my electrician cut 10” holes for my ceiling speakers. Is that too big? I know the recommended cut out is 8.25”
In youtube, someone mentioned that: “Until last night I wasn't hearing much from the Atmos effect, but now I am. I had to move my listening position forward 6 inches then the bar forward 6 inches. I then used the brown spacers (second from the thickest) under the rear of the bar, Atmos effects kicked in. The bubble for the effects seems rather narrow. I am now sitting 9 feet from the bar. 8 feet is where the top firing speakers are the strongest. I just can't justify shrinking the room another foot .” It seems, as I always thought, that due to the fixed angle of the upward firing woffers, there must be a sweet spot for the maximum height effect. Where is that sweet spot? I tried to move my hearing position closer and further to/from the Arc, but not able to notice appreciable difference. I tested using the Dolby 5.1.2 white noise test pattern mp4
I am moving to a new home and would like to purchase a Sonos system. However my home has some limitations that necessitate a bit of a custom setup. I would like to run sonos ARC for my LCR Sonos amp to power rear surround (in-ceiling) I would also like the Amp to feed an lfe signal to my subwoofer. This is where things get fuzzy, there following article states it can’t be done: https://support.sonos.com/s/article/2237?language=en_US “Note that the Subwoofer and Line-In connections are disabled when Connect:Amp is used as surrounds.” However it appears to be referencing the old Connect:Amp. I would like to know if my setup is viable. Unfortunately sonos subs are simply not an option due to how large the space is
Someone has commented on YouTube about some plastic “wedges” that were in the Arc box to allow for some tilting of the bar. Is this correct? Nothing in my box!
I recently purchased an Optoma HD143x projector and I was planning on using my Sonos Beam and 2 x Sonos One speakers as the audio. However, I'm not sure how to set this up as there's no ARC connection in the projector. I tried ordering a HDMI Switch and plugging my beam into it, along with my chromecast but this didn't work either. Does anyone know if this projector is compatible with Sonos and if so, what is the correct way to set it up?
Hey. Whist should i do to use s1 controller. When I chose it Hmm it jus say open s2 App. But since I got a speaker in kitchen who is not supported in s2. I wanna use s1 so I can listen to it when I am in kitchen. What to do?
Hi, I have a Move but it doesn’t seem to charge on a USB-C cable. I’ve bought a brand new Hama charging / data cable with a max output of 3A. it’s plugged into the wall with a regular (Apple) wall plug. But the battery is going down instead of up. and the orange light on the front is not lit… If this is not the cable, then what cable should it be? And why is it not available on your Sonos store?? Regards, Marc
after many hours splitting my S1 from my S2 system and getting the apps to work on my phone I now need the apps to work on my wife’s phone. I downloaded them & expected all the info to be there having logged into my account. it looks like I have to set up the whole system again on my wife’s app. surely there has to be a simple solution to this?
I just installed my Sonos Arc with Sonos Sub and 2 rear Sonos One SL. I hardwired the Sonos Arc to my Eero router. When I disable Wi-Fi on my Arc setting the Sonos Sub and Sonos one SL will stop working. For them to work all in sync the WiFi has to be enabled. Why did Sonos put and Ethernet connection if it will only work off WiFi. Or do I have to do disable the WiFi on sub and one also to work.. Sub and the Sonos one are not hard wired.. Anyone run into this problem?
Like many people, my Beam blocks my TV’s IR sensor, making controlling the TV difficult. How would I use an IR repeater to fix that problem? The repeaters I see for sale have a USB connector, but the Beam does not.
I am now facing the much discussed issue of audio lag on Xbox One and PS4 using DD 5.1 and Atmos when playing to Sonos products via TV ARC on a LG C7. I read online the current work around to this issue is to connect XBO/PS4 to playbar/ beam with optical cable to get the 5.1. This is probably why both LG and Sonos stopped looking at this issue. As the Sonos Arc removed optical and only support ARC, what are my options now?, do I have to return the Sonos Arc?
I recently bought a new tv (Prism E65) it doesn’t have an optical port, so I bought a audio extractor optical to HDMI https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01KLBKQBK/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but the sound is still coming thru the TV not my playbase… anyone have any ideas? Thank ls in advance!!
I have a few Sonos Connect devices around the house and enjoy them very much. I also have a Sonos Amp and several Play 1’s, One’s and Sub. Having recently been bitten by the Vinyl bug and cautiously entering this world with the acquisition of a Fluance turnable + external preamp (has not arrived at), I was wondering if the Sonos Port offers better performance when compared to the Sonos Connect. I could connect it to my Sonos Amp, but would prefer to connect it to another Sonos Connect setup I have in the house. I would then stream form that setup to other Sonos devices in my houshold. I have no need for Apple AirPlay.
Hi, Can someone please attach a picture of their Sub gen 3 power cord? My preorder arrived with a L shaped connection (Play:1) and Sonos has sent me the wrong power cord again (Playbar). My ARC power cord fits perfectly and imagine that the SUB Gen 3 Power cord should be something similar, Thanks
Hi, I consider to buy sonos arc with the sub to complete my home theater setup, but after some research, I have some doubts if it will work. My current setup is: Google Chromecase Ultra HDMI Matrix (with ARC support): https://xolorspace.com/collections/4x2-hdmi-matrix-switcher/products/4x2-4k-60hz-hdr-hdmi-matrix-switcher-optical-out-arc Projector: Benq TK800 I want to achieve dolby atmos through (Dolby Digital Plus). The plan was simple: 1. Netflix -> streams Video + Audio to Chromecast 2. Chromecast -> pass signal to the matrix 3. Matrix -> splits the signal. and it sends the video to the projector and audio to the soundbar 4. I'm enjoying the effect But. I have meet opinions on the web that the signal needs to go to TV and need to be returned via ARC channel to the soundbar and can't be pass through. So I have some questions: 1. Will sonos work with this setup? 2. What happens if not? Will I get 5.1 audio without atmos or it won't work at all? 3. Is ARC different thank pass
I wish to purchase the Sonos Arc, would they take the money immediately for back ordered products or when item is in stock and despatched? Thanks
OK, Followed directions, downloaded S1 and S2. Ran S2 and it says install S1 and run it to remove gen 1 devices from the system. Go to system tools , and there is no “Remove Products” button!! All there is are System Compatibility link and a System Management “Trade Up” link. So how do I remove products so I can run S2??? Do I need to update my system first? When I check for updates, there is a new update.
App can’t find Sonos Got a new cable Modem. Same router – same SSID and Password. All my wi-fi devices reconnect immediately – except Sonos of course. I press the “Infinity Button” and the App starts looking immediately (therefore, it is detecting the key press (no problem). It says it has detected my system, but then immediately goes back into an error state – “No system found” I read once where Sonos is going to disable older speakers to make you buy new speakers? I have two Play5’s and two stereo pairs of Play One (Gen 1) I’ve deleted and re-installed the App – still doesn’t work Any solutions? Can’t Sonos make a more robust system here? – sorry I’m frustraed
So I’ve updated my Sonos speakers to work with the new S2 app. Once I did my playbar stopped working. I’ve reset it and tried adding it back to my account with no luck. It will play audio but doesn’t ever get added back into the app. I tried adding it through the S1 and it said I need to use the S2 app. When I try adding it back to my account it fails during the connection phase. Any help would be appreciated!
So i’m trying to figure out if buying sub gen 3 when i already have gen 2. my question is, what’s the upgrade from gen 2 to gen 3 sub?
Hi everyone, I appreciate there are loads of posts on this topic, but as I’m new to all of this I haven’t quite found one that seems to fix my problem. I have the Sonos Beam and two One’s setup for home theatre, the Beam is plugged into my TV through HDMI ARC, whilst I also have a PS4 plugged into one of my TV’s other HDMI’s. My TV is a Panasonic and I understand from research online and my usage that it does not passthrough 5.1 audio from the PS4, but it will output 5.1 when using the inbuilt Netflix app. I’m looking for a workaround to try and get 5.1 when using the PS4. Would it be possible to have: Beam > switch by HDMI > switch > PS4 by optical > switch to TV by HDMI? From my research I understand the best fix to my problem would be to have optical directly from the Beam to the PS4, but I don’t know enough to understand whether this would be possible through a switch type device. I have looked on Amazon but there are so many I’m a bit overwhelmed, so any help/ dire
Before I updated to S2, S1 was playing my 24-bit FLAC files but up to 48KHz sample rate. It won’t play anything above this. S1 was not meant to play anything above CD quality 16bit. When I heard that S2 will be playing Hi-Res I thought it will play all Hi Res tracks up to 24/192KHz I thought finally. So S1 was downgrading the track quality before it plays? Also any tracks higher than 24/48 it says it cannot play. Now with S2 - there is no change as yet. It still plays up to 24/48 and I presume is downgrading the tracks. Does S2 have the capability to play Hi-Res tracks? Or is this feature coming soon? Thanks.
I’ve just purchased a SONOS move, a couple of queries. 1. What is the recomended way to leave the MOVE when not in use and to preserve the battery? Power on, stored on the recharging ring switched on. Power off, stored on the recharging ring switched off. Some other combination.? 2. This is the first SONOS speaker I have purchased with voice activation. Is there any way the Move can be used to control my other SONOS speakers (6x SONOS ONE first gen and 1x Play bar) via the APP?
My old desktop controller said an update was available. i ran the update but when the app restarted i received the “Sonos Desktop Controller has stopped working” error. I tried rebooting, rebooting on safe mode, and still wouldn't run. I uninstalled the software and tried loading S1 and S2. I get the same error on each. I loaded all windows updates and still nothing. OS: Windows 7 Home Premium - Service Pack 1 Any suggestions? Thanks!
I use a Play 5 as a TV speaker. I am using the 3.5mm jack input. When there is a power blip or any issue with the Play5, it does not go back to the line input. I have to open an app the select it to play the line input jack. Is there any way to set the default to the line input? Make it power up to this mode? Thanks, Rob
