Don’t know what Sonos was thinking with the latest app release. a function we could use daily before the ‘update’ has been removed. So thank you Sonos. For not integrating the timer functionality!fix this, or I have 6 Sonos devices for the second hand marker.
Do people here understand that Sonos has good engineers designing their products, but their IT folks who create the apps and programs that operate the devices.... those IT folks are pathetic. All these problems are attributable to what can only be truly inept, incompetent IT staff.
Why is SONOS constantly changing their app and things get worse? I hate the new app. I can barely get my speakers to cooperate with each other and some of them won’t even come online any longer. The new app sucks.
Sonos inc are still living in the land of make believe. Their strap line on their products page is :Better by redesignThe latest update brings a new look and feel to the Sonos app. Get to your favourite music faster. Enjoy easier control of your system. And personalise your experience. Mine and many others favourite music is the music we have bought over many decades and now have stored in our media servers. We now have no way of easily getting it to play on our Sonos equipment unless we invest in a Windows appliance, because they have not yet trashed the Windows app. This strap line is hogwash. .
<soapbox>Sonos makes great hardware. I’ve always liked it better. Especially brilliant innovations like Move with its inductive charging ring and beautiful industrial design. But Sonos software has been so bad lately that I’m considering abandoning thousands of dollars in Sonos hardware to switch to the Apple ecosystem. Say what you will about AirPlay (it often stutters when it gets started, for example, while the Sonos firmware just seems to work almost every time), but it works pretty seamlessly across the apps. The problems with Sonos software are many, but the most egregious of them is that the integration between Sonos and Spotify (and Apple) feels and functions like the terrible hack that it is. There has to be a way for these two companies to get together to actually solve this problem because neither app works like magic. They are sort of cobbled together in a way that doesn’t work smoothly in either app. When it does work after fiddling with *both apps*, there’s still thi
This is actually a question for Sonos:Please please can you bring order to chaos? And restore a ‘normal’ user interface? I don’t know what kind of user experience testing you have done, but you have over complicated the new app and made simple tasks difficult made the app counter intuitive disconnected yourself from a slightly older audience who are not so techie or experienced with clicking and swiping I’ve always been a great supporter of Sonos but if I can’t use the app you will loose me (and more important, you will loose my wife)Please update and simplify the user interface. Thanks
I cannot test my service with customsd with new sonos app.In new app my test service is invisible.Fortunately on my old ios device I have a previous version of app and it works.
Hi, Could one of the sonos moderators change my username please? Happy to PM the new username. Thanks.
sonos what have you done ? the app was working fine - now a nightmare no group volume can’t shut music off in one room no sleep timer very very disappointed
Back in 2020, some of us here were up in arms - verbally - about Sonos remotely shutting down products that had been replaced by a new one purchased at a discount. This remote bricking of working products was part of the S1/S2 forking thing.I remember on this forum the usual fervent Sonos fanboys and public defenders joining issue with us, putting forth arguments as to why the Sonos approach was the morally righteous one, and why it was the right thing to do in other ways as well, avoidable pressure on landfills be damned. They did this defending of Sonos right till the time Sonos, damned by public opinion here and in many other places for this policy, did a 180 degree about turn on this completely misconceived action. When Sonos did the about turn after giving in to pressure via public opinion here and elsewhere, the said fanboys and defenders were left with embarassing egg on their faces. One even complained about being cheated out of not being able to use his old units as others woul
superbia ante lapsum(Pride goeth before the fall) Reading you all and experiencing all these problems first hand myself, and the manner in which sonos is sweettalking this mess, convinces me that sonos is doomed to dissapear in the foreseeable future.I for one will no longer recommend or praise this product to anyoneMark my words...
Can’t believe Sonos got rid of the sleep timer and alarm feature! So disappointed! Used them both daily! Wow…. I used to talk highly of Sonos, not now. Stupid decision! Please bring both back. Also, the new app is terrible to navigate! What stupid person came up with this brilliant idea? So dissatisfied and disappointed in Sonos.
When are you going the bring the s2 App back? The new app is absolutely horrible. I see millions of complaints coming. Please give us the option to keep the S2 app.
Latest update disgrace.. it’s impossible to add new tracks while playing music on Spotify. Also you cannot add songs to Your Spotify favorite list either. Shame on you, Sonos team..
Since the latest version 80, I have access to my music server, without being able to use the folders. Shuffle is no longer available. Music services are mixed up and especially on MY TUNER RADIO, many channels are not accessible. Old shortcuts are grayed out and inaccessible. In short, a failed update, which makes the use of my own music defective. It's deplorable.
Why can’t I find my playlists or create a new one this is why I have Sonos 😡
I bought my multiple Sonos speakers to primarily play my CD collection over WiFi from my NAS media box, a Popcorn Hour C200. Worked as expected multiple speakers, stereo speakers, all just worked. Also put some music on a USB stick inserted into my Internet router (Draytek) (actually a backup of my NAS music) and again it just worked, nice as no spinning disk drives to wear out. This really bought my CD collection to life, no longer restricted to lounge HiFi setup and messing around with physical disks and CD player. When decorating, pop Sonos in a protective poly bag and music in room being decorated. Never really bothered with radio or streaming as totally happy listening to my CD’s I have bought. So come update, can no longer listen to MY MUSIC due to SMBv1 network protocol. Not sure my Popcorn Hour can do SMBv2 or even my router or even how to configure….I really don’t give a s*** as it once worked fine, no one hacked my music, no one uploaded viruses, no one streamed my music to R
Any solution in sight for the current update dilemma? The assignment to the individual rooms does not work at all. The same room is always controlled. And Sonos Voice only ever has issues with the various music providers. It's just embarrassing that an update is being released in such an uncontrolled manner!
What’s your opinion?
I just updated my Sonos app (5/8/24) and NOTHING works any more. Any suggestions??
How many others are having problems with the new Sonos update and are about ready to throw it away? I have installed hundreds of these units and never had the problems with updates to the extent of this new one. My personal feeling is I won't offer sell or install Sonos again. Even my own unit which was working just fine until the update is going to see the trash can.
What the hell is going on it’s obvious the new app sucks because the phone lines are blowing up and I can’t get thru how can I get the old app back?
Why is the new product headphones :/ an IOS device is needed to Trueplay most Sonos products. A workaround for this should of been way more important than some headphones. Its been years its time Sonos built there own mic for Trueplay instead of just relying on the ones in IOS devices, which a lot of people dont have.
During the AMA, in response to a question about the need to make the new app cloud based, a certain Diane from Sonos said this:There are many advantages to using the cloud, but I’ll highlight one. With our new content services, we are able to provide a richer experience for discovering music to listen to. Our previous app was built on APIs that did not provide enough metadata to make that rich experience. Some unknown time in the future, all issues causing the present firestorm will be addressed, for the above promised pot of gold for Sonos users via this richer experience of music discovery, to be available to the sufferers of today. Can someone with any insight answer these two questions relating to this promise? What will the new app do that S2 cannot, that will make the discovery experience richer? What will the new app do to make the experience of discovery richer, that services like Spotify, Apple Music and the like, do not provide in their native apps?As an S1 user I am not affecte
I saw Brennan mentioned in the forum. They have a CD player and a volume controller called EZB but I discovered that they also sell something called VB1 but I can find no mention of it on the forum. It seems like a good way to play my turntable through Sonos. Has anybody any experience of the VB1? Or what do you think? The webpage is here - I think their main site is in the UKAM
