I have a Sonos Arc + Sub connected to my Samsung S95B eArc HDMI port and connected to the same TV, to another HDMI portM, an Apple TV 4K (3rd Gen). The TV is setup for passthrough and when I increase or decrease the volume it shows Sonos Arc (eArc HDMI). Apple TV shows, in the settings, under immersive audio, Dolby Atmos. From my understanding it everything is properly setup. When I play content, be it Apple TV+, Netflix, HBO Max, etc.. and press down button on the remote to look at the Info Window it shows it’s playing 4K Dolby Vision but no Dolby Atmos label. As a matter of fact Dolby Atmos label only appears on Apple TV+, very rarely, and then disappears. When browsing for content the apps they do show support for Dolby Atmos. What confuses me is that while playing the content (Apple TV+, Netflix, etc..) the Sonos App shows the Dolby Atmos in both “Now Playing” and System Information. The question I have is: which one is correct? Is Apple not aware it’s playing Dolby Atmos content
Today i bought the Arc.I have an LG TV with earc. (It says Arc)I set the tv settings Earc - on and digital - pass trough. When i start a movie on Disney the tv shows dolby vision. The sonos app shows dolby atmos. When i start the same movie without the Arc i can enable dolby atmos on the tv speakers and the tv shows dolby atmos. Is the arc playing dolby atmos or just dolby vision?
I do know Apple TV 4K uses Dolby MAT encoder, and apps like Netflix will show the “PCM Multichannel 5.1” instead of something like “Dolby PCM Multichannel 5.1” for this reason. When I play the same show from Apple TV 4K (PCM Multichannel 5.1) and from the internal TV’s app (Dolby PCM Multichannel 5.1), I can easily find “Dolby PCM Multichannel 5.1” is more dynamic, more detailed and louder. My questions: Is “PCM Multichannel 5.1” the more RAW and accurate one? Or it is just a downside of how tvOS processes the audio format? Should we use “dolby digital 5.1” in Apple TV’s audio format when we are not watching any Dolby Atmos contents? Thank you in advance!
Hey all! Not an unusual request, I know. I'm looking to buy a Sonos soundbar and speakers for my TV and I'm looking for some advice as my living room TV setup is asymmetrical and I don't have much room for surround speakers. I'm not sure how to tackle this. Main question is - should I bother with rear surround speakers, having sofa in a corner?More questions below. I’m a brand new Port user coming over from the Squeezebox/Logitech Media Server world after 10 years. I’m aware of others that maintain their own digital music collection locally saying that Sonos seems to be abandoning that market segment, but is the S2 controller really that limited that it can’t see the ARTISTSORT tags in my extensive FLAC library and sort by last name instead of first name? Also apparently I can’t set it to NOT show artist names associated with songs in compilations so my Artists list isn’t so cluttered? I knew I’d be trading off some customization options by moving to Sonos and I’m glad not to have to spend so much time tinkering with my SB Touch just to get it to work with my network, but I thought there’d be some flexibility for displaying my music the way I want it to. The Music Library options in the S2 app for iOS (Settings > System > Music Library) are ridiculous! What do others do? Are there 3rd party apps that work well with lossless libraries? Any s
Problem: My Sony TV and Sonos system work very well with the Sonos system (Beam, Sub Gen 3, pair Sonos Ones) connected through HDMI Arc. Unfortunately, the TV/Sonos volume always jumps 2 levels at a time when using the remote. eg 2, 4, 6, 8…When I unplug the Sonos System and switch to the Sony to TV sound only, the TV volume adjusts properly, eg: 1, 2, 3, 4...I am using the same remote and have tried several different remotes but get the same incorrect result.I have also tried adding each piece of my Sonos system, checking volume control as I add each piece, but the result does not change, 2, 4, 6, 8...Question: Is there a way to stop the volume jumping 2 steps at a time so I have a finer control of the system volume? I love the Sonos system but would like to improve the volume adjustment with the TV remote. Thanks for any help.
Hi All,I am sure many ARC+Sub Home Theatre owners are following the 14.12 and 14.14 updates issue (sub power drop off with Trueplay) with great anticipation of a fix - and this could be some time yet. Not only are we waiting for the sub presence to return to its punchy self, but we also know Sonos are evolving the overall sound signature. As a result, this has made me think about getting the best out of sound when not using Trueplay. i.e. configuring the system manually (natively). It would be great to hear from people who don't use Trueplay and what speaker positioning tips and tools (including white noise sound testing) they use to calibrate their system. In essence, has anyone dumped Trueplay and found happiness with it turned off? If so, what did they do to get that sound? Thanks,Brad
Currently got a one sl in conservatory getting another for stereo pair, but I would like to test them both with my beam in living room to see how they are as surrounds, how easy is it to just set them up with the beam but then reset them in the conservatory again I'm meaning in the app any help appreciated
I use Sonos on Android and want to play music from my device. Please add a feature to allow the Sonos App to scan specific on-device folders rather than default to only the “Music” folder.Use case: Amazon Prime Music no longer allows playing specific songs. As a workaround, I purchased and downloaded music to my device. The Amazon download folder is “Android\device\com.amazon.mp3\files\Music\Purchased” but Sonos only scans the “Music” folder and doesn’t recognize the downloaded music. If I could specify on-device folders to scan, it would solve this issue. This solution seems universal as it would allow playback for all downloaded songs from any streaming service. Thanks for your consideration.
I am having a heck of a time finding any information on how to add my iTunes library to the Sonos app. I don’t have a computer. I have found articles on adding with Windows or Mac OS, but nothing about only using iPhone and iPad. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Two questions really: The main entertaining space in a small private party venue has a system with Arc, stereo subs and two One SL. The max volume played through the app is not sufficient for the space. Can the amp be incorporated into the system to increase overall sound? There are adjacent spaces that would benefit from additional speakers - can additional stereo subs, One SL and hopefully amps be added to the adjacent spaces that can be turned on or off independently?
I currently have a 4.1 setup with Sonos Amp. The two front speakers are passive wired speakers connected to the amp.I want to add a soundbar as the center speaker. Will I be able to disable the left and right sound in Beam or Arc? I want those to be coming from the bigger passive speakers.
Are sky and Sonos ever going to sort out the sync issue when going through a Samsung TV.Its now been 2 years of having Dolby plus switched off. I turn it back on every few months to see if anything has changed. If no one can be bothered to sort this, its going to be hard, but might be the time to ditch Sonos as the family wont let me ditch sky. Rich
Hello everyone, Im looking to get a confirmation on a setup id like to have. I have at the moment:Apple TV 4K (atmos / eARC HDMI) Videoprojector 4K (eARC HDMI)Thingking of gettingBeam gen2 (atmos / eARC) The thing is i want to make sure that i will get the atmos sound with the 3 setup together. Im not sure how to connect everything, i know that i will have to use HDMI as atmos doesnt work with airplay wihtout homepod. So the connection that i thought of is as follow:Plugging the Apple TV to the videoprojector via the regular HDMI port for the videoPlugging an other HDMI cable from the Apple TV eARC plug to the Sonos Beam (eARC) Will this setup allow me to have the atmos sound ? Thanks for the answers.
I have three Sonos Play:1 speakers which are sometimes used individually, sometimes grouped. When I group two or more speakers, on the desktop app I cannot control the volume of individual speakers, only the entire group. The small pop-up window with the individual speakers is visible but the volume sliders do not work. This is only a problem on the Windows desktop app - the app on my phone is fine. But it is a problem on both Windows laptops that I have. And it appears to have arisen only in the last few days.Any thoughts?
The update to 14.18 seems to have broken the volume controller on the desktop app (Windows 11). While I can still adjust the overall volume of a particular group with the top slide, the pop-up sliders that allow me to control the volume of the speakers within the group individually are no longer functional. I have confirmed that all of my speakers, as well as the apps on my phone and desktop all updated to 14.18. The sliders are working normally on my phone.
Perhaps a crazy question, but here goes:I’d like to add in-ceiling sonance speakers in our family room. Problem is, it’s a 2-story tall room so the ceiling is probably 25-30-feet tall. I’d rather not rent a scaffold or lift to deal with it. So that got me thinking: Since there is attic above that room, would it be possible to install the speakers from above? What I was thinking was Step 1: cut the holes from the attic. Step 2: drop a fishing line/rope/whatever through the hole to the floor below. Step 3: attach the rope to the speaker. Step 4: attach the speaker grill to the speaker. Step 5: Carefully pull the speaker up to the hole from the attic. Step 6:???????????? It seems like steps 1-5 will get me a speaker that is in place, but not secured. I suppose the big question is I can you twist down the locking mechanism from the back side of the speaker? (See picture) Anyone have experience with this? Or does anyone have a speaker handy to see if there’s a way to lower the clamps from t
Can I connect a Sonos Connect (ZP90) to a subwoofer amplifier instead of a stereo amplifier? I only want the low freqencies so I can use a wall subwoofer with my Sonos Ones.
I have had a Sonos Arc for around 2 weeks now & its not fully setup for surround sound (I'm still waiting for my One SL's to be shipped) I knew the issues with the Arc & its incompatibility with DTS, however I came across this article which states that if I turn DTS/DTS-HD to PCM on my Panasonic UB9000, my eARC TV will be able to convert DTS/DTS-HD audio to Dolby Digital 5.1. Am I reading this correctly & has anyone tried this? DTS via PCM?
I have a play 5 gen 2 that takes analogue sound from TV via headphone mini jack line out.Could I use an IKEA bookshelf as a surround speaker. Would the play 5 send surround data to the rear . Or am I limited due to the analogue in . Technically I could get pro logic at the least.
Can anyone tell me how to import playlists from Napster to Tidal? I’m in love with my SONOS, but would dearly love finding a way to save these playlists. Many thanks.
"I have a Sonos ‘Bridge’ which is connected to 4 speakers in the room. I also have two Sonos one Gen 1 . I am not able to update the Sonos app Which ones of the items I have mentioned should I replace ?”
HOW DO I GET THE SONOS CONTROL PANEL BACK ON MY IMAC, I HAD TO DELETE TO DO A LARGE UPDATE
I know that this question has already been answered but I have found a simpler and cheaper way for anyone still struggling with this issue. I brought an audio extractor off Amazon: 4K Audio Extractor HDMI by OREITo make this all work, plug your source into the input and projector into the output, then plug the sound bar into the optical port. Make sure that in the projector settings the audio out device is set to AV receiver and the go to the sonos app and go though the “tv setup” after this you should be all good. At time of this the audio extractor is only £44 which is cheap compared to others on the market. I hope this helps :) Moderator Note: Modified in accordance with the Community Code of Conduct.
