Echo with the One.

When I ask Alexa to play music she says shuffling songs but nothing plays

Having been a long time Bose user I switched to Sonos a couple of years ago and have absolutely loved everything from the simplicity to the quality of music. I was going to replace my Play Bar with a Beam to get the latest additions of Alexa, Air Play 2 etc however decided against so as to not sacrifice sound quality, I opted instead for a pair of Ones to replace my Play 1's, really my fault for not researching properly however I am really disappointed by lack of available features through Alexa, unavailability of Air Play when linked to Playbar and different speaker mounting points compared to Play 1's. As I say, mostly my fault for not researching fully however I've just spent $700 on an upgrade that has provided very little improvement, I really believe Sonos must provide better info when releasing new products.

Not making any significant progress with Sonos Support after submitting problem details 2 weeks ago and a Diagnostics submission just after that so posting this to see if anyone else has similar issues. The Sonos beam responds to Alexa commands but there is a problem with how it is integrated in the Alexa app which is unable to set Device Location or Device Time Zone. I can't set this data manually either, I get an error message that "We weren't able to update the address associated with this device. Please check your network connectivity and try again later" or "We weren't able to update your device time zone. Please check your network connectivity and try again later". I've removed the Beam from Alexa and worked through the set up again with no improvement. BTW, I have yet to see a formal process from Sonos as to how to factory reset the Beam, that may be an option but I don't feel inclined to waste more time doing that and/or resetting Controllers on mobiles, tablets and PCs with

If you are having this message "this is not supported on this device " then you must go to the alexa app and in the settings tab go to smart devices and search and add your back into the list. It will then work.

Is there any way to use voice commands (such as play music, volume up/down, stop, night-mode) on the Sonos beam without using/enabling Alexa? I love the soundbar, but after an unfortunate few events using Alexa and an echo dot (some funny, some not so funny), I'd rather not enable the full features of Alexa to get the voice activation

Alexa either won't recognize playlists- mistakes "work out," for "work," (I don't have a work out playlist). Or if asked to play an artist, states "shuffling music by [artist]" but then nothing actually plays. I've tried disabling and enabling the Sonos skill within Alexa several times. How do I enable so that music actually plays through Spotify?

Are there are any general rules for naming Sonos speakers and rooms in an environment with Amazon Echo devices and Airplay 2 to avoid issues and conflicts? I have a Sonos Beam in one room and two Sonos Ones bonded as a stereo pair in another room; in addition, I have an Amazon Echo and an Amazon Echo Dot in two other rooms. I use the Sonos app as well as Airplay 2 to play content. 1. In the Sonos app, I have named the room the Sonos Beam is in "Office" and the room the Sonos Ones are in "Bedroom." 2. In Apple Homekit, I have named the Sonos Beam "Sonos Beam" and placed it in the "Office" room and the Sonos Ones "Right Sonos One" and "Left Sonos One" and placed them in the "Bedroom" room. 3. In Amazon Alexa, in the Alexa Devices setting, I have named the Sonos Beam "Office Sonos" and the Sonos Ones "Right Bedroom Sonos" and "Left Bedroom Sonos." I’m planning out where to add various sonos speakers and dots in additional rooms in my house. In rooms with smart lights I’d like to be able to control them with the new alexa enabled smart groups. So can I add the Sonos One as the alexa enabled device in an alexa smart home group?

I've been enjoying Sonos for more than a year now, and I've been recommending it to my friends outside US. I especially have friends who love Sonos in Japan and other countries in Asia, but they've been complaining about the facts that they can't enjoy SONOS' Alexa skill, while they are willing to opt for Sonos instead of other smart home devices. So I open my new Sonos Beam this afternoon and after going through the relatively straight forward setup using my Android tablet, on completion and attempting to ask Alexa to play a song or in fact anything at all from Amazon music I was greeted with "I'm now playing blah de blah by whoever etc ... then ...... ....... ...... ........ ........ ........ ......... .." complete silence. After wasting about 4 hrs this evening trying to get it to work (thanks Sonos! love you x x) I finally got there in the end and thought I'd share it in case anyone else has the same thing. I swapped over to the windows PC Sonos app (Windows firewall initially prevented this from connecting to the speaker as well, even though I had chosen the option to configure the windows firewall in the setup. Apologises if this topic has been covered elsewhere, but have looked and nothing similar has come up. I have an Amazon Echo Plus (plus bit is irrelevant I think), and a Sonos One. I can play music on the Echo or the One, but not both at the same time. I have a group for both the Echo and the One, however Alexa on the Echo, does not recognise this group. Can anyone assist me in getting my One and Echo to play the same music at the same time?

I got myself two Sonos Ones to replace to Play:1s and got them all set up yesterday. I had to reset and remove devices and start over, but all seems to work. There is just one small problem. In my Alexa app after adding a Kitchen and Living Room Sonos One, I now have 4 new devices showing. Kitchen, Kitchen Sonos, Living Room and Living Room Sonos. If I speak to Alexa and ask her to play music, she says 'Playing ...... on Kitchen Sonos', likewise if I want to play music in another room I have to say 'Alexa, play ...... on Living Room Sonos, I can't just say Living Room. To play to a Bedroom Play:1 I can just say 'bedroom'. I assume that the 'Kitchen' device is Alexa and the 'Kitchen Sonos' device is the actual speaker for playback. Does anyone else have the same, and is this correct? It's not a deal breaker but a little bit annoying.

I just want voice control for simple things like volume control, skip, repeat, play, pause, etc. Not interested in all the other stuff and actually got rid of Alexa's to get Sonos and have no interest in linking Sonos to Alexa account for what should be obvious reason... Can Sonos please consider adding this for Sonos One, the mic is there, why not?? I would buy more for the rest of our rooms but right now I am not sold on this being the speakers I invest in.

When will a voice controller be able to control the volume of my grouped rooms? Will purchase a voice controller (Alexis, Google, etc) when one of them can control my Sonos grouped rooms We rarely play play just one room. Useless tool for Sonos without that feature.

Sonos One in the bathroom, my wife likes to talk to it and tell it to play her favorite Ed Sheeran songs while she's getting ready for work. The past few days, she asks Alexa to play Ed Sheeran on Spotify and gets no response, only silence. This was working fine until the past few days. Any ideas?
